  1. I absolutely agree with everything Herbie says. The standard 12v battery is just for the control electronics. When you are away, do you disable keyless entry? It will save about 300mA on the early models. Not solving sourcing the problem I know but may help your situation. I actually disable mine every night. Habit now. It's a pity Lexus haven't yet built in a circuit to pull some current from the traction batteries if the 12v battery is too low. Not something you would use all the time but in an emergency would help. Hyundai have done that with the Ioniq and Nero having a "temporary battery reset routine" which they call it. Nice touch.
  2. Sony do have the best algorithms - sammy is soft in comparison, I've not a fantastic amount of experience in this but do know the TV's have the detail enhancement which alters the original image a little more. LG's is Excellent. Oh no just realised - talking non Lexus chat in a an Lexus or even car related area. Oops sorry.
  3. yes how dare you try making general non related Lexus conversation in the correct area for non Lexus related topics....... Good job it's been pointed out.
  4. So did they do anything other than attempt to read the diagnostic code? Irrelevant whether it was intended to be hear or not. Yes it should be brought to someones attention because the engineer clearly doesn't give a toss of the features and what anyone what think about them. He's paid to do it. Basically he's just said you're an idiot for even bringing it up. I wouldn't publish it publicly, I'm with Verbout. He won't get the sack at all we all know that. He should be taking pride in what he does. Even if it's a job he hates, there's no need to belittle the customer.
  5. I suspect it may have been a warning on that particular model as there isn't in my neighbours car. Even Lexus own 450h documentation says: Long-term parking. If the vehicle has been parked for a long time, the 12-volt and the hybrid battery will discharge gradually. For parking longer than about 30 days, charging of the 12-volt battery may be required. Your Lexus dealer has details. To keep the hybrid battery in good condition, drive the vehicle at least once every several months for at least 30 minutes or ten miles. If the hybrid battery becomes fully discharged and the vehicle will not start, even with a jump start to the 12-volt battery, contact your Lexus dealer. If that manual is definitely from your model then I would go ahead with jump starting. Being Hybrid has nothing to do with being able to jump start it or not. If anything it would be some of the control electronics that could be susceptible to transient spiking, which is why some have dedicated jump start connections as there is a additional filtering on some. Does everything appear to power up when you had the smart charger on? Do you get any dash lights/warnings? These smart chargers aren't sometimes 100% accurate because of the way they try to measure the current. You could try manually charging the battery with a good old fashioned charger, or leaving the jump leads on for a couple of minutes before actually trying to start the car. All hybrid systems have a low voltage protection system but not sure on the 450 if that would disable the car starting completely. Usually there is a warning on the dash. The alarm won't permanently disable the vehicle, only when in triggered condition.
  6. The other thing to be weary of with cheap cameras is the interference they give off.Especially cameras from abroad that may not be CE approved even though they are marked as being so.
  7. If it's not the camera or wiring to it itself, (very likely it is though, I agree completely with jackcramerr) just double check where power was taken for it. The antenna coax feed comes from the rear through the centre column and past the cig lighter socket into the reasr of the ML so quite possible there is a nick or even dislodged the connector slightly when they opened up for the connection. The coax connector is roughly alongside the the door for the cup holder in the centre console..
  8. I'm assuning it's not as easy as it goes better when you unplug it? IF not something else going on and might be worth Lexus looking at the antenna amp. The time shift allows you to step back and listen to something again. Leave it on zero for real time. I've not played with it much but I've gone back 5 mins when I missed something on the news.
  9. Lee, instead of pressing the same button to open them again, press the auto button - they will open and be back in auto.
  10. It's usually the amp turning on before the radio so picking up the crap the headunit generates as it powers up. Does your amp switch on using the blue control as Neil says? If you are just powering on and have your control (not power) directly to iginition then instead you'll need to connect it to the headunit control or, as you say put a delay onto the power on. You can throw together a delayed relay swtich on but just need a little more circuitry for the delay. This circuit will give about 3 secs delay.
  11. Yes you are! Just seen in another post you're Exmouth way. I've got very fond memories of there from when I was a kid. We went every year from when I was about 5 to 11 years old. I'm trying to think of the name of the lovely old woman that owned the house we stayed in the upper floors she rented out. I've often thought about going back but wonder if it would spoil my many memories...... Madeira walk which was MILES long..... as I got a bit older having to be rescued from the rocks at Orcome point more than once. Are all the brightly coloured beach huts still there? We used to hire one for the fortnight. There was a loose floorboard and I buried some treasure there one year (some lego). Not realising we had a different one every year. I was convinced someone had found it.... Absolutely beautiful place.
  12. Wow - this still going and people making to them to sell! If they were making millions I'd put a claim in! Making a few quid and benefitting everyone works out ok. I might adapt it for the IS250 - you can connect without having to get into the door. (contrary to two commercial units out there). If I get some time I'll throw one together and shove it on here.
  13. Well, I've held off and held off but can't wait. I know it would wind me up. I was one of the unlucky ones that they just could not cure the dashboard noises and it annoys me up every time I get in the car. I accepted too many repairs for a rejection when I bought it. I'm not paying for a better quality car with known issues. If cars are being rejected and losing custom, I suspect Lexus will be pushing a lot into solving the issues, it's just not happening soon enough unfortunately but after 3 updates and people still having issues, this has confirmed I'm not going to be buying.
  14. Or go to Maplins, pick up some Polymorph and create your own supports and plastic reforms. I did mine. Doesn't have to look good as they are underneath the plate itself. Heat it up in hot water and create some columns where the originals ones where. Takes a little while to cool down so you can take back to the car and push into place. I did mine over 12 months ago and still solid.
  15. I sort of agree but I'm trying to wait a little longer if I can. I was one of the unlucky ones with the IS250 dash rattle that couldn't be solved. I've been to pretty much every dealer in the North West over the years and it annoys me EVERY time. I'm not going to spend £38k on a car that the satnav cuts out or loses a phone book shortcut - stuff I use every single day. So yes, it does put me off the car. I think this is quite reasonable. When I was in Lexus Liverpool there was someone in there with this problem and the odds of that as I happened to be in seem quite high really. He hadn't tried to research it on the net and didn't know of this site. I suspect there are a lot more out there. I only hope version C does the trick as I'm running out of time! My Lexus history is long but find the lack of information disappointing. Those of you who know me on here know I'm a fully qualified electronics engineer working with extremely complex hardware and software systems over the years so I'm more than qualified to find this unacceptable professionally as well as personally.
  16. Lexus have now released another update. FYI latest software version is now VC03101C. Get booked into your local dealer. I'd be interested to see what this version gives. I have delayed renewing my car and quite honestly reluctant to buy with these issues. I have to make a decision within the next week or so, I've got no chance of delaying again.
  17. Thanks Apline, I don't suppose you have a name do you? I was in Lexus Bolton on Thursday when they called Lexus UK on my behalf and was told they couldn't give any date. Any chance you could PM the response if you don't want to post publicly? I agree they probably will iron out the issues and this will be my 4th Lexus. I refuse to go through issues that will frustrate me every day when I'm spending over 35k and I'm more than reasonable to expect a timeline, especially as I am in the software and electronics industry. I put up with the dashboard rattles/cracks for months before the solutions but knowing there was one didn't make it any better. I've managed to delay when I need to buy the car by a couple of weeks so the response you have from Lexus UK would be really helpful. I actually want to buy the car - I'm not putting arguments against it, only my reasons for being out off when there is another car I'm particularly looking at.
  18. You're absolutely right and it must seen like I'm spitting out my dummy. There are things that can put us off and with the mileage and amount I'm in the car, this could be a biggy for me. As an example, with my 250 I was one that had the dreaded cracks and creeks that even to this day are still there in a (very) small way. In saying that, every time I hear a crack it goes through me now after all this time. Obviously I've had the dash clips done several times and even took it to a different dealer. I don't want to go through a similar thing that will annoy me for months on end. Sorry to digress, it was the issue of the small things that can get to us. It's the timing that is out really - there is no question there are going to be teething problems with a new car. That doesn't mean I have to buy it just because there is a reason. I like the car. I like the service. Sometimes though, its so near perfect that the issues don't matter. Something like these in this thread and others I'm reading when I'm literally at the point of deciding yes or no against another car are enough to sway because it really is very close. BUT.... If I knew there was a regular update schedule in place from the developers and what exactly is happening, I'd be very happy. Its because I don't have the option of waiting a little while I guess. I think the reason I'm posting is because I really do want one and was hoping there would be a solution so well worth the post if we do get a response.
  19. Have they? Who was it and can you give me the details please? I'm assuming it was Lexus UK as I work closely with a lot of UK dealers who don't have this confirmation but it is Saturday and I've only rang a few contacts. The reason is is so critical is because I have to decide which car I have by next week or I lose my company allowance. I'm teetering and just can't decide. I wouldn't like to leave Lexus and this would make all the difference. I do a lot of mileage and there are many pro's and cons to all vehicles I've been looking at.
  20. All very interesting and disappointing. I was ready to buy and having trouble making a decision. This has swayed me away. As I'm in the car a huge amount, it is very important to me.
  21. Yep - just behind and to the right. I've used a 16GB class6 on those videos so a class 10 will be more than adequate.
  22. Camera main unit just behind the rear view mirror, slightly to the drivers side. The rear camera is in the middle of the rear window. I took the wires under the dash, out to the right of the drivers door and up the A pillar. Across the roof lining and out of the front by the mirror. The rear cam I took from the front mirror, along the same track as the power, right along the drivers side roof lining to the rear, then out near the middle of the rear window. You can easily push something from the outside edges into the middle of the windows to get the cables through. It's the same for the 200 as the 250. I ran some cables into the roof when I did full closure on my 200. The only thing you MUST be careful of is the curtain bag so make sure the cables are secure and don't cross it in any way to get tangled.
  23. ???? You want proof? I'm not getting into that sillyness. There is a lot going on on that road and its changing weekly at the moment with all sorts of temporary lights, signs, etc. because of new housing estate being built while demolishing the school and completing Tesco's. The residents are in arms over it and its always making the local papers. It just seemed quite clear that day.
