  1. I got my lex because it did not have the stigma of BMW. I did fancy a merc but by the time I cost up all the extras I would need another £10K. If people want to call it a poor mans BMW let the uninteligent call it what they like. When I got mine home the first thing I got told is the Lexus is the choice of the Drug Dealers in Liverpool. Upside is not many people would consider nicking it. A friend of mine Big BMW fan even thinks my Lexus is better than the 3 series and will be looking at Lexus when he gets rid of his 5 series.
  2. Is the warrenty extention an insurance pollicy from AON if so you might get some luck with the Finiacial Services Ombudsmen or whoever deals with the Insurance, as this is a clear case of misselling and the dealer could be in a lot of trouble. Also have a word with the citizens advice buraux as you might have a claim against the dealer in the small claims court for the lost amount of the policy. It would not look good for dealer having CCJ's so as a goodwill gesture would pay you off. good luck.
  3. I thought about Beemer but when I went into the dealers in Warrington, I got disguisted looks yet again Jeans and rugby shirt dont go. After not even getting May I help you decided to leave the beemer alone. Have nt regreted that decision
  4. It could be worth giving http://www.pixmania.com/uk/uk/index.html I just bought a new Cannon 895i from them and saved on the UK list price. My Views are HP are good but if you are printing photos you must go for seperate colours as you will be able to see which colour needs changing the most. In a recent which test Canon swept the board They recomended Canon i560 – £89 from branches of Jessops I have used most brands from HP to Lexmark and out of them for Colour I found Epson or Canon to be the best. If the budget can stretch to 895i I recomend it plus it can print on to CD's and has all the bits to do the standard sized photo paper without the need to cut after printing.
  5. I was due to get a set when I had the car serviced and let the dealer fit them. However the dealer talked me out of them because they have had a number of faults with them. THey would not go in to too much detail but said if I would not get 12 months out of them! Now I know what they were talking about.
  6. I have to say Melbourne in 2000. Went working at th GP and it was a wonderful weekend with plenty of beer. I also got taken around Albert Park in Holden Comadore V8 and I want one :) On the other side never had a bad holliday in Frace it is a great country and will be back there soon
  7. I really do want one. If the new IS is going to look similar where do I sign?
  8. I would say it does look similar. Some one at work told me the NEW 1 series looks like the Rover 25, and after looking at the pictures they are similar
  9. That explaines it. THe cd's are ripped with Exact Audio Copy (to get rid of that awful Copy protection that record compannies put on many CD's) and before I get moaned at most of the CD's I have ripped are my own personal CD's not copys The cd is burnt as Audio with either Nero (at home) or Roxio (in work) in both case they are not burnt as data. This has solved a mystery as I was not too sure if burnign as audio did create it as CDA. Cheers for clearing it up Cheeky.
  10. I am confused Have been searching the fourums about MP3 to be told that I can not play MP3 on IS200, but I can. I do burn as audio not data but they still are burnt as MP3. The only difference is my CD writer is slow burns at tops 6 speed, and these CD's work. TO test my theory I tried it in work with a CD burnt at 8 speed and it plays. The cd is copying MP3 not CDA as the stuff is in my hard drive. When I did a fast burn of a cd (48 speed) the cd wont play. The thing is the slow speed burns play on other CD players which are not supposed to be able to read MP3 and when I check the disc on teh DVD and PC both say MP3 not CD. Can anyone shed light on to why it can play when burnt slow. It has stumped a few people who are technical. :mat:
  11. I currently have the P-zero's on and have been impressed with them, In the past have had Michelin which I found excellent in the wet and seemed to last ages, Goodyear which were as good as the Michelin and Continental which for me the worst tyres I have had. Avon are very good and are used by Rolls Royce and Bently so can not get much better recomendation!
  12. I used to use it but the garges that it tells me sells super unleaded, don't and the garges that do are not listed. on the other topic just paid £45 on Sunday for Super at Esso in St. Helens.
  13. Have to say I was pretty "*****" off by German service. If I am honest I loved the Audi Quattro as young boy and I was now available to afford one. Go to 3 audi dealers not one wanted to sell me the car, granted I was only 26 when I went looking, yes I had a part ex but it was a cash sale. The dealers did not want to sell me the car, kept asking how much I had to spend, and I would only tell them I had enough to buy the A4 Quattro and I wanted a test drive. I got excuse after excuse for not getting the test drive, never returned phone calls. I was asked by 2 dealers is a company car as if it is not they would only do a deal if I go through Finance. They did not have brochures and never sent them out to me, I had to get them via the net from Audi UK and they sent out the wrong info. Audi UK promised me the test drive never got it. On the upside Audi did talk to me which is more than B*W dealers did. I must not be worthy enough to own one. Lexus on the other hand (and considering in all cases I went in wearing Jeans and T-shirts) did no prejudging phoned back when they called me when they said they would, arranged the test drive when suitable for me and could not do enough to sell me the car. Yes I am biased and the only time Audi spoke to me was after I complained by which time Lexus got my cash, Audi amazingly offered the test drive to me. Maybe it was my age but to me Audi and BMW are over rated for customer service. If I bought German it would be a Merc, because I know my local dealers OK but they are overpriced IMHO.
  14. Not too sure if they do tuning but Boundry Road Motorsport in St,. Helens has a good Reputation and have been around for a while.
  15. I have been lucky met a fair few. Met David Coulthard at Euro tunnel, Rubans Barricello & Johny Herbert at Melbourne, Jaques Villenuve at Silverstone. Last year met Jackie Stewert, Jack Brabbham, Derek Bell, all the Tocca drivers, and F3 drivers. Plus met Jensen Button in 1999. Ahh the joys of motorsport marshalling Have met meatloaf at the G-MEX whilst making use of the facilities!
  16. I would complain to the parrent company of the group, and I have heard of similar problems with said group before but not with Lexus. You should push for the free service as an appology as you felt harrassed by them, and the fact they tried to break the contract with you. Also state you are now not sure as to having the car serviced with that particular Lexus dealer, as others are just as close. It might work in your favour, and what have you lost nothing. Remind the dealer that you went to them because of the good dealings with there VW franchise. Glad it is all sorted now.
  17. My manager sent me this link today of Ari Vatenan in the 3 peaks challange with his Peogot. You really need broad band to download it but it is well worth it http://www.geocities.com/nosro/climbdance/
  18. I have to say perfectly norma. On the day I picked mineup I did over 100 miles "Learning" the. It is a great drive and I took it on a daytrip to France via Wolverhampton and Oxford. It went like a dream. The car is great and I am glad I dont spend all the time on the motorway so I can drive it on the country roads in cheshire.
  19. I am currently with Zurich at £970 fully comp with 4 years NCB protected and covering me for work at the young age of 27 . Have tried a number of brokers, websites, and LOC and this was the best price, thanks to the post code lottery. When I was in Stevenage with the primera it was £610. If the Lexus was down there it would drop to £750. In both cases my car is parked outside. My advice is to get on the insurance ladder ASAP that way you can build up the NCB quicker I found that there is not much of a drop at 25 have been told by most people it happens more at 30.
  20. Corby I have PM'd you with who Lexus Chester have recomended to me.
  21. Thanks everyone. I would bid for the 17" but wont go well with the 18" pitty as the were cheap. Have spoken to Lexus and a couple of Alloy repair places near work all say Alloy must be replace. I will at least attempt to get the council to pay and have now got details from them of where to put the claim in. THe upside is the wheel will be replace on Thursday and Lexus Chester are checking the car over for any other damage.
  22. Not a happy bunny Hit a pot hole in Burtonwood on Friday and it has compleatly bent the inner rim of the Alloy. When I changed the wheel on Friday night and realised what has happened phoned a few alloy repairers and everyone has said can not be repaired So now have to get a new alloy. Are the council liable? what can I do? The reoad around Burtonwood is covered in pot holes but don't know which hole I hit. Mind you it could be alot worse
  23. I don't know if it is me but if I am on the BBC stations I do get a drop in reception in the country lanes to work at times. What is worse even in St. helens I get the traffic news for BBC Leeds and Sheffield. So the radio can not be that bad as my old Primera never got that!
  24. I dont see that many IS's. If I am lucky there are 2 in our office car park mine and someone elses, and training centre round the corner has 5 IS's a 1 GS. Still see more 3 series on the motorway than I do IS's, so can not say they are that commen and considering last year around 10,000 new Lexus cars were sold compared to 100,000 BMW's we can safely the lexus is not that commen.
  25. This kept many people laughing in our office today. Honestly I did do some work
