Can't seem to find out the number and Lexus parts is closed. Those little plastic clips that hold the plastic trim panels in the engine bay (Not the ones on the air intake trim as they are too long). 2 sorts I have identified, longer ones on the air intake and the shorter ones on the side trims. Any ideas ?

Sorry folks, car had an issue with no power, have spent some time sorting it, didn't find the issue in the end but she seems to be working at the moment. Check my let me down thread in the LS430 section. Hope you had fun, seems the weather looked quite nice as well

Let Me Down

Ok update, all fixed and she works normally again. Now the bad bit, the cause........Don't bloody know what it was. What I did was to seperately remove each fuse from the multiple fuse boxes in the engine bay and test them on my multimeter, each was in good working order, so i replaced them. This took quite some time as you can imagine. Whilst scratching my head thinking that avenue of hunting was closed I put the key in the ignition and lo and behold the steering wheel moved to greet me, so I thought try the ignition, and she roared into life. Switched off, let stand for 10 mins and tried again, started first time, went for a short test drive, nothing appears to be in error, drives ok, stops and starts ok. Conclusion is it must have been a loose fuse or debris causing an iffy contact. -

If it was a dodgy battery connection then the windows would not work, and they work quite normally. Immobiliser, if that was faulty would i still be able to turn on the ignition even though i get no dash lights or engine crank. too many bloody fuseboxes, going to check the others in the morning, bit tired now. -

Already thought this and tried it. The gear shifter seems ok, over rode it to get it off P so we could move the car from the drive then back to the garage after we moved our other car it was blocking. Put the car back into P and you could not move the car apart from rocking it where it stood. With the car in D i tried to remove the key, it would not let me, when the car was put in P it let me, so it must know it is in park mode to release the key. Going over the fuses this afternoon just in case one has blown. -
Well the big girl has let me down. Last evening we were going to meet some friends for dinner, the car would not start, nothing, no power no clicking, dead as the proverbial. To make matters worse the car was on the drive blocking our other car so had to try to get the car moved so we could get our other car out, managed it after 20 minutes and neighbours help. This morning still nothing after sticking the battery charger on all night, battery was new 2 months ago anyway. Tried leads to jump start and the same result, nothing. Battery has power, keyfob battery is ok as opened the doors, and releases the boot, even opens and closes all the windows as it should when kept pressed for 5 seconds. Any ideas folks ?

Falken Tyres

Have used snowsocks on our fiat punto in 6inches of snow with ice, bad winter 2010 think it was, they did very well, only car that made it to the end of our close, others had to park on the main road and walk, now have a set in the fiat and a set ready for the ls430 next week when the snow hits. I have also used those falkens bluesman linked to on my old ls400, was impressed with them. -

Levinson stereo is very good indeed, better than a mate of mines home stereo he paid over a grand for, he wants to try to get one for his home he likes it that much. Bullet proof cars, total rubbish, why do we say it, it is completely daft, you fire a gun at a car it will make holes and possibly do some serious damage. Unless it has been made bullet proof at ridiculous cost. These cars have a good longevity only if they are treated correctly, like most luxury cars, routinely serviced properly, you treat a car badly it will let you down. Many of the owners here have had their cars some time, and i believe most keep on top of the servicing, cleaning and routine maintenance, thats why they stay in good condition and the owners swear by them. You find a rogue one that hasn't been as well looked after and you will find these kinds of issues like the one you looked at in this post. -

Me personally have had no issues with this trader, not purchased from him so i won't go down any nastiness towards him or his trades. This car i would personally walk away for these reasons. Cam belt change, where is the sticker that lexus place on the car when they do it. He mentions bluetooth prep, this car does not have that as standard, so where is it and what is it. Looking into the engine bay, most of the bolts holding the plastic covers in place are missing, why? no need to take all the covers off unless issues have been found in the entire engine bay. The trim around the gear selector is not the normal trim as far as i'm aware, think it should be the samm wood style as whats next to it. Fornt offside light washer parts missing, these bits are not cheap, did check this as a few meets ago an ls430 same as mine had an issue with his washer coming off in operation. The image looking across the dashboard from passenger side to driver side, you can see the rev counter, it has the master warning light on, red triangle, why ? It isn't on in the other instrument image. Both headlights have heavy yellowing cloudiness at the top of them. Can't be sure from the image but the rear number plate looks to have rust marks just above it on the boot lid, plus that nasty scratch on the boot. As for the drive, who knows. -
Repair Issues

These warrenty wise type offers are a bag of rubbish, top money for poor service, they just rip you off and give you the feeling you are safe in their hands, don't fall for it. You see and hear all the time people having the same problems you have, not covered, wear and tear etc. Don't buy those cheaper parking sensors, they are a little smaller then the original, the retaining bracket is loose because of this and it falls out of the bracket, the sensor is only black so it needs a paint. Been there and done it. Try getting to the sensor, unplug it and clean the contacts, wd40 is good to blast off any crud from the sockets, just let it dry before you reconnect, takes a few minutes. -
First Time Claying
Maduggo replied to Quinny's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Claying does remove small tar spots, but you have to apply firm pressure around the spot which could result in swirls or scratching. What I do is get a little bit of oil, 3 in 1 spray works ok onto the end of a cotton bud, and use that to loosen up the tar spot, tar is oil based so it breaks down with the oil. Wipe the arear with a soft cloth then give the car a wash prior to the clay process. 3 in 1 is very good for cleaning crud off your hands in general, just make sure you have a tap running with some wash liquid ready, oily crap on sink tap handles gets you a slap from the good lady, does in my house anyway. -

If you have seen and felt the difference between two cars just washed the same way, 1 clayed and the other not, then you will know what the claying fuss is about when you look at the paint and touch the paint. Not only that, claying removes the small bits of debris that washing does not and cannot, this in turn gives the paint on the car a better look & feel and will make it last longer. Check these videos for an idea on what it is all about (there are many other videos so just look about) -
Tried it on my 53reg Ls430, original nav disc. I got my data for the latitude and longditude from here http://mygeoposition.com/ Put your address in and fire away. As i said, i tried it and it was nearly bang on according to the webpage i got the data from. Even had the elevation, not sure how to check this though, yet.

More than ok, it should be a nice time, many faces new and old, bit of food and a little refreshments. So thats England, Scotland and Wales represented, any takers on the Irish corner of our Lexus world ?
