  1. I think we all feel that way to some extent. I was going to work the other day when a guy in a very hot BMW raced with a motorcycle. The speed limit was 50 dropping down to 30 and they must have been doing 100+ This was at a time when kids were going to school. Of course they got away with it whereas my wife who takes her mind off things for a split second gets a ticket for doing 36mph. It's taken me 59 years to discover life isn't always fair! Talking of show offs, many years ago I was on the back of a mates bike (a BSA650) leaving a camp site with all our gear tied to the back. He pulled away hard showing off to some girls and all the gear fell off, they laughed their heads off, so yes, I have witnessed show offs getting their comeuppance!
  2. Such a strange thing. I've been driving since 1972 and had so many cars, but out of all of them I dread the day when the Lexus goes more than any. Daft really, it's only a car but I know just how you feel. All the best. Phil
  3. True, but if the existing ones are poor quality the same thing will happen. ebay is great but it's unfortunately flooded with sub standard stuff. People buying cheap parts just to get cars through MOT's
  4. I would agree with the above. I had it on my LS, no problem braking below 40mph but the higher the speed the worse the wobble. It also got worse the longer I left it, to the point that it felt unusable. New front discs and pads, wobble gone. An easy job as well. Was your local tyre dealer Kwik Fit by any chance!!! Thank you. No, it wasn't Kwik Fit but I do think these tyre "specialist" repair places are best for tyres and brake pads only. I am guessing you fitted these yourself, any advice on where to buy? Front discs/pads are on offer on Ebay for mid £60 ! I did buy a set on ebay and regretted it 12 months later when they warped again. The last ones I got from a local factor with a good reputation, so far so good, and they came with a gaurantee which the ebay ones didn't.

  6. Well at least being a taxi more people will get to enjoy it!
  7. Getting it to the upper levels at Gatwick airport. Fine in a Vauxhall Corsa!
  8. Insurance is certainly post code related. My quote this year for a 93 LS is £212 fully comp with no claim protection(Saga)which I'm more than happy with. What made me laugh is the last quote on Comparethemarket.com. £1,650 without a courtesy car!!
  9. I was fortunate enough to have a friend with a tiny soldering iron and some electronics knowledge, he did mine for the cost of the parts. In the case of the lighting capacitor it was 20p!
  10. Cheap ones are fine...as long as you don't mind changing them every year! Bought some off ebay for my LS, never again (unless it was a trusted brand of course)

  13. Good news on the repair, a result I would say. Don't know about Cat C, send DVLA an enquiry, they're fairly quick and helpful these days.

  15. However, I'm in West Sussex, and there is another on this forum from West Sussex so it's not impossible..and we're all LS owners! Phil
  16. Thanks all for the info. I've only got one so I guess I don't have auto lights. So what does the solar sensor do? It just helps the AC system compensate for direct sunlight into the cabin. Interesting, Ta.

  18. I thought that after 4 years it's time to find out what this does (or not) It's on the dash in front of the steering wheel, just to the right. Any ideas? Thanks Phil
  19. Caliper slide pins I'm guessing. Loads of us LS owners have had the same issue. Takes me about 15 mins each side to re grease them and the knocking goes.
  20. Thanks Pete, I might just try this line in any case, as it does seem to be a regular problem. But I was also thinking it might be wheel bearings. Any thoughts? Having experienced the knock from caliper slide pins and thinking it was something really serious, I'd certainly check that out on the side the knock's coming from. I'm no expert but I would have thought you would know about it if the wheel bearings were worn enough to make a crack/knock. Phil
  21. It recieves the Digital signal through the arial you stick to the windscreen (Not very intrusive visualy) and then transmits to the car arial. I am very sceptical about gadgets, I think it stems from my childhood trips to the Ideal Home Exhibition and my Mum & Dad would by all thos gadgets that only ever worked for the demonstrator at the show, but this is brilliant. I spend alot of time listining to Talk Sport which is MW and is a terrible signal especialy at night but this brings it to you in crystal clearness. I have also found Jazz FM National again, a station that I could never get on the incar radio. Mike Things were going OK until you mentioned Jazz, I thought only VW Golf drivers liked it! :winky: Not so much the Jazz which I do love but for the Blues. Mike Now you're talking! have you tried 1.FM on the net and listened to their non stop blues?, fantastic and by far my favourite music.
