  1. once the fault is cleared the light will go out after three starts of the engine, no need to reset the ECU.
  2. The price is set by Lexus GB rather than the dealer. It's quite expensive.
  3. I'm refering to a GS. As long as your earth connectors are well secured it won't make any noticeable difference. I fitted one to mine. The only reason people seem to feel a difference is because they disconnect the battery when installing which resets the ECU and make the car feel different.
  4. You need to be very careful, you could end up spending that amount of money again just fixing problems - pay close attention to suspension components.
  5. Yes that's correct. The old style is CD slot at the bottom and has an extended warraty. Newer style has CD slot at the top.
  6. Denso where once Toyota and they still own around 20% of the company. Denso IK range of performance plugs are probably the best you can get. HKS and TRD rebadge them.
  7. The Lexus used warranty should be very close to the original 3 year manufactures warranty.
  8. Do you have a full printout of your geometry results? If so post them up and somebody will be able to help. There should be no issues with stability on the IS200. There is something wrong with your vehicle.
  9. Did it do it before you changed the gearbox oil?
  10. I don't believe there is an easy way. Unplugging the O2 sensor will probably make the ECU just go into limp mode.
  11. 5 year warranty is only on the old style head units fitted on 1998-2000 models because they have a design fault and high failure rate. New head units are just covered by the cars three year warranty. These unit tend to be reliable.
  12. sounds like you need to get your wheel alignment checked and some new tyres. as for the belt you can try cleaning it and the pulleys, sometimes dirt can make the noise worse however it sounds like it you may need a new belt.
  13. what operating system are you using? Increasing the swap file probably won't help and may make things worse.
  14. closed loop is when the ECU uses the results from the oxygen sensors in the exhaust to modify the air/fuel ratio to maintain the desired 14.7:1 ratio requried for the cats to work correctly. open loop is when the oxygen sensors aren't used and the air/fuel ratio is based purely on input sensors (air temp, throttle position, air flow, engine temp etc.) and a preprogrammed map held within the ECU. As there is nothing checking the output the ECU has no way of knowing if the fuelling is actually correct. open loop is used when the 14.7:1 ratio is not required. For example when the engine is cold or when it is hard accelerating, both of these require a richer mixture.
  15. FSB speed won't matter unless you have a 100Mbps Internet connection. The speed of normal broadband shouldn't trouble any Pentium based PC. However your operating system needs a resonable amount of RAM to function correctly. You wouldn't want to run Windows 2000 or XP on only 64MB of RAM. Windows 98 is ok on 64MB.
  16. If you are going to change the plugs then with your mods it might be wise to go with IK22s
  17. the only problem with high mileage RX300 is the gearbox. Make sure you change the transmission fluid only using Toyota T-IV fluid.
  18. Bracknell tyre and battery normally give good prices although won't beat the Gold offer above.
  19. just a shame the rest of the 1.8T engine is so unreliable!
  20. They are not worth it. Won't make any difference.
  21. Have you put back the standard intake? Did it improve things? If so I wouldn't mess around just sell it, unless you want to put it on a rolling road and get the fueling checked/corrected.
  22. Should have got this ;) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BIGFOOT-LEXUS-TOYOTA...1QQcmdZViewItem
  23. If you have a V2 Sky+ box then upgrading is very easy. I've had mine with a 200GB drive in it now for quite some time. I wired the fan up to 5v. Spins slowly so you don't hear it but still keeps the unit nice and cool.
  24. VVTL-i is more advanced than V-TEC However you have to remember that Honda use lightweight, virtually hand build, engines. Toyota over engineer and then mass produce - the benefit to us is the engines can withstand a large amount of increased power and are very reliable :)
