  1. It gaulls that I have to foot uninsured drivers. Even a hike to £2500 is to little, my view is a £10,000 fine, band from driving 12 months, made to re-sit the test, and the car crushed. I also think that more should be done to takle this than putting speed cameras left right and centre, as the more uninsured drivers that are on the road the greater the chance of an accident with them. Maybe the insurence compannies could set up a databse like they have for insurence fraud where the owners details are stored to confirm they are insured or if they have taken the car off the road and no longer using it.
  2. Have to say comming in on the back roads through cheshire the traction control did wonders. The snow button was used and the car was twitchy at the back. Have to say great fun driving in today I would probably not like going to many inclines though in this weather.
  3. I seem to remember Top gear talking about this a few years ago. THey used a ford mondeao and had set up a system that uses what the Gatzo's are calliberated with. At the speedo reading of 30mph the car was travelling at 33MPH, at 40 on the speedo the car according the Calliberation tool was actually doing 45MPH. The odd thing is when the speedo said the car was doing 70MPH it was actually doing around 63MPH. The conclusion was the Gatzo's are too acurate compared to the speedos in the car. Funny thing is not many people have picked up on this. Nick when I drive the Volvo it does not do 47mph on the A roads

  6. My brother in law was selling his Maganne and someone in South Africa wanted to buy. The fool agreed and was sent a cheaque, fortunatly the cheaque bounced before he arranged the transport of the car. That was november and the car is still sat on the drive!
  7. Asked around at work and found out the Stockport is Smith Knight Fay Thought they only did VW and Audi as they are popular around altrincham And to complete the list Newcastle according to a website is Minories which is part of the Lancaster group. List complete!
  8. and I thought free car wash, coffee and donoughts was a nice touch. Will no doubt be suggesting to friends when they buy a car (if after a Lexus) to join up and use Edinbourgh. Great to see a dealer taking in the spirit of the club Well done Ian

  10. I agree with this as that is the best way I have found to do it at most petrol stations. Also works at around the 8 oClock position

  14. I am with Zuric through a broker and they have no problems with it, nor do Royal Sun Alliance. best of luck
  15. glad to say it was not me, but have to feel for the driver, as that area is bad for accidents, only this morning we had a car fire. I hope no one was injured, a piece of metal can be fixed.
  16. I had to have one as it drops my insurence by £300. I got mine fitted at the Lexus, and I have found most dealers charge the same as what Tracker charge. It was on Roadrange who charged more. Like toad tracker can do it at your house. However for insurence purpose you do need it being fitted by a tracker approved company.
  17. I begrudgingly pay £998 Fully comp Business & Pleasure Parked on the drive and has traker monitor fitted, 5 years no claims and that is protected that is with Zurich through a broker I could have had it cheaper if I did not take no claims protection. My problem is I am 26 the car is new and I live near to some car crime hot spots.
  18. I have to say the worse car is the old mini. I saw a mini van in bright orange complete with spoiler on the roof (why?) faired out wheel arches, alloys, lowered suspension, the neon external lighting and the blu washer jet lights. Ruined a classic car. The spoiler I could understand if it was on a race track but talking to racer who races a modifed mini in the Europa engineering series, he said it did nothing and was more for show. On the other hand the best midified has to be Tony Sugdens (a racing driver who retired this year who is above the age of retirement) skoda. he put a cosworth engine in it. When he lft Oulton park one day a couple of "Youngsters" in there XR2i or whatever, tried to race him from the lights. They did the useual reving on the engine trying make their car look good. Tony left them standing . He says when they cought up at the next set of lights they looked embarrised. He was not sure whether it was they had just been beaten by a Skoda or it a pensioner had done it.
  19. sorry to hear about it mate. However it is not just on the white rose side of the Pennines it happens. My neighbour a Couger nicked with hook and rod method. The police are now warning people in the areas by putting ads in the local rag.
  20. I am guessing Alpine bought his car from the same place I did - Chester. Apparently you can take it to any of there dealerships and they do the car wash there.
  21. they also work all the time and plenty of people at night there are many people who go through at 70mph.
  22. Thanks everyone. Yes Colin light did come on. I am going to change the battery and see what happens.
  23. Talking to a traffic police officer in cheshire I was told it was news to him as he had seen the roumor and asked about it only be told no they are not putting cameras in sign. It is worth noting that Cheshire police now use Specs cameras at major road work areas - when they have them available, otherwise it is gatso's. I know on Thelwall viaduct a couple of thousand speeders were caught in a week.
  24. Yesterday I work I could unlock my car, start the car, but the remote button on the key would not lock the door. The spare keys work fine but what could of caused this? and does it need reprogramming?
