  1. Hot damn, have owned one of these for nearly 2 years now, i never knew they had this kind of mirror, i thought it had a little kid in either side door with a wrench to open and close them. My view of the 430 has gone up, has it got a real electric sunroof too or is that a little kid up there like i thought. Don't they pack adverts with rubbish that is not relevant, just to get you reading and trying to entice you in, i walk away when i read stuff like that, normally means they filling the sale with stuff you don't need to read about and not putting in what you do need to be reading.
  2. As you two were organizing it i should hope you are going. Who knows what pig farm you would stick us at for a laugh if you weren't coming :arrrggg-matey:
  3. Muc-off The product i mean, what did you think I use the aforementioned product Muc-Off, normally used on motorcycles to help remove all kinds of crap, road crud, tar, brake dust, dead bug insides, (even got off the half pheasant entrails and gore that i hit one evening a few years ago) even bird poop, get the worst off with warm soapy water, this will break down most of the poop and it will fall of anyway, spray on leave a minute or so, then gently wipe with a micro-fibre cloth to get off the stubborn stuff, repeat as necessary. Rinse area to get the residue away, then buff, polish, whatever you like when the poop is gone. Have used this stuff for many years and never had any issue, keep the specialist so called cleaners, this stuff is does all sorts to a high standard without if used carefully and swirls or scratches.
  4. It could be caused by a damaged cone. Although it could be as simple as a loose fixing somewhere close by that is vibrating.
  5. Ive used several of these canbus led bulbs, and every time the old girl throws an error where these bulbs are fitted, even the old 400 did the same. And the bulbs were not cheap crap ones that you would expect to be duff. I have tried them on another car that can throw an error and they did not throw up an error when used, so i guess the lexus system is a little bit more nervous with led bulbs.
  6. For them to pass with after fit HID with a lumen of 2000 or above the car must have either headlamp self leveling system or a headlamp washer system, these items will be checked on the mot, if either fail the test then obviously the car will fail. Also if the bulb is not seated correctly then it is also a fail.
  7. Hiya 4. did not know the 400 had phone controls on the steering wheel, my old mk 3 certainly didn't. What you have maybe an aftermarket device of some sort, so we really cannot help with that. 3. This display is a common fault after years of service, you can fix it, Edd China on wheeler dealers did one on the Ls400 they had on the show. 2. What part of the gear shifter needs replacing, if it's the knob only then it unscrews if i remember right, turn the knob anti clockwise to remove (correct me if i'm wrong guys) 1. Clunkfish seems to have covered this in his reply quite well.
  8. First thing you do is push and pull every switch & button you can find, and i will tell you there are lots of em. Give the car a thorough looking over, and under, in the wheel wells, under the hood, remove the boot spare wheel cover and have a good look around there, whilst you are there, look either side of the boot, satnav on the right, fuse box on the left, check for rust, fluid or anything that looks out of place. Test drive it, does it pull to any side, gear changes should be smooth and almost not noticable, steering should be smooth and precise, they do handle quite well for a yacht with wheels, does it pull under braking, any rattles or knocking. If you can, take another lexus owner along with you for a second set of eyes.
  9. I understand that these issues can and do make people angry, i don't doubt i would be myself if i were to buy anything and then believe that i may have been misled.
  10. Bit late entering this i know but here's my bit for what it's worth. I don't think we should ban lexuschap/adam from the forum, if this forum is making comments in regard to car trades or even the person. And lets be honest here, if members of the forum are stating that a person is doing illegal practices to vehicles prior to sale then they have the right to defend themselves, you would demand that right if it were you, well i would anyway. We as a forum need to look at things, good and bad objectively, we are not in a court, and sometimes things posted online can be taken further so we also have to be accurate and be able to prove what was alleged. Now please don't think i'm a supporter of lexuschap/adam, i just think that we should be fair and give him an opportunity to reply. Whether or not you believe in what the replies are they do have to right to answer. Just being devils advocate, sorry
  11. Erm when would this little shindig take place then, sorry to ask but my crystal ball has been sent for repairs Well spotted, thats why my crystal ball is in for repairs, it would have told me that, see not as daft as the wife looks
  12. Bit of a delay i know, but really enjoyed it. Nice to see the regulars and the new folks to, good mix of people who above all were very friendly and talkative about all things lexus and more. Nice to get into the other cars to see how the feel and look and hear the burble of the ISF. Wifey was annoyed she missed the ISF and the SC to get up close and personal too (our doggy of 14yrs was in a bad way so she stayed home, we decided to have her put to rest this morning), she has wanted to see them both up close especially the SC convertable, she said it's either that or a bmw z4 soft top, i made her wash her mouth out for a full half hour as punishment. Thanks for the duck eggs Ian n Heather, they very nice as a egg n bacon butty, feel them arteries hardening. Looking forward to the next one, hopefully the camping event in august will be a good meet to if we can get it to go ahead as a group. I'm in anyway, baring wifey work comittments she should be there too. Well i'm off to raise a glass of beer to my faithful friend of 14yrs (and maybe shed the odd tear too)
  13. As it says, twice now my car has been hit whilst parked in a public place. Only had the last scrape sorted out in Dec when a blind old ****** reversed into my parked out of the way car. Incidentally, the DVLA revoked his license after his GP contacted them, one less. Today was visiting an old work mate up Worksop, parked up just up from his house on the street, came back a few hours later to find the same side that was repaired had been hit again, not as bad as before but still broke the new sensor, and damaged the panels around the light and wing. Lexus have my car more than i do at the minute. I am now ready to lose control with ***** drivers.
  14. We must be related then, i have a nigerian cousin who is a prince. If you give me your bank details and passwords i will get him to wire you half my side of the fortune which as a related family member you are entitled to
  15. How did you purchase the car, ebay, cash buy by visiting the garage. Remeber you still have rights as a consumer. If it bought it sold as seen then it may be difficult if it is a pup. If it has problems when sold that you were not told about then seek legal advice as to your rights, citizens advice can be a start if needs be. Check the mileage via the old mot's if it has any. Check any paperwork you have if any. Well done your local lexus for the free check over, if anything is amiss then they best placed to find it.
  16. Any of you southern side of Notts attendees coming up the M1 in any kind of convoy, may meet up for a run, the car needs her baffles clearing if you get my drift.
  17. The only issue i know of is ethanol and plastic, especially plastic fuel tanks of the kind you see on big adventure style motorbikes, it slowly degrades the plastic over a few years. Had to replace a tank on my big aprillia caponord after 4 years of ownership at £1200 for the new tank and just over £100 to have the tank internals stripped then specially coated to create a barrier to stop the plastic being attacked by the ethanol in the fuel. This issue is well known and documented in the usa where ethanol is more commonly used.
  18. Just don't forget the cupcakes, don't care if you in intensive care, bring the bed if needs be, it will fit in the boot of that beast you got if you take the back seats out. Honestly though, we do get more like a family bunch on here the more i look at the posts, make you feel good i reckon Ok forget the cupcakes, Sue just told me I'm on a diet as she needs to lose weight, i think losing out here somehow
  19. There is no warning bleeper unit, it is a subliminal messaging device by Lexus
  20. Have a look at this website for parts codes, i found a couple of parts for my 53 Ls430 that matched up with part codes i know. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.megazip(blocked word) Click cars then on to you model from there.
