  1. Yes adjust the TPS correctly and clean the throttle body + idle control valve.
  2. You do not state what year your vehicle is. MKIV 1998 onwards use the CBEST system to set preferences which your dealer can set otherwise as others have said there should be a switch to disable it.
  3. could just be the belt but I would get your dealer to take a look as you are still within warranty.
  4. O2 sensors can be more than £55 if they are 4 wire types and the A/F ratio sensors that are using on the RX300 instead of O2 sensors are 2 or 3 times the cost so be careful when removing them. I believe some carb cleaners can damage plastics etc. so throttle position sensors etc. could be damaged if you are not careful.
  5. If the button that turns on the rear window demister has a picture of a mirror on it then the mirror heaters are turned on and off with that switch. If the switch only has the rear window heater symbol then the mirrors are on all the time.
  6. The Toyota Camry/Lexus ES300 and RX300 are the same chassis and running gear so yes they probably would fit.
  7. should also give Toyota a bit of an advantage.
  8. Hi Can someone confirm that the toyota nav DVDs will work in a Lexus (i.e. SC430)? My dealer says no, but here I've read that it is possible... Thanks for your advice. cheers ← The Toyota and Lexus discs are the same. That is why they stopped printing the Lexus logo on the discs so they only have to produce one type. Your dealer isn't going to admit that though. However there are different types of Nav unit which use different types of discs. As you can see in the part numbers above they are very close (only 2 numbers out which means there have been two updates). If the part number are very different e.g. 86271-70v311a and 86271-83v432 then the disc will not work. Also remember there are 3 part numbers (two on the disc and one on the case) so make sure you compare the correct ones together.
  9. installation shouldn't be too difficult but you still need to get it setup on a rolling road.
  10. head unit isn't the same is it? The S model has an in-built amp so the wiring is different. You don't want to be connecting the speaker outputs into the input of the amp!
  11. fault could also be faulty knock sensors. Also what plugs are you using, the recommended ones?
  12. Lexus do not loan DVD nav discs. The disc is available from any Lexus dealer, although they will probably have to order it (may take up to a week). It does cover the countries you mention. Cannot be 100% that a Euro disc will work in a US vehicle and I doubt anybody will be able to confirm that either. You may have to go to a dealer first and try one from one of their vehicles.
  13. I've heard that carbon build up in the heads can cause this and it's not uncommon on very old LS400s.
  14. I'm not really sure why you would expect to get another 1 year extension to the warranty because the unit was repaired/replaced. If that happened nothing would ever go out of warranty as people would introduce 'faults' just before the warranty was due to expire. The 'new' head unit that was installed was probably a repair and therefore wouldn't itself carry a 1 year warranty.
  15. The ECU reset was in reference to manual vs auto mode with e-shift. As the auto box changes it's shift pattern based on the driver, resetting the ECU can make it re-learn
  16. It's a common problem with all new vehicles that use water based paints. If the reason they use water based paints is for environmental issues then it doesn't really work because the car ends up getting re-sprayed within a few years and normally with oil based paints.
  17. Don't use it then. The car can drive quite differently with power mode on or off.
  18. mpg shouldn't really change. Some people even see an increase as they don't have to use as much 'gas' to make it down change etc. It doesn't alter the throttle response, unlike snow mode which does reduce the response, but it is thought it does reduce the sensitivity of the traction contol a little.
  19. possible it is the accessory belt a little loose although that normally shows up on cold mornings not going around corners. If you think it's the power steering pump you should be able to make it do it if you perform some tight turns - maybe find an empty car park somewhere.
  20. Other than using greese you could have worn retaining pins otherwise you may need a new caliper. The other possibility is that all the shims etc. were not put back when you had your brakes replaced.
  21. That wasn't meant as a put down. On my old GS300 I didn't really have problem with wheelspin pulling away from junctions but the low down torque of the V8 really highlights tyres which have a lack of grip if you give it anything more than 1/4 throttle.
