  1. 2008 is a MK3, MK4 came out in 2012 Main differences are two many to mention, The MK4 in my opinion was a completely different car , larger boot, better m.p.g, ride, comfort and handling, and the f sport also looked good.
  2. Make sure the boot is big enough if you're going to use it as a Taxi, ( Airport runs ) the GS 450h has a smaller boot that the GS300, the GS 450h Mk4 boot is larger than the MK3.
  3. The LC500 hybrid is a 3.5 V6, but no turbo. Rumours are that the LC-F will have a 4.2 V6 Twin Turbo, but who knows.
  4. The yellow looks really nice in the bright sunshine, it looks like its covered in gold leaf, so not a colour for this country, not enough sun
  5. It may have been a good i dear to have one and test it out for 24 hours before buying one. Personally a hard/firm ride is relative to what you expect or have come from, I went from a GS 450h which had a comfortable ride to a RC-F which was a firm ride, until I went in a M4 which was a bone shaker.
  6. To be honest i have always thought that a heated steering wheel was a bit of a gimmick, this is the first car i have ever had with it, and i must admit i quite like it, in fact when i drive my runaround car I actually miss it. I don't no which heat setting comes on low or high , I just use the concierge setting and would say the complete wheel get quite warm there may be two slightly cooler sections around the quarter two and quarter past area.
  7. No not sure at all. If you have lane keep assist and speed sign recognition then you would already have the camera fitted just underneath your rear view mirror, so you would think it would just be a matter of software and a relay to turn on and of your high beam, but then if it was that easy they wouldn't be able to charge £££ as a extra.
  8. You would also need some sort of camera/ /sensor on the front detecting oncoming cars, so i would think its a bit more complex than that
  9. its very unfortunate that you have had problems with your car, i had the alarm problem which took 3 months to sort out, touch wood its been ok so far, i also had a minor problem with the fuel cap but with a quart of WD 40 seems to have sorted that out. IMO how much you pay for something does not always mean you are not going to have problems, or in the case of a car have trouble free motoring. one train coach cost 1mill + and look at the problems they have, even Concorde and the space shuttle costing millions of even billions have had there very sad problems ,one caused by a £1 O ring, so what ever you pay, not every thing will be 100%. i hope you are very happy with your new car and i wish you happy and trouble free motoring.
  10. it started with a flap you opened manually and a cap you twisted of ( nothing could go wrong ) then came the flap you opened manually and a key needed to open the cap ( again not much to go wrong, perhaps a frozen lock or broken key ) Then my run around car has a leaver you pull by the drivers seat, this pulls a pin which releases the sprung loaded flap, if the cable stretches or brakes iam not sure how your supposed to open it. the Lexus has a button you push, which i presume electrically with the use of a solenoid pulls the pin which again releases the flap, even more to go wrong, and i think this is the problem to much gadgetry. PS Ok before anyone says yes ok it did start with a horse and cart..lol
  11. yes this has happened a couple of time to me, i fact it happened today, not sure about you but if i fill my car up with fuel, because of the low millage i have been doing lately it can take me 4/5 weeks before i need to fe fuel again, in my case i think it just gets stuck due to lack of use, the same happens to my run around car for the same reason. it was a bit embarrassing today asking another person at the pumps if they wouldn't mind opening my petrol flap while i pushed the button. i did move the flap backwards and forwards a few time and it seems to be ok now, may give it a square of WD40 at the weekend.
  12. Thats why you don't leave your wipers on Auto in the winter.
  13. The detailing shop that did my car told me that every time you touch you car with a cloth, wash fit, you will start to mark it, so regular waxing is not a good idea, and polish with its slight abrasives would be even worse. I no its not practical but if you have a good ceramic coating 1.... snow foam 2.... two bucket method. 3.... Rinse with De-ionised ( pure ) water. 4.... blow dry, or more realistically, pad dry with a drying towel.
  14. Other than some slight misting in both headlights which were changed under warranty I didn't have any issues with mine, I came from a GS 450h f sport which had AVS which gave me the option of changing the ride comfort the RC-F did not have this and I felt the ride comfort was a bit hard for me, but as David has mentioned the 2017 model has AVS,
  15. A couple of friends at work have just had the Blackvue 900S-2C..4K fitted, one is a Lexus owner the other owns a merc , its a nice bit of kit ,but expensive, they both had it supplied and fitted at Halfords, although there quoted £30 fitting fee was doubled because its a 2 Chanel system, its the one I am going for but , call me a snob but I can't bring myself to let Halfords fit it, my local Lexus have given my a number of a company they use to fit, dash cams, trackers etc,
  16. Both seta of keys are in a Faraday pouch, plus do not leave you keys near a door or window ( or in your case a cat flap )
  17. I have had the GS, RC-F and now the LC and to be honest I haven't really noticed much difference in width even though there is a difference, The GS was the first wide car I have ever owned and since then I tend to avoid width restrictions were I can. I have never had surround camera,s so can't comment on that. as for the infotainment system, its not the best, how ever i think most systems, even touch control would have the same affect of you taking your eye of the road, most if not every thing i need can be used by either voice control or buttons on the steering wheel. Also I find the concierge system works ok for me, but agree buttons for the heated and cooled seats would have been nicer and easer to use. you could possible replace the interior lighting with brighter bulbs, I notice this seems to be a thing reading posts on the US form. I have never used the Auto High beam or any car which has had it, probably because I don't do much country driving so most if not all the roads are already well lit. one thing I have noticed is that I get flashed a lot with just my normal headlights on, does anyone else get this?, I have had the headlight's hight looked at by Lexus and a independent garage, both have said they are correctly adjusted. Rattles are a right pain, though touch wood my is rattle free so far, its funny how Lexus drivers notice the slightest rattle or creak, I had a ride in my friends new BMW 5 series last week and noticed a rattle coming from the centre cancel, and his drivers seat made a clicking noise every time he went round a sharp corner, when we got to our destination i mentioned this to him and he was unaware of any noises. I don't think there are common flaws to any make of car, I just think we all want/expect/like different things.
  18. It depends on what you want done, which products they use and the condition of the cars paint work. i have mine done from new, using the best product available at the time, it cost around £700.
  19. That was my old car, it now belongs to another member on this site https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-care-blog/new-car-protection/lexus-lc-500-v8/
  20. Mine went in for its first service Tuesday and there was not any mention of a re call,
  21. I think Lack of marketing is the main reason, although they have seemed to have gone up a gear with the LC, I have seen many TV commercials and bill board posters with the LC, compared with absolutely nothing when i purchased my RC-F. I also don't think that Lexus as a company are to bothered with the UK / Europe sales they have enough problems keeping up with US demand.
  22. Are you sure this was at Lexus Sudbury? as I no the salesman on the right very well.
  23. Mine is is for its first service on the 2nd October, they didn't mention anything about a software update, although like Julian I have allready had the Sat Nav update done. as for m.p.g I have recently returned from a 320 mile trip to Great Yarmouth, it was all Motorway, duel carriage way driving with the car in eco for 90% of the journey and the cruse set to 70 with the odd blast or two, to get around slower moving lories, I achieved a very respectable 32.6 m.p.g. A different story around town 18 m.p.g were I only do very short journeys 5/6 miles The car has only done 1500 miles so this may improve in time, I have noticed with any new car I have had that m.p.g has improved as the millage exceeds 5000 miles.
  24. its the complexity of the layers of paint, it can be repaired, it just can't be a local repair, smart repair, you would have to have the hole panel done or possibly the complete side of the car depending on were the damage is.
