  1. spend the money!! dont buy a cheap one or you WILL regret it.. habent heard anybody happy with the quality of the cheapo units.. i swear by kenwood stuff so here is my suggestion.. kenwood KVT627 dvd
  2. @rob - yes was a bit of a memory lane for me too.. had a superlight weight marin and a Kona trail bike at uni. Funnily enough not much has changed since then, nearly 10 years! not bad for £250! @wozza - looks like my ipod is the most i can do on the ice front! might mount my N95 on the handle bars the will have video, sat nav and music all through bluetooth headphones!! could be an expensive accident waitin to happen! as for brakes.. it will be hydraulic 2 pot discs all round! @stav - that would need to go on the old legs!! could do with one too.. 20 mins on it earlier and they went all wobbly! next lexus mod might be a cycle carrier!!
  3. so the summer is nearly here and the sun is shining.. Petrol prices are going through the roof so i though i would go Eco-Friendly!! my rims! suspension! mods added, mud flap and drink bottle (im gonna need it) to come: helmet, trip computer, pump, disc brakes!!
  4. looks great! where did you get the cloth armrest?? was it standard? though they only came in leather?
  5. try Badial Motors in Coventry.. had a complete front end Jigged and resprayed on a 306 and was spot on! they insurance approved repairers too.. may be able to get a deal done if you had your acc repair work done there?
  6. firstly sorry to hear this.. i would be lost if i lost my phone!! now lets see if i can help.. Any body that sells insurance is regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority). The ethos of the FSA is Treating Customers Fairly and in my opinon you havent been treated fairly. You did report the handset lost to your network and through an error at the network end it was not blacklisted. I asume it has now been blacklisted. You would not be aware that its 3's policy not to blacklist and i would say that they should ask you if you want this done. I think on appeal if they are an insurance company of any sorts then this 'should' be overturned. I would try to see if anybody else can deal with this but think as its a Bank Holiday Weekend then it may be Tuesday before you get any further. If that doesnt get you any joy then you can make a formal compliant to the insurance company which should be dealt with in 7 days (normally although some companies differ). If that doesnt work bring any joy then i would advise complaining to the FSA who surprsingly are very helpfull!! 3 should be able to provide a new sim card although you may not get this until tues/wed due to the post but they shoud be able to forward your calls to another number (at a cost of course) unfortunatley the contract you sign up to is for the service and not for the phone so there are no grounds for your contract to be terminated.. sorry.. In case you are wondering, i work for Carphone Warehouse and i train people to sell insurance so i fairly well versed in this aspect!! fell free to conatct me if you need any further help..
  7. would say the best most cost efficent way would be to do the big three.. 1) alternator positive to battery positive 2) battery negative to chassis 3) engine ground to chassis walkthrough then invest in a decent battery, doesnt have to be a big optima (although woulod be best) but a new, highly rated, battery. think its the bosch asia tech / silver tech?? that some people on here use?? again, as wozza said, this is my opinion..
  8. they are very cheap to make and stores have a massive mark up on them.. A simple explanation of why they are no good is as follows.. your alternator charges the battery, the cap sits between the bat and amp and needs to be charged. the batt 'charges' the cap. all so good so far... when the bass kicks in it takes its power from the path of least resistance ie the cap which pretty much drains in micro seconds! To keep the power coming the power comes through the cap form the battery but it is also looking for some of that power to charge it also.. if the cap was extremely efficint and was capable of massive storage (even the 5 farad caps arent enough) then they may have some use.. Now this is how i understand it but may not be 100% accurate. Rather than spend this money i would upgrade to a good battery. A cap will not stop the lights dimming, and may make it worse. I have one in at the moment but was definately a mistake!!
  9. nope.. invest in a new battery.. no good whatsoever.. i have one but will be getting rid of it.. prob throw it in with my stuff for sale..
  10. without hearing and purely on track record... Diamond. in phase is the companys own brand... ( if i remeber correctly)
  11. gutted! i may be completely wrong but unless it is a non stopping area (red routes or urban clearway) i dont understand how this can be correct. you were in the car and stopped for a few mins which i thought was within the law?? i would appeal anyway nd see what happens. i appeal all of the fines i get and most of the time they cant be bothereed to respond and they get overturned..
  12. you could just wire these upto a switch to allow you to switch on and off independently if you wanted.. im definately interested in set too so if they fit maybe a group buy is in order!!
  13. http://www.runyourcarwithwater.com whos gonna try it first!!
  14. i had a ck7w car kit previously and that was ok but didnt have the screen.. the previous parrot was good until it started freezing. prob wouldnt have changed it if i didnt get it as part of work but glad i did now!! the visor one you have seems pretty good but cant be doin with charging another thing in the car!
  15. ok, so i joined the chat room thingy today but nobody in.. does anybody use it and if so what times??
  16. parrok ck3200.. was ok.. occasionaly had annoying echo. prob only needed a software rest but did crash occasionally. I think its the best option if you use different phone manufacturers but if you use one brand you will always get better compatability with same brand. The one thing i really didnt like is the screen and control are one unit so if you knock the control the the screen can come loose.. and i couldnt do this install with that one!!
  17. cheers.. reckon i could fit one of these form start to finsih inc visor mounting in an afternoon with a bit of help.. only thing i might do is spray the black surround to a suitably matching grey..
  18. i installed a new bluetooth car kit a few weeks ago.. fortunatley work supply me with one so i decided to go for the CK15W (have only had a nokia phone for the last 5 years so seemed a good choice) Now i installed it and put the screen under the stereo and the control wheel ontop of the ash tray (cant see it in the pic but is just under the bottom of the pic) looked ok but felt it was getting in the way and a potential thief magnet so i decided some modifications were in order.... firstly it really annoys me to have to reach down to the control so i thought the best place would be down on the right where i rest my arm. so i fed the loom through the door loom and fixed it to the window control panel: now i also wanted to relocate the screen and had an idea to hide it so it couldnt be seen and yet also in a position that made it easier to see whilst driving. So i thought i would mount it in the sun visor and could hide it away when the car is parked.. here are a few pics of how it went on and how it looks finished.. mounted with wiring loom still to finish: new wiring loom through original mounting: mounted back and all working! in the dark: not bad for an afternoons work.
  19. an alternative that will give you full acces to teh spare wheel is to build a 'rack' in the corners of teh boot and mount them there. i have one in each corner.. i would ditch the cap, i have one currently biut getting rid of it. they do absolutely nothing unless its a very expensive one..
  20. ebay: 220224555136 do people really think that its this easy to add BHP to a car and if it is this easy why havent ANY car companies apready done it!!
  21. black on plat ice... set of nicely with tinted windows and the wind deflectors IMO!
  22. not easily done if you want to use the oem system. there are w few places that will do it but costs over £500.. i am trialing another system that will be less than half that and include a built in TV tuner but is taking a while to get it shipped over and test fully.. by far the easiest option is to remove the oem screen and add your own in its place. the oem sat nav isnt the best either..
  23. long eaton is best for me.. how about somewhere in the middle of the midlands? anybody know a good place in derby or burton (they seem central to me!)
  24. have you looked on here? http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.php?cat=613 http://www.aceparts.com/all-led-bulbs/led-...ors-tail-bulbs/ http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/automotive-bulb...b4294a4fc5ad81e about the same price as ebay and all in the UK.. wide selection to choose from too.
