  1. Couple of suggestions would recomend the Norton Antivirus( I use it) and have tried a number of alternatives. As long as you keep udating the virus definitions only you will not have any problems. As for firewalls I have tried a number including MaCaffe, norton and Black ICe. I settled for Zone Alarm Pro with using broad band connection. It has to be one of the better firewalls I use. Also if you buy the pro version you can get extra software for free and a cheep option of buying an anti-trojan package. All of these add up to some not to bad protection. The reason i use them is I got atacked via a Microsoft website. I would also recomend people look at using Opera, Mozilla or ( the last) Netscape in place of IE and Outlook the reason is they are not Microsoft products therefore do not get attacked as much and they have less bug fixes sent out for them. ANother bonus of Netscape 7.1 anti- popup software. When it comes to antivirus dont cut corners as software like Panda, penecillin ect don't get updated as quickly as the likes of Sopus, Norton and MaCafee so I would only look at those 3.
  2. If you buy in Germany it will come as standard. thats why when you by a VW Audi, Merc, and BMW they all have them.
  3. I love the original mini, as provides great racing along with the 2CV, talking to friends in Melbourne they say the new mini is not as exciting as the original. If I was looking at buying a supermini maybe I would go for the smart car with a few tweeks made by those lovely people at Brabus. Will cost about the same and will definatly be different. From my own view I think the Mini should go back to what it was a fun cheap, small car, not what it is at the moment.
  4. Well RM for a change let me be the first to welcome you to the club. I left nissan behind this after changing a Primera for the Lexus. i have found the IS200 has great comfort and pretty stable. My primeria did not like the wet very much untill I put Michilin tyres on, and the same roads it did not like the Lexus is great. So I would say the Lexus is pretty stable. As for speed yes it is not the quickest out the bag but mid gears it is great and is very responsive. Looking at what people on here have done you can get a lot done and up the power. On the other hand the Lexus you do not see many on the road and when you compare it to others in it's class I think it comes out well hence why I bought one. My suggestion is get a 24 hour test drive ( i am sure dealers in Italy will be helpful) of both cars and go for the one you like best. Remembe the Lexus will hold it's value better than the nissan.
  5. A friend of mine staunch SAAB lad, canned his mini cooper order, the comments were too expensive for what it was, had to buy extras, and it is a BMW. Go for a real mini cooper from the 60's not an imitation one.
  6. If it was me I would seriously look at the Flacon, it is one of the few Fords I do like. However why not consider the Holden HSV, I had the grin being taken round Albert park in one. They are great fun. Alternatively go with the IS I love mine!
  7. I found it very helpful and found it on Google.
  8. I love my lexus it is my precious toy, however some little Bar**ad (possibley a neighbours son) has stolen my valve nuts from the alloys this morning whilst out in another car. :tsktsk: How much does a replacement set cost? they are the standard Lexus ones which came with the 18" wheels. If I find them on his bike, what would happen if I steel them back. Of course I will tell the parrents for what good that will do. Is it Chris who is at Lexus Leicester? as I would like to use the Gold Discount which is not offered at Chester. Geez I take the car Birmingham, and France and nothing happens but on my own drive. What has happend to the world we live in
  9. Must have been given the extras for free - now that would be a great deal :D Enjoy the new motor george - I too nearly bought a Merc C class the only thing that tipped Lexus was the dealer as our Merc dealer has a strangle hold in the area.
  10. I dont think you can do anything about the kid but you could claim from the parrents, as the child is below 12 which I think is the age where they can be charged as a juvinille for there actions.
  11. Must admit I too would be interested in trying it, if any spare pieces can missing
  12. Even if you are outside the 24hr limit still report it. The police took 4 months to see my mum about a non accident ( thrown out of court) she will be possibly done for Failing to stop at an accident, Failing to report an Accident and failing to exchange perticulars. Also it could be worth getting your insurence involved as they will chase her up.
  13. My advice would have been to reject the bumper re-spray and ask for a new bumper. If the dealer refuses then reject the car and ask for a replacement. I would not have accepted a re-spray. The main reason is the paints are very hard to match especially dark colours. With the car being new it should not be as much of a problem. As you have accpeted the re-spray (in the eyes of the dealer) then it is harder to get thebumber replaced. However if the stress marks re-apear then you can reject the bumper. did the dealer tell you he / she was doing a re-spry ? if so you might have a good chance of having a new bumper fitted
  14. How much do they cost I might have to put some on to my SE
  15. I have just read the review and noticed they don't tell you exactly how the tested the security. A brick through a window? a locksmith? The review seems odd as they tell you they constantly publish the New Car Security Rating http://www.ncsr.co.uk/ on here the IS200 gets 5 for theft off (top marks) and 4 for Theft From which is the same as the Bavarian Muppet Wagon and the A4 and Theft From is higher than Nissan. Would love to know then how the which weighting works as the insurence compannies say the Lexus has good security
  16. Definatley agree don't look at the S. I have just got my SE and added the styling kit to, and they look great. Get out there and grab a test drive. You will not be disapointed. I had the car for a day and made my mind up. If you add the Style kit ( and Lexus has offers on it) you get excellent 18" Alloys, sports grill, smaller spoiler (on SE) and a skirt added. It is not bad option at the moment. If you want the Sat Nav it is something like an Extra £2k on top of the car. Also on the Sport the susspension is lowered. Seen as nobody else has said it when get the car ( as you will ) go GOLD well worth it for the discounts!
  17. The Gold membership pack arrived. Oh yeah the car came yesterday too and what fun I have had. Can not believe I considered a BMW when the hidden fun of Lexus is much more enjoyable. If it was not for what I had read on these forum I might if had a Bervarien Muppet Wagon :iraqi-info-minister:
  18. Davecat I am still waring my grin from a week ago and still can not believe I bought the SE with styling kit. Makes my 6 year old Primera ( which still drives very well but looks dated thanks to Nissans updates) feel slow and I forget it is only 5 speed. The car arives on the 14th all I need now is my Ipaq sat nav ( or equivelent) system and I will be extremly happy.
  19. I agree the yearly subscription is not the best option, it is all down to how long you keep the car. Being under 30 the cost of the having the tracker fitted in the short term recouped it's money after 3 years on my last car, as my car is parked on a drive. The GAP insurence can be good but again it is all down to the small print, and at the moment not had a look at it yet, but did have a look at the one from Volvo which seemed good, but will be looking at the broker for a deal.
  20. The security was one of the reasons I plumped for a IS200 over the Audi ( the other is the Audi dealer only wanted to offer a test drive after I complained, Lexus could not do enough to help me). I digress anyway if you want to up the security you can always add a Tracker to it, should knock a bit more off the old insurance.
  21. I know on the test drive I hit the ton on the M56 without realising. Fourtunatley no Police. Of course Advance you did that on a private road :winky: At least I know what I am letting myself into now
  22. Well after 10 mins of my test drive in IS200 SE with styling kit I fell in love with the Lexus. After driving round Altrincham and cheshire without Traction control had the biggest cheesiest grin on my face. Everyone loved it one of the best cars I have driven even better than the old company merc. the stupid part is I have just Bought one from Lexus. So I get my SE next month in Platinum Ice with styling kit and I can not wait. Loved it. Lexus Chester no pressure you either like it or hate it. I will miss my current car but you guys and gals are right the IS 200 is fun and I am now sat like now and will be for a while to come. Now all need to do is go GOLD. Thanks everyone for advice
  23. That is real bad news mate. My mum was accused of going into the back of another in 2001 the police found no evidence on her car but had not seen the other. My mum was taken through the courts for charges including failing to stop at an accident. The courts threw it out due to no evidence. Now she is having to deal with a private prosecution. I would definatly hassle the police the only reason they don't want to do anything is paper work. Complain and get your insurence company to complain too. Mind you things can only get better. Good luck
  24. Sorry to some little scroat trying to get you car. The same thing happend to my neighbours car last year but it was found a week latter. I know it device to stop the car being half hinched, but it could be worth getting a tracker ( or equiverlent) fitted. They do help with the insurence cost, and if the car does go they have a better chance of retrieving it quickly. Even better are the ones that tracker phone you up to let you know they believe the car is being stolen. As I say they work I have never had to use mine and I dont want too, but I know it is there if the worse happens. If a car is stollen via the keys the insurence companies do pay out as they are aware of that the thieves are going to new lengths to steel. My only advice is don't leave keys on show if you have a draw keep them in that. Don't change the car though, it could have happend to any car on your street it is just you were unlucky.
