  1. Looks like Apple has sold out - the apple store is now showing 7 days to ship rather than the normal 24 hours.
  2. The 14.7:1 ratio is the best mixture for the cats to work, however you need to be in closed loop mode for that to work. At other times the ECU is using it's pre programmed mappings to do the fuel mixture. If you make the air intake a little less restrictive then you lean out the mixture slightly which is one of the reasons you see an increase in mpg. This isn't too much of a problem with Toyota engines as the are normally set up to run a little rich anyway. However when you start altering the intake and exhaust it is a good idea to get the car on a rolling road to see how the fueling is. There could be a point in the rev range where the engine is actually a bit lean which is not a good thing.
  3. Aido, I too like Camino but since upgrading to 10.4.2 my Safari seems to be much better so I've been using that most of the time. Where did you get your mouse from, the Apple store?
  4. I was thinking of ordering one but read some reviews that didn't seem too great. The scroll wheel looks a good idea, I presently use a standard Microsoft scroll wheel, the standard Mac mouse never even made it out of the box - so much quicker to use a Mac or a PC with two buttons rather than one. I've only just moved over the Mac and I must admit the latest version of OSX is very impressive. Just a shame you have to use two or three different browsers to be able to view all web sites - and some things just only work in IE so I then have to use Virtual PC as IE is not longer developed for the Mac.
  5. Without knowing the error code being produced we can only guess, looks like you may have to make the journey.
  6. The Amazon is a Lexus LX so you haven't really left us. Let us know how it compares.
  7. change the transmission fluid first and make sure you use the recommended type. Did you check the fluid level after a 15 minute drive, after moving the gear selector slowly through all the gears and whilst the engine will still idling?
  8. Did it happen after you had recently filled up with fuel? You need to make sure the fuel cap is tight, tighten it so it clicks two or more times.
  9. Yes that is an accurate summary. Your point about fuel cut on petrol cars not being good for cats isn't accurate though. If you have fuel cut then there isn't any unburnt fuel because it's been cut. Traction control that cuts the spark is not good because then you do get unburnt fuel on the cat which ignites and overheats the cat. Fuel cut is used on manual and autos. It probably happens more on a manual than an auto because when an auto is coasting the revs are normally lower and get to the point where fuel-cut is stopped quicker. I can notice when fuel cut occurs on my car and you can also see it on the fuel computer. If I come off the throttle at say 50 mph my mpg reading will go to 99.9mpg. Once the vehicle gets to around 30mph the engine speed gets to around 1000-1200 rpm and I can feel a very slight pick up. The fuel computer will then drop down to a normal reading (about 80mpg). If I then drop the gearbox down to 4th or 3rd the engine speed will increase to 1500-2000rpm, fuel cut comes on and the mpg reading goes back up to 99.9.
  10. It depends on the age of the vehicle. Early RX300 Mark I (1998-2000) had the viscous centre diff and an optional rear torsen diff. When this model was face lifted in 2001 the rear diff is no longer available because the vehicle is fitted with VSC which controls wheel spin however the centre viscous diff remained. The current model (Mark II) no longer has the viscous centre diff.
  11. Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the transmission learnt setting and it will also reset the engine ECU. Worth cleaning your MAF sensor and if there is still a problem then clean the throttle body.
  12. probably best to post your question on the US forums. Many more GS owners in the US and they are more into modding than UK GS owners.
  13. Has this just started to happen?
  14. Servicing costs will not be that much higher than the IS200 compared to the difference in costs of the two vehicles, maybe £50 - £80 more per service. Fuel costs will be a lot more, don't expect to get more than 23mpg with mixed driving. £30k will only get you one of the early models, they have since gone through two suspension revisions to try and make the ride better and removed the run flats. You really need to test drive one. Get a 24 hour test drive. Personally I don't rate the car, the chassis is based on the GS which itself it's the best but remove the roof and the ride and handling suffer.
  15. It's just the badge ! :D ← The IS300 will always return better MPG over a long run than the IS200 since the Power : Weight ratio is higher - means less fuel to move more metal. However around town the IS300 is much worse, I'm luck to get 18 MPG with all the stop/start/stop/start ← The IS300 will not return better MPG over an IS200. People has got high 30 mpg from a 200 on a run. You won't get than with a 300.
  16. mpg will increase and acceleration decrease if the wheel+tyre weight increases (as it normally would do with larger wheels). Normally the bigger the wheel the wider it is too which also increases the weight and increases rolling resistance. People put in larger wheels for looks rather than performance. If you want total performance then you could use some 13" magnesium formula one wheels. :)
  17. The Supra calipers are very big so I'm not sure if your stock wheels would fit, they also can be quite expensive to purchase.
  18. There is a problem with early models with the remote ECU losing its programming. What age is your vehicle?
  19. what performance problems do you have with the stock brakes?
  20. you cannot just replace the switches. Auto switches have extra wires to tell the ECU to go fully down/up. The ECU detects when the window is open or closed and also detects if something it in the way and stops the motor.
  21. the new GS is meant to be good so I guess it's about the same as the S-Class. LS is the class leader
