  1. Yeah it's really silly that it's on all the time, no idea how they thought that was a good idea! I'm not sure if it's a case of just swapping the switch, as I have no idea if the wiring is different. However I can't imagine it being that hard to fit a switch somewhere or even somehow wire it into the existing window switch if you're good with electrics.
  2. Hi and welcome to LOC :) I don't think the sports have ventilated seats, only heated if I'm not mistaken so bear that in mind. The diesel sports just have a different ratio on 6th gear, I believe the rest of the box is the same. Just means you can use 6th gear at lower speeds, whereas on the other models you need to be at around 80mph for it to make sense. I'm not a huge fan of diesels in general so if you don't do high miles I'd be inclined to say go for the IS250 auto, but otherwise I'd lean towards the 6 cylinder diesels than the 4s as they bring a lot more smoothness and refinement to the mix.
  3. The auto is fine in terms of smoothness and it kicks down quick enough - but you need to drive one, the auto is a lot slower than the manual because you can't keep the engine in the power band (just over 4k revs) with only 4 gears and fuel economy isn't great either. I know you mentioned £900 but depending on budget the IS300 is a much better choice if you want an auto.
  4. If your car is pre 2001 then the heated mirrors are on all the time. You'll be able to tell as the rear window heater switch only has a picture of the rear window on it, whereas later cars have the rear window and door mirror on it as it controlled both.
  5. If it's from a dealer doesn't it come with a 12 month approved used warranty? I'd add a bit of pressure that you're going to return the car within the 30 days as above and that should get things moving a bit faster.
  6. I think it's usually a headlight relay problem when this happens - has the windscreen been replaced? This is a common problem if it isn't sealed properly, water gets in under it into the fusebox and stuff.
  7. The rear of the IS is always a bit higher than the front, but it shouldn't look higher now - when did you have them fitted? If only recently give the springs a little time to settle.
  8. You're right if it's an AS, the Altezza's don't have the same level of sound proofing and such so aren't quite as refined as the Lexus version. I really have no experience with an RS to comment to be honest, the downsides are that the 4cyl engine is not as refined as the 6 in the IS200, and it's quite a high revving engine with all the power at the top so you have to thrash it a bit (not that different to the IS200 in that respect). I don't think running costs would be that different, insurance is the one that could be worse seeing as it's an import but again this depends on so many factors so probably a good idea to get a quote from a few insurers (including those that specialise in imports). Easy way to tell if it's an RS or AS if it's an auto is that the RS has gearchange buttons on the steering wheel.
  9. Do you know which version it is? Is it the AS200 (which is the same as an IS200, 2.0ltr 6 cylinder 153bhp) or the RS200 (2.0ltr 4 cylinder 210bhp)?
  10. If it's turning fine could it be the immobiliser?
  11. Ahh, so this applies to later cars rather than early ones. I can't find it in my manual on page 36, or anywhere else in that whole section about locking. It's possible this came in later but then not available in UK cars (as with other things) - for this to make any sense the drivers door has to unlock when you pull the handle (like on the IS250), if you have to flip the lock manually then you may as well just hit the unlock switch on the door.
  12. That's amazing, it looks brand new again! Nice job :winky:
  13. Checked this out and mine doesn't do it - but it is also not mentioned in the manual either. Is yours a pre-2001 car by any chance?
  14. I think he's referring to the base cushion, and I can see from your photo it's a bit stretched out. If it's only to that extent I doubt they'd replace that under warranty, it's wear and tear and quite normal for aniline leather to behave that way. I'm sure I've heard that using a hairdryer can shrink leather to tighten it back up again but can't remember the details.
  15. Welcome to LOC! Nice car, wonder who's it is, the white ones are super rare so it shouldn't be too hard to narrow down, only members I can remember with white cars were Matt (the Monster) and Robs Lexx but can't remember what his looked like.......
  16. It was partially relevant in terms of your comment about it being the same as your GS300 - which under the new groups is actually group 37, considerably higher than the CT. In relation to the difference, it'll be the cost of repairs as a guess. Just quickly looking over the spec, a front end bump in a premier will require the replacement of LED headlamps, which I imagine probably cost quite a bit more than the halogens in the other models. Again rear end may require replacement of the reverse camera, arguably not that expensive but more than the standard car. Also can't ignore that the premier costs a considerable amount more than the other two, so in the case of a total loss claim the payout will need to be higher. Finally I'll add that a 2 group jump on the 50 group scale is not the same as with the old 20 group scale so would hope the difference in actual insurance premiums wouldn't be that large.
  17. Completely forgot about this, thanks I'll check it out :)
  18. Unless they're brand new that's quite an optimistic price he's asking. I got mine for £200 including tyres so if you're patient you'll probably get some for less.
  19. Really? If you have it to hand, what page is that on? I'll have to check that out as I'm pretty sure mine doesn't do that
  20. Hard luck mate, can understand that being annoying! Are you far from Lexus Woodford? They have a great bodyshop and quite reasonably priced too. Speak to Sean if you go in :)
  21. Yep despite its flaws for business users it is a no-brainer - and this is exactly what Lexus are aiming at.
  22. I suppose technically you could fit an IS250 rear seat and seat belt as all the mounting points should be the same/present? Not sure what issues there would be though with registering the car as a 5 seater, and insurance too........
