  1. Personally I wouldn't buy fibreglass, plus at the price you've been quoted I'm pretty sure you could get the TRD kit for about the same money - speak to your Lexus dealer or PM ACLex on here.
  2. I also think it's a bit stupid that there's only 2 seats in the rear - they haven't even done anything meaningful with the space in between.
  3. When you connect the jump leads and before starting the engine can you operate the remote locking? Also is the alarm not switching off after the engine runs for a few minutes?
  4. The only colour options were black and cream so I think yours is black :)
  5. Yep SEs were about £21k basic - my auto with nav and stuff was about £24.5k if I remember correctly. The IS has always been a lot of car for the money, technically less so now as it is an 11 year old car we're talking about. You could probably pick up a 10 year old S class for the same money which is arguably a whole lot more car for the money :P
  6. Never had the pleasure of meeting John but he was a valued member on here and from what I've heard sounds like a great person. My thoughts are also with his friends and family, RIP John :(
  7. Ahh then maybe it hasn't been hacked. The home button and 5 preset destinations are available while moving, it's the address input and other more involved processes that aren't available. If you want to test it out without a passenger, just put it on the address entry screen and then drive away, the buttons will all grey out while moving and then come back when you stop :)
  8. The rubbers barely cost anything, when I had standard wipers my dealer used to replace them free of charge. I'm now using PIAA silicone wipers - although a bit pricey, they are brilliant and last ages.
  9. The satnav in our cars cannot be updated to allow input while moving from a DVD, only the latest units can do this. It sounds like a previous owner has made a wiring modification to allow this, normally done by inserting a switch on the sensor wire that checks if the car is moving or not. It would be odd to have done this without a switch, so have a search around, there is probably a switch somewhere that will turn this function on and off.
  10. IS300s are all DVD, so make sure the replacement unit is DVD also (so from a car from 2001 onwards).
  11. Could it have just been the metallic black with funky lighting? The black can show off different colours depending on the lighting.
  12. Yes pulling the stalk is the single wipe, button on the end of the stalk activates the washers. I'm not sure if this varies slightly dependent on the year of the car, but on mine the headlamp washers work only the first time you use the windscreen washer after the headlights are switched on.
  13. What exactly is the question? When you pull the stalk you should get a single wipe of the screen, is that not working?
  14. Nah cadoxton slate is the dark grey, not sure what the light blue is called but know which colour you're talking about :)
  15. As long as it's a DVD unit I believe it should work fine but hopefully someone more technical can confirm :)
  16. The good thing about living in London is that I'm still on the 2001 disc and have very rarely had to go somewhere not on the map :)
  17. If they're both on a 57 plate then I'm sure it's just Lexus being silly - I know that early RXs only had the ML system on the SE-L, and the SE just had nav as an option. Later in life it became a multimedia pack for the SE so it would get the DVD, ML system and nav. I don't know whether this applies to the RX400h (I don't think it does) so they should all have the multimedia pack - either way look at the photos carefully and if the mark levinson logo is on the stereo then it's the multimedia.
  18. The IS300 is DVD so no worries there, I think Toyota discs might work but you have to make absolutely sure that it's for the correct system. It's quite risky though unless it's very cheap or you can verify it's the right disc.
  19. Not a huge fan of eyelids in general (think it makes cars look sleepy ) but otherwise it looks great, especially the rear window spoiler which really suits the car. Nice work :winky:
  20. It's all very confusing (thanks to Lexus' marketing department) but aero could be either, as the TRD and TTE kits were marketed as Aero Kit 1 and Aero Kit 2 from about 2004 onwards (although I don't know which is which :P )
  21. When you say stationary do you mean parked, or just stopped at a set of traffic lights for example? If the latter, then I don't use either, just keep foot on the brakes. Park locks up the transmission, so I'd imagine in an impact that it would put quite a lot of strain on the gearbox? In terms of how far you're pushed forwards, I still think the actual brakes would be the best at holding you in position.
  22. Does the GS have A2DP support then? I didn't know that :) Even so the A2DP profile won't allow full access like that, the most info you'll get on screen is the track name of the currently playing track, you only get pretty basic control. With regard to iPod, I believe the Vaistech unit is completely integrated including video: LINK But the Lexus one should do as well, I'd check with the dealer and I can also recommend AutoAudio in Park Royal if you want some independent advice.
