  1. Has nobody told you, very lax of them on here. Its £50 each payable to me in advance, can be reduced to £25 each if a bribe of cupcakes is involved, and maybe some bacon butties. In all seriousness though, Just bring your good selves and the car, thats it. Turn up and have fun, chat with the other attendees. No need to pay for parking or any kind of subscription. Only thing you pay for is what you get from the pub. Looking forward to it myself, again as normal
  2. You will always find good and bad traders on Ebay, some really good and some really bad. This guy does not look like a good trader at all, but thats personal opinion after seeing some of his auctios and what fellow forum dudes have found out. I have not purchased a car from Ebay, i have bought and sold several motorbikes without issues, but then again i beleive in being honest in any Ebay auction. I would buy a car from Ebay, but you have to follow your nose and instincts, go and view the car prior to bidding if you can, does it look right, is the paperwork right, ask the seller to do a vehicle check if it has not got one, they should have no argument not to apart from cost, get advice from forums relating to the make of car. And if you win an auction and it turns out not to be as described, you do not have to follow through with the transaction.
  3. I think this issue of the 400 being more reliable or less prone to problems is not a real issue. Think about it, we are all in a forum dedicated to the Ls range, other sections of the main forum are dedicated to their particular range, Is, Sc etc. I think most of the posts started are related to issues that the owner has found with their car, Ls, Is, Sc whatever, that is the nature of a forum, people have a problem, they ask about it because it may have happened to others, or like our forum we have people who are savvy with the lexus brand and know where to find info. You will always get some issues with any model, the Is has some common issues, does that make it a car to steer clear of, no it doesn't, the same for the 430, or SC. The Mercedes forum is no different, although i do believe thenewer Mercs are not as well built now as they were. Now scale it up to for example, the Ford forum, look at how many posts they have relating to issues with their cars, does that make ford cars not worthy of purchasing. Now marry the 2 forum results together, and i bet that the Lexus range has less issues than the ford range, even when you factor in the amount af cars sold to issues. Personally i have had a 400 and 430, they both have had minor niggles, but i prefer the 430, not for the extra toys, but all round a better car.
  4. Same question as Malc, is that a Lexus fob, not seen one like that before.
  5. I'm up for a few eggs if they still available, can't beat a duck egg for a egg n bacon butty. Starts the day off a treat, better than that healthy crap cereal.
  6. Being from a motorcycling background and needing to keep leathers in good nick. I have always been a fan of this stuff, just make sure to buff up after a short time to clear the excess. A good tip for application is to get clean sponge or one of them sponges you use to wash the pots, the ones with the green scourer, work it well in. http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/820720/Clothing-and-Helmets/Garment-Care/Chelsea/Leather-Food You can get it cheaper from other sources if you shop about. Works great on work boots, sports boots, any kind of leather really.
  7. WD40 is a good cure all for many sticky buttons, nuts, bolts etc. If that works, what i would do (have done it on my car locks) is get some spray silicon lubricant and give a quick shot into the lock. Keeps them all tickety boo.
  8. Now that is proper truckers language, it does get worse when you ***** them off, usually by an idiot that cuts in front with inches to spare. That video would make a good sequal
  9. I think you are supposed to rotate the fitments of wheels on a car when new tyres are used. I read somewhere that it's recommended to reduce tyre noise as well. So changing the wheels around won't do any harm, just check for a rotation arrow on the tyre to double check.
  10. My Ls430 came with a tracker fitted, I had to transfer the details to mine obviously and activate the account in my name. The fees for a 4 year cover was £299 so it is tracker covered until 2016 for now. You do get a small amount of extra discount when you insure the vehicle, but this does not outweigh the tracker fee. In hindsight I won't renew the subscription when it runs out. The odds of my car being stolen to order are maybe not that great as it's an 03, I would have thought if it was going to happen then it would have by now. I will just stick to having my dashcam and common sense on where I park and the security of the location.
  11. Srry for the delay everyone in replying. A very big thanks to the replies, humbling it is to be unemployed after yrs of graft I admit, but this thing happens to many peeps daily, even on here you fellow members have experienced it and got through it will I. I decided at the last minute to treat me and the dark lady to a little break. We took off to the Lakes to let our hair down (i borrowed a wig from a local shop) and just relax. Going to sign with an agency tomorrow and do some job hunting so lets see how it goes. I can stay out of work for a while if I like but I'm getting fidgety already. Ants in the pants syndrome. Right, I'm off to the pub for a sunday lunch beer, not done this nor really had the chance for over 10yrs with my lifelong mate, and I cannot wait.
  12. Nah i don't touch electrickery if i can avoid it, basic stuff i will do, nothing big like 240v and up, silent killer that stuff is.
  13. That's what I love about this motoring club, I have belonged to about 6 in my driving life and this club knocks all of them into a cocked hat (what ever one of those is) when it comes to offers of help. Well done again LOC. Mike Knocked into a cocked hat is the proper terminology. Literally means to beat severely. A cocked hat is usually a hat with brims joined to make 2 points or even 3 points, bicorn and tricorn
  14. Well let the sadness begin, got told today that my job (+ 1 more) is being made redundant. They have said that I can take the final 4 weeks off with pay (less overtime and bonus) to allow me to search for new employment, bastuds could have told me before I started my shift. Think I will rest up for a week though and do nothing to fully recharge my batteries. 2am to 4am starts do take their toll on you. Sulking I don't do, but I do feel the urge to do something, like maybe have a few extra beers tonite while watching the tv. Guess I may have to sign with a local agency for the time being, lets hope I get lucky eh.....
  15. Can't go wrong with a good quality torque wrench in the tool kit, as long as it's used properly that is. And well done for shearing a wheel nut bolt, takes some effort that does, a few ways to remove big bolts like that though.
  16. I think calling clarkson a retard is very much insulting, to real retards, he is far worse than a retard and also a completely ignorant. And anyway, who makes the dead badger, wouldn't mind a go in one of them, or even owning one.
  17. I can verify this, my Ls430 53 plate fogs front and rear only work with the main lights on, just tested it. As for a fuse, i would guess it is in the rear fuse box, in the boot near side under the carpet, not checked this as yet, going for a looksee now. Ok just had a look, no fuse in the boot fuse box, got cold so came indoors, i would have checked the other fuse boxes around the car but i can't get the car indoors where it's warm. Just drive the car into the house where you can check in a nice warm environment, other owners apparently do :) lexus in house.jpg Valet parking at it's very best. Dunno why they are protecting those alloys with the wood blocks, they have to be the ugliest alloys on any car, Lexus should be ashamed they used them on a nice car like the SC. They're creating a gap between the strap and the body panel, not protecting the alloys. Thats ok then, still ugly wheels, although they look better with the wood finish on them
  18. Welcome back to the family lexus, nice to see you made it through when times were bad and came bouncing back, takes a lot of hard work and dedication to do that, especially in todays climate of high prices and slip shod attitudes. And where are the photos of the car, you know we like photos, if you didn't know, then we do so do some and we can do a view of the done photo things, damn i'm tired, does it show...
  19. I've added you to the list Jami, I only started organizing meets last year, we had a couple at plank and leggit, one at Heritage motor museum. With help from other people, Will try to organize some other locations as well during the summer, There's one in the pipeline for an over-nighter with barbecue ect. Just a thought at this ungodly hour on a sunday morning, would be an idea to start a plan for the afore-mentioned over night barby, tentage lexus chat get together thing in the summer, before we know it the time will be upon us. Kind of location etc, type of venue.
