  1. I remember once proudly telling someone that my my old Datsun 280ZX had passed its MOT with flying colours to a police officer. His reply was, "son, there are no flying colours. You either get a pass or a fail. Thats all there is to it". miserable small piece of grass.
  2. I did my last one myself. Its not hard apart from cracking off the pulley nut. I haven't got around to this one yet. Its sitting in the boot waiting along with a fan belt
  3. Keith. Can't help you with the sticker but who was the member who you got your 10" rears from?
  4. My Lex has been feeling a bit left out in this hot weather with me opting to use the MX5 topless at every opportunity. I think I will give it a treat this weekend and finally change the timing belt and fan belt and change the fuel Filter. Its already had Plugs and the HT leads and Dizzy cap and rotor cleaned up. Changing the belts is the easy bit. The hard part is the fuel filter. Its probably dead easy to swap but I had a quick look around and couldn't find it so thats the reason for the post. Where is the Fuel Filter on a MK1 GS? Oh, and has anyone got a 10X18 rear for sale?
  5. For some obscure reason unbeknown to myself, I decided to have a little nose about the engine bay today. I took out the plugs just to check them and noticed they where fairly new. However, I also noticed that they weren't platinum tipped. Doh. This discovery along with an absolutely filthy Throttle body had me reaching for the carb Cleaner and my wallet. I duly went out and bought the correct plugs and polished the inside of the throttle body and as much of the intake manifold as possible. It all went back together nice and easy. Whilst all this was going on, I had the battery disconnected to reset the ECU. I connected it up and took the car for a good hard thrashing. {after it came up to temp} The amount of smoke coming out of the rear was a bit scary at first and it idled and ran like a pig for a good 5 or so miles before it cleared itself and became alot more responsive right throughout the rev range. Before I started this, the car started no problem and drove OK as far as I was concerned. Now its a completely diferent Kettle of porridge. Its hard to believe its the same car. My next step is to remake the poor Adapter for the K&N type cone filter that came with the car and refit it. I only removed it because it didn't seem to make any difference at all to performance. Now I will re site it in a good airflow position and see what happens. Anyway. I know the plugs are a pain to get to but its worth checking just for piece of mind. The plattys aren't cheap at about a fiver each so I guess quite a few lexxies without history won't have them. It would be a crime not to clean that throttle body while the plugs are out. This feels like being 21 again but without fitting Musical horns and go faster stripes to a Capri :P
  6. Tell them the car is very fast and they mustn't be allergic to sheet. Ask if they are ok to eat sheet cos thats what will happen when they drive over 30 MPH with the sunroof open
  7. I have just fitted Eibachs on my MK1 and I can't really notice any difference in ride quality. This is with having 18" and 35 series tyres. Can't help you with the other questions
  8. Does it not just require re-gassing? I think the motor has a built in cut off when it detects no or low pressure in the system.
  9. I got them from a Twin Turbo GS that is breaking on Ebay. The car was pretty much complete apart from the Engine which has sold. Its absolutely minging inside though. He said rats had been living in it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Not sure yet how easy they are to fit but I have all the loom and switchgear to go with them.
  10. Oil companys spend thousands of pounds developing engine oils for use in your car. Along comes a magic ingredient that improves this already excellent oil. If its so good then how come none of the major oil suppliers advertise their oil with it already included? It would save you money surely. My views on additives are simple. Buy the best oil you can afford and fit it along with a New filter. Change it or top it up with the same whenever its needed. Why upset the brew?
  11. I have just souced a pair of these for my car but I need to know where the switch is fitted for them. Can anyone help?
  12. Go for it mate. Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. If it runs and misfires then take a chance. use it as a bargaining tool to drive the price down. My first Lex came with nothing but a set of keys. After searching, I turned up full service history and owner history. All 3 of them
  13. The most fun car I have ever owned was a TR7 but it was a V8 version. It only went last October and i really miss it. It got replaced with an MX5. No comparison.
  14. I had a similiar problem with my Supra many years ago and it was nothing more than dirty HT leads. Try giving them a good clean before you spend money and wipe out the inside of the dizzy cap as well.
  15. It would be interesting to see if the service book is filled in with exactly the same colour pen as well. On a slightly different subject, the is a 97 Sport in the Trader with history, 10X18 rears, HPI clear and an LPG conversion for £3795.... and thats in Liverpool as well.
  16. You appear to have omitted the neccessary use of foul language in your description. :P :P
  17. I have put a pair of pics in the GS gallery of before and after the rendevous with Dr Eibach. In all honesty, i can feel very little difference in ride quality. I don't know if its me but im thinking the ride is softer. They are American spec springs mind you.
  18. I believe there was recall for ball joints on the MK1 GS but could be mistaken.
