  1. It's probably just me being sceptical after viewing so many cars myself. So many adverts say things like "best car ever" but they only keep it for a few months. I've also found many times that someone else's idea of good condition is far from reality. Maybe I'm being unfair, if it's only 40 miles I'd view it for sure, as I say, the price is good.
  2. It looks very nice in the photos. Maybe it's just me but reading the description makes me uneasy, it doesn't fill me with confidence. Price is good though. Is it far from you?
  3. Certainly was with my GS. How you getting on with the LS Martin?
  4. While I was getting my 02 sensor fitted today I got them to check the knocking and they say anti roll bar links. I haven't got time to do it so it's going in on Friday. I'll report back on the outcome. At least the warranty covers this... apparently.
  5. It turns out the seat doesn't need removing. I had it done today by a local garage (that I trust!) £46+ which I'm more than happy with, the passenger side looks like the seat would have to come out though.
  6. I'd be happy with that. I mention it because mine is very rusty so on borrowed time.
  7. When I had my calipers lubed a couple of weeks ago I had the pads replaced at the same time, Pagid all round and they seem fine.
  8. Just out of interest can I ask what you paid for the exhaust system? I'm also unfamiliar with a PCV valve.
  9. I just had an 02 sensor from Rockauto in the States which was £52+ £5 postage, then there was an £8 Royal mail handling charge and £10 customs fee. It's a Denso part, £195 at main dealer. Well worth it if you don't mind waiting two weeks.
  10. Well that sounds like the same thing. When my calipers were being re-greased a couple of weeks ago I got the mechanic to check and he said nothing has any play at the front end. I'm driving to Austria in three weeks so I need to be sure it's safe. It'll be interesting to see what the other place comes up with on Wednesday. Like you, I'd definitely say it's not a metallic sound. I can't hear it with the door open or window down, and it wasn't there when I bought it in January, and I don't really notice it over big bumps, just on the slightly uneven areas (of which there are many in Sussex!)
  11. Does this sound familiar to anyone? When I drive over slightly uneven roads I hear what wouldn't necessarily be called a knock, but it's the only way I can describe it. It's not loud, just annoying. Its not one knock but continuous over that kind of surface. Definitely coming from front drivers side. I'm booked in somewhere on Wednesday but thought I'd ask in case others have had it. Maybe I'd say it's more of a muffled rattle. I can't feel it through the steering. Thanks
  12. Exactly my point when I had an LS430, we generally only heard the bad stories which would be well outnumbered if people posted the good news.
  13. Do you notice any difference John? On my Volvo I've got comfort, sport and normal, all settings feel identical.
  14. Having had two LS400's and two LS430's I can't honestly say air was any better. I do know that they should be changed in pairs and at £1600 for two, plus fitting I would certainly consider springs. Sensors are around £350 each. One member had springs fitted and said it took an hour per corner.
  15. As far as I'm aware that's the case. A pair of shocks for the earlier 300 can be bought for less than £150. If I've got it right, after 2008 they were electronic so much more costly. Don't know why they were changed, the basic shocks seem fine to me.
  16. No, I'm near Brighton and I was going to suggest you could come and play with my GS to see if you'd be happy with one.
  17. Hi John, You're right of course, although I didn't purchase the warranty, it came with it. They did make good their promise on the first 02 sensor, it's just a shame I was given the wrong info and replaced the wrong sensor! I did phone the warranty company when the fault code was first thrown up "Sorry, 02 sensors aren't covered"
