  1. Depends if you bringing beer or not. Seriously though, any Lexus owner from anywhere is welcome, will be a fair old trip from sunny scotland though.
  2. Barbecue sounds a good thing, we got one of them oil barrel type ones, don't mind bringing it along if needed. I'm a meat eater, so any non meat eaters will need another barby to stop contamination. What are we doing food wise, all bringing our own, or share the cost somehow. Only ask as we get our meat from donington market meat vendor. I'm bringing some beer, you cannot have a barby without beer, sorry, not in this world or universe. Lets hope the weather is going to be kind to us.
  3. Hub bearing is press fit, and no nut should be murder tight, they all are done up to a required torque setting, sadly i do not know that setting for this nut.
  4. I have used Falkens before, not had any issue with them. I do agree with Bluesman, 65k miles is a bit of a punt, i reckon 30 to 40 is more like it, if you drive sensible that is. The image they use is the actual tread pattern for that tyre.
  5. To keep a good car in good paint condition then you really need to go down the clay bar route. Yes it can take a while, especially on a big lexus. Yes it can also make you arms and back hurt with the effort. But when you have finished and put a good wax over the top, you will not believe how smooth the paintwork feels. And getting those bits of crud off the paint that washing misses will make the paint last longer and look better. Took me best part of 6hrs last time i washed, clayed and waxed my old girl, another 7hrs for the car after that I hope sue don't read this, or i may have a pair of black eyes at our next meet
  6. Drop in to the meet on Sun 8th organized by Stuno1, possibly at Dunstable downs, not a great distance from you.
  7. If the fuzzy boyz intend to prosecute, you can take it or defend against it via the court procedure, then they must produce the actual speed you were doing and where you were doing it, the speed must be from a sanctioned recording device with provable calibration certificate, you must request for this proof of calibration prior to the hearing, if they won't or can't then the judge will throw them out of court. Go here for a look.... http://www.speedingfinesuk.co.uk/
  8. Another way to get more out of the consumer, the next thing they will expect is for you to have a designated hard wired dash cam to go with the box for video evidence. And you still will not get any discount on your premium.
  9. Bit late i know, sorry. You could try Shiply.... http://www.shiply.com/ Its a kind of reverse ebay, you post what you want moving, from where to where and let them bid on who can do it the cheapest. Iv'e used it both ways, as a buyer of a delivery service and a delivery service as well (not for cars though). We went to the isle of man tt races in 2013, i saw 3 items for delivery there, all small so i bid and got all 3, it wasnt out of my way and it paid for the fuel in the lexus for the trip, bonus. I had 4 ls400 wheels delivered from brighton 2 years ago now, it cost 25quid all in and i chose the delivery day as well.
  10. Flat in 2 weeks, i think it is more than just a boot light bulb causing that drainage of power. Mine has stood for more than 3weeks with no issue at all, even with the old battery. What voltage has the battery got when the car is switched off ? and then when ticking over.
  11. Go back and tell them to get a decent mechanic instead of a monkey, halfords auto centres (nottm hucknall) did my air con service (drain and refill, deodorise) at my mot for free. If i'm not mistaken, they are in front of the rad on the right as you look at the rad. I'm having a beer so not going near my car as it is the wrong direction from the fridge, and it is in the garage. I'm being lazy today
  12. If you feel that battery drainage is being caused, possibly by the boot light, i would not be interested in removing the bulb, i would be more concerned in fixing the issue causing the light to drain the battery, does it switch on when it should not, if it does, why. Just a thought, not an attack at you.
  13. My Ls430 satnag is the original disc, i do use it on occasion. I won't be paying £100+ to update it to the toyota/lexus "latest" disc when it is over 5yrs old as steve says. If we are going somewhere like holiday destinations etc, I use my tomtom truck satnag, lifetime updates, cameras, full europe coverage, USA navcore swapable with the europe navcore via pc. £250 The biggest issue i find with the lexus nav is that it is cumbersome to use, it really needs full postcode search, i don't know of any business, homeowner that now does not give postcode as a way of directions to them. It needs to be more visually pleasing as well, dull and boring to look at, i want bells and whistles, fanfares when you get to the destination, not some stuffy nosed sqeaky arsed virgin saying i'm at the destination. Come on Lexus, catch up.
  14. I have seen a couple of 2001 models on fleabay that didn't have parking sensors. Must be very early model 430's.
  15. If it has factory fitted park assist then you will see the sensors on the rear bumper, 4 of them, they should also be colour coded to the bumper. You should have 6 in the front bumper also. You can switch the park assist off and on from inside the cabin, to the right of the steering wheel next to the switch that you use to adjust the wing mirrors. The wiring you are seeing may not be for the park assist system, these cars are all wires, they fart by wire.
  16. If not doing silly things like work then i should make it May even let wife out of the cellar for a morning, bit of fresh air and all that, wont be let her out for too long though, she may get used to it, she may even start wanting the vote next, got to watch them you know
  17. Assuming i'm not working this day i will be heading of south for the meeting organized by stuno1 down Dunstable downs. Can we re-arrange plank and legget one for the following week maybe or is it set in stone as it looks like not many attendees at present. Only reason i ask is i would like to go to both and i do feel that it's fair i attend one further afield as many distance travellers come to us here in Notts. And if anyone wants to go with me to the Dunstable one then we can convoy or share my car if they so wish, just a thought.
  18. I'm not here, i'm asleep, so be quiet will you or you may just wake me up, you won't like me when i'm woke up
  19. So is it the 7th June Saturday or 8th June Sunday What is the postcode or venue name if you have decided that bit yet.
  20. Which fuse box, it has many, 1 in driver and passenger footwell, 3 in engine bay, and 1 hidden in the boot, that i know of, maybe more but not found them yet. I did find a first aid kit in the hide away seat tray on the driver side of my 430 after a year of owning it, and some sunglasses in the pop down holder next to the sun roof. Wow Chris... I have now located the fuse box in foot well but the others are still a mystery...is there an easy memoir aid as to which is for what? The user manual very helpfully says that you should carry spare fuses in case of emergency.... I also never knew there were hide away trays...and there they are on both the driver and passenger side...but ALAs they are empty! And no sun glasses in the pop down holder either.... Ok here goes. Boot, lift carpet so you can see the spare wheel, to the left edge (and right edge) is another bit of carpet you can remove, left side is fuse box, right side is the satnag unit. Engine bay, from the front bumper looking back to the windscreen, small box immediately to the left of the brake fluid reservoir, another is immediately in front of the battery, long and slim, and the last one is a square shape to the right side of the engine bay next to the big cover panel. Cabin, each footwell, on the outer edge of the footwells. The covers of the fuse boxes do have a diagram of the fuses and what they are for. I carry a little tub with a selection of spare fuses and a fuse puller, also a few spare bulbs for the various lights around the car.

  22. Hot damn, have owned one of these for nearly 2 years now, i never knew they had this kind of mirror, i thought it had a little kid in either side door with a wrench to open and close them. My view of the 430 has gone up, has it got a real electric sunroof too or is that a little kid up there like i thought. Don't they pack adverts with rubbish that is not relevant, just to get you reading and trying to entice you in, i walk away when i read stuff like that, normally means they filling the sale with stuff you don't need to read about and not putting in what you do need to be reading. I am the same as you. Just as a side issue what are the employment stakes like? Mike Taking a month or so off to do the house bits that iv'e been meaning to do, nearly done now, garden sorted, decorating sorted, even built a small storage unit for the patio chairs n table, barbecue etc. So at the moment i don't have time to do a full time job, now where did i put my pinny.........
  23. Depending on what is happening work wise and home wise, i will try to get down there, not to far in a big old bruiser Ls430. They eat motorways for breakfast, and the morons in the jammed out clio rent-a-skips that always seem to want to race anything from an invalid carriage to a bus..
  24. Ls 400 P reg. Water ingress in boot area. Replaced boot seal, new seal around the aerial opening.
  25. Ok folks, we are hearing regularly of common faults on the Ls series, so the thought crossed me to see what they are. Here's what to do, ONLY reply if you have had a fault on your car, not i here old bill had his car in the garage again. Say what the car model and year is and what the fault was, and the remedy. Please try to keep it this way then we can start to see faults only and not read replies to posts about replies if you get my drift. Lets see if we can build a better picture of what faults we are seeing.
