Had to source a backplate for my GS300 1999, could not find any, had to order from a company in Japan. It was £177.78 inc PP, the only thing was it is costing me £58 for import duties.

Its just arrived and I gave it a quick test, it does access the abs unit and you can bleed the brakes. Hurrah!!!

Hi, I have the Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 and I have just bought the Maxicheck Pro which is meant to bleed the abs brakes. When it arrives I will post the results of the test. The 802 cost £160 and the Maxicheck cost me £140, well worth it.

I have an Autel and it does read my GS300 1999 so give it a try.

Hi, same engine but i have a K&N filter and no problems!

Thats what stopped the knocking on mine! Also took the opportunity to to replace them with poly type bushes.

When you pull the washer out there is a flat spring clip you need to pull up! its there believe me. I have just taken a picture of mine its attached.My finger is pointing to it.

I have just replaced my headlights and I can say the four nuts you get to after pulling back the wheel arch mud guards are not easy to get to. I saw this video on utube but it doesnt show the washer removal, they just pull towards you then you spring the clip out, you can't miss it, very easy.

Yes the bumper needs to come off, the washer pulls forward on a spring then unclips.

Hi, I bought my ARB bushes from ebay UK, a USA site. They are Prothane bushes not the normal type, a lot cheaper then Lexus or Polybushes from the UK. Worth a look, easy to fit and save yourself some money. Search for Prothane Front Sway Bar Bushings 28.5mm Lexus GS300 1998-2004 181123. But make sure you get the correct size.

Just out of interest has anyone on here ever rebuilt a master cylinder? Surely the seals etc are not specific to just this model?

I've had a 430 sport since 2005 and follow the service schedule with a Lexus dealer, only two problems I've had with it are the electric door mirror failing on the driver's side and on the cosmetic front the driver's seat piping on the bottom of the seat splitting in two. But considering how complex the car is that's really good - for comparison, a friend of mine bought a 2004 Audi A6 V8 in 2006 and it spends more time in the garage then it does on the road. I call it the bionic car as he could have bought a new one for what he's had to spend on it! Strange I had the same problems, the auto dimming failed on the mirror also the pipping splits but it has done 170k plus.

The specs say SAE 90 from -18deg C upward. SAE 80W or 80W - 90 for -18deg C or lower. Its just temperature based so it OK.
