  1. Im sorted. 2 previous owners, part history, a pair of 10X18 rears with as new tyres plus 4 original Standard 18 sport wheels and the original alloys with tyres thrown in as well. I drove it back today and had forgotten just how good they are. First thing I need for it is to lower the suspension so does anyone have any springs for sale or point me in the right direction?
  2. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Im viewing one this morning so I will let you know how it goes. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  3. That clicky noise if you have one wheel jacked up may just be because it has a LSD fitted... I think. Im sure someone will be along soon. I noticed the one on Ebay. If it was the same one, i think it was from a Vertex TT but may be mistaken. It was at 99 pence with no bids when I last looked and it didn't have long to go.
  4. In all the time I have been on various Toyota forums, i don't recall anyone looking for a diff unit due to failure. However there is a MK 1 GS very near to me that has had a failure. It has got the large rear sport wheels so maybe that has something to do with it. I thought the drive train was pretty much bomb proof unless someone can tell me different.
  5. Good to see some of the old names still here. Im currently hankering after another lex. its been 18 months now and it doesn't get any easier. Going to hunt down a MK1 GS sport or a Vertex. .
  6. Thats the colour I always fancied. Might look into re aquainting with a Lex in the new year.
  7. What do they tighten them crank pulley nuts up with. Out of every Timing I have swapped over the years, the two that gave the most headaches were cracking the crank nut off on my Supra and Lex.
  8. Sticky brake piston. Check the front pads are wearing evenly. I had my tracking done, wheels balanced, bearings adjusted, tyres swapped around, balanced again and it was the caliper all along.
  9. I changed my Timing belt. Nothing special about it. The hardest part was cracking the crank shaft nut loose. It was a lot easier to do than my 300ZX was.
  10. If you get the number of the bearing from its rim, a bearing supplier will be able to cross ref it with another item. Save yourself pounds.
  11. .....or. visit the dealer and see if you can speak to one of the service engineers. Maybe he or she could give you some advice on when they can fit you in to their out of hours servicing. I think you will understand what I mean. Your car still gets serviced by a Lexus technician but with out all the bling bling.
  12. Try disconnecting the battery for a while and flushing the toilet no more than 3 times in a 45 minute period. ;) Well, the battery part may do the trick.
  13. I had a squeaky front end. It wasn't the brakes, Wheel bearings or Wheels. It was this. http://www.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/Misc/Dcp_2808 I imagine you would be able to get a replacement poly bush for this instead of replacing the whole arm which im sure would be expensive. I was lucky. I found a late MK1 breaking for spares. Word of warning. You have to lower the front subframe to replace it. Good luck. :D
  14. I bought a Cat C Lexus. Its still the best car I have ever owned. There are a couple of ways of looking at your purchase. You could have bought the same car for top wack and then found out it was on the HPI register. The seller isn't legally bound to tell you. At least you know that something has happened to it. As for the reg doc, nothing is printed on it at all. The only way you find out is if the owner tells you or you run an HPI check. Personally, I don't really care if my cars are on the register. The only thing that worries me is if they have finance on them and may get snatched from me. I would go for it if the price is right but then im mad. I replaced the Lexus with a 300ZX from Ebay which ran like a bag of spanners and had no history and 6 owners within 18 months. Not as good as the Lexter but goes like a scalded Earwig now its sorted.
  15. Just noticed that you have a MK2 Rodders. I dunno if the front suspension is the same.
  16. I had mine recharged at a refrigerated trailer depot. The guy did it in his lunch hour and charged me £25. Easy money. As for the spray, I have just used a wynns product called aircool. It got rid of the nasty smell for about 2 days and then it returned. I have heard of something called an air bomb (?). Can anyone shed any light?
  17. Rodders. I managed to get hold of a pair of used arms from a late model that had been a total loss. I was lucky really. I paid £20 for the pair. I would imagine you can buy an aftermarket poly bush kit for them. I had a similar problem recently with my 300ZX. The tie rod bushes where destroyed by oil and Nissan wanted an arm and a leg complete with shirt sleeves and cufflinks. I managed to source a pair of superflex bushes which are a better quality but cheaper than the dealer. A word of warning. The arms are a pain to fit. You have to lower the front crossmember to get them out. Once that is dropped, its relatively straight foward. I also found that the slight pull to one side I had disappeared when I changed the bushes. Good luck.
  18. I don't know if this is any help. It one of the front suspension arms. http://www.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/Misc/Dcp_2808 When fitted to the car, everything was fine. The tell tale signs were nothing more than the odd clunk or groan from being on full lock or a lound intermittent bang from going over a pothole. This was the only failure I had during the cars ownership.
  19. Why not put it on Ebay with a sensible..ish reserve. Im sure a few guys on here would add a bid to push you in the right direction. My GS sport lookalike cost 3k in july 2002. Ok , it was damaged repaired stolen recovered with no history or documents but i still had no problem selling it in October 2003 for £3600 even though the muppet only had 48 hours before writing it off. They are still fetching ok money up here in Liverpool cos im gonna grab another soon. Next time it will be a real sport in pearl white over silver. phwoooar
  20. Its true about the aircon. It needs to be used quite often to keep it in tip top condition. I guess it only needs a quick regas which if it lasts another ten years should be fine. I bet your wheel wobble is nothing more than a sticky brake caliper. Put your hand on each front wheel after a good long blast and see if one is hotter than the other. I would be very surprised if it was a warped disc because they are huge and it would take some heat to distort them. You gotta realise that you will find some niggles and because its so quiet to drive, every noise you here will feel alien. Enjoy what is probably one of the most underated drives this side of a ........ you decide. :P
  21. You are right. It is a Z32 without the Turbos. Its my fifth Z car but first Z32. It follows a pair of 280ZXs and a pair of Z31s. I tried to work out how many Japanese cars I have owned and have lost count. The best one has to be the complete impulse buy which was the Lexus although my Supra comes in a close second. B) B)
  22. Well done on getting a great car. I too have a Nissan 300ZX but with 3 pedals instead of 2 and a distinct lack of a pair of windy millers. I bought this to replace my Lex and there is no comparision so I too will be rejoining the Lex fold sooner rather than Later. This time though it will have to be a real MK1 sport in the unloved white colour.
