    Just read the post again :iraqi-info-minister: i thought garage would pay for clutch if oil was to blame .so ignore last comment it will not help :D

    I am gonna convert it into a mk2 :D .(better front end than the mk1 will keep the rear though).the underside of the light unit has some type of paint on it and it has peeled (would post a pic but i am :tsktsk: if i can figure it out)need to take them out and repaint .also am going to have a go at taking the yellow out of the front indicators :zee:

    You are probaly right if there is oil in there as it can really only come from the engine probaly main oil seal (crankshaft).However most warrentys do not cover oil seals so you will probaly have no luck there .Are you sure it is not gearbox oil .I would take it to another garage and if the clutch is just worn pour a gallon of oil on it :D.The clutch that is not the car

    Any one know if i have to take of bumper to remove headlights i had a quick look but thought i would ask first as a few of the bolts look hidden

    Just be carefull with that service history not only will it be hard to sell on but you have no proof of the real mileage .remember these cars do star ship mileage before they even start to show there age .Check it through the dealer network or hpi the car they also do mileage verification.Good luck looks like a nice example.

    Do the accident damaged cars show on the HPI register in this country or is this not a factor when importing .I have been toying with the idea of a supra twin turbo or an aristo vertex? .

    If anyone has a sport model mk1 GS300 check the mountings for the rear spoiler as i took of the rubbers today that conceals the nuts that hold it on and found the dreaded RUST ,It is not terrible but not what you would expect on a 6 year old lexus .looks like they just drilled the holes and slapped the spoiler on with no concern as to the bare metal on the holes.Also do,s anyone know if i have to remove front bumper to take of front lights

    I can see what you are saying and my comment was not directly aimed at this bloke and his hobby but at the whole point of packing your car out with enough speakers to supply a concert at wembly stadium just to be able to say i am the loudest .I mean come on how many people have been sitting in their garden on a nice sunny day and you can hear mr corsa comming from the next town with his bass up full blast if it was your neighbour playing his hi fi you would soon be banging on the wall.

    Problem with this type of hobby is all of have to be subjected to it including my kids when the bass box brigade leave the pubs and clubs at 11.30 at night and drive past my house with it on full blast. Nuff said

    Done it and without a single problem i reckon lexus tell you the memory will be lost so they can charge you for it .Thanks for the offer mike 246 and i see what you mean about the screw head seems like it is made from a very soft metal.Also it takes batt no CR2025

    I have heard they carry a machine to test it with but i am sure if you stay well away from the legal limit you will be fine .surely it must just be the realy dark ones that are being pulled.

    I need to replace the remote batts in my GS as now both are nearly dead ,i have to stand almost next to the door to get it to work.Is it true that i will lose the memory if i change the batts myself ,i have also heard there is a time limit of 8 secs .I would take it to dealer but round trip of 50 miles .

    the only prob with magnetic strips is they pick up small peices of dirt and when you apply to your car they do even more damage.I try to find the most distant corner of the car park to park the car on its own ,problem is some :tsktsk: always parks next to me when i come back usually far to close and has opened thier door onto mine so i just run my key down the side of their car makes me feel much better :D .Sorry if that afends anyone but this is one of my biggest gripes every new car i get gets car park dents within a couple of weeks of me getting it .

    Having owned the 850 T5R and the V70 R i would have to say probaly the best all round cars i have ever had.I would swop my gs300 for a low mile V70R anyday the only problem is finding one they hold their value so well the only ones that seem to be around have done starship milage .As for compairing the is with a volvo it would have to be the S40 and i know i would chose the is 200 anyday for looks ,but put the is200 up against a S40 T4 and it would leave the is standing

    I see thet article in the lexus mag to, looks the nuts :) .never been a fan of the mk2 but i have now been converted just need to save another 30k and its all mine

    I have a mk1 and the only noise i hear is the center arm rest every now and then so i oil the catch with wd 40 prob solved .i have had vws volvos etc and this car is by far the quietest i have had .have to agree with dreadfull stereo though mine is pants.Could it be the rubbers on the doors or perhaps doors need adjusting(pulling in tighter onto door sills)had this prob on an A4 so adjusted door catch and this cured problem.

    Hope you put it in a very posh bin or it would have felt very out of place :D.Tony it was sent by the dealer i think. You may have mine if you like i will clean of the bean juice and potato peelings

    Just got the lexus magazine in the post and was interested to see what you all think .I think it is probaly the worst car magazine i have read ,sorry flicked through .
