  1. My car 103k on the clock and has a full Lexus service history up to now, so I would of thought it has had the tranny fluid changed at least twice. Maybe my mechanic is being over cautious? ← It's not really a filter, just a mesh screen. I would say it's worth doing a drain and again at the next service as a drain only changes about 1/3 of the total fluid in the transmission. Also worth dropping the pan and cleaning/changing the filter as the vehicle has done 100k.
  2. I hope the buildings were designed with earthquakes in mind.
  3. The standard coolant is fine. It is recommended to only use the pre-mixed Toyota coolant.
  4. Well, I downgraded to the 2MB service a few months ago .... because it wasn't worth the extra 1mb for £15. Knowing that the lines were going to be upgraded to 10MB I have been waiting for it ........ so really I need to change my service to the 3MB, before getting the 10MB option ← Will you not go up to 4Mb anyway? The rollouts are done region by region and are probably based on other internal network upgrade work so it may be a month before everybody is upgraded. Not that there really is a need to 10Mbps unless you are using the ISPs internal servers etc. Finding a server out on the net that will give you that much bandwidth would be difficult.
  5. Yes, the engine has nothing to do with the different trim levels.
  6. The problem with the new IS250 is it really is a replacement for the IS300 and in that way isn't too badly priced. The difference between the IS200 and IS300 cost was always much too much however and existing IS200 owners will find it hard to justify the extra money.
  7. I think you also get it in drive if your going slow enough - to enable reverse to be selected. Daniel. ← No it shouldn't do that. You can select reverse at any speed, ECU should select it though
  8. or look in the knowledgebase http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ge=index_v1&c=1
  9. THD % isn't really any sort of measure of good sound quality. I would like to think the ML sounds much better than a BOSE system!
  10. was that a touch derogatory then ← no, just a non-gold member trying to sell stuff. If you want an AFC 2 then look on ebay, there were loads on their a week or two ago.
  11. Do you really think so Colin? How would I prove I didn't run over something? ← Difficult I guess however they may want to show good will, they may even want the old tyre back to help them with R&D.
  12. Do they make more money out of just selling tyres?
  13. I don't think it does. If it isn't continual they will want to give the vehicle a once over to make sure there are no faults before the warranty starts.
  14. Yes you can add 1 year unlimited warranties, I think up to 7 years old. It's basically the same warranty you get with a used Lexus certified vehicle.
  15. Glad your okay Zee. I would speak to Toyo - you may be able to get a replacement unless you ran over something that caused the damage.
  16. Do you mean series II? 3 year, 60,000 miles main warranty 3 year unlimited warranty - paintwork 12 year unlimited warranty - corrosion perforation tyres - tyre manufactures warranty
  17. Lexus labour rates are around £100 per hour so their price is correct if you say it will take an hour.
  18. 10000 or every 12 months, which ever occurs first.
  19. An IS300 auto does 0-60mph in 8.2seconds and a UK Supra TT auto in 5.4seconds. Get a manual one and 0-60 in 4.9seconds. UK spec is 326bhp. Very difficult to get a UK spec one these days, very very difficult to get a manual one.
  20. 240bhp only with 1994 onwards models. Go for a GT rather than a GT-S if you can.
  21. Idle should be around 650-750 on the 300 with the AC off and around 800 with it on. Idling at 1400rpm may just be because it's started to get colder overnight but it sounds like they disconnected the battery which will reset the engine ECU. Give it a couple of days and the idle should sort itself out and a tank or 2 of fuel should have the mpg back to normal as well. Idle in drive should be around 500
