  1. Fuses for the mirrors are Radio No 2 fuse [feeds the switch] [bottom of steering column] and the DOME fuse. [under bonnet.] Relay and headlight washer motor are at the bottom of the washer bottle. Book says remove the fender liner, presumably the front wing liner. The cleaner switch is also connected to the headlight control switch through the integration relay [bet you knew that!] whatever that is. The pic of the headlight cleaner switch also shows terminal 6 " from TAIL LH or PANEL fuse, think that is only for the switch light. Hope this of some use
  2. Look up on the USA LOC website for a post by Cole Carter Explains the problem and the fix... B)
  3. Re tilt steering there is a post on the USA Loc for this problem, posted by wandawoods 13 Sept 2003. Explains a fix for this. If no luck with trans. think Lexus can read diagnostic code for autobox faults. cheers
  4. When I bought my '94 LS, both front springs were broken, not in a catastrophic way, just lowering the front about 30 mm on each side. I bought oem springs and did the job myself. The strut with spring can be removed complete and worked on in 'comfort' in a vice. make some lead linings for the vice jaws so you don't mark the strut.[old lead flashing will do] This job on Macpherson strut type suspension I found much easier and less scary than the same job on wishbone type. Your local recommended independant garage can do this job if Lex labour costs are staggering. All you need is a good vice [6inch] and most important the best butch spring compressorsyou can buy or borrow.Don't try it with mickey mouse ones, these are strong springs!! If the spring support on the strut has ripped off, obviously the strut will have to be replaced as well. cheers :winky:
  5. Have Blueprint front discs on, after 12 months no problem....all Blueprint seem to be good quality :)
  6. Have a look at the speed sensor rotors on each wheel, [look like a castle wall] if they are very dirty between serrations, it sometimes fools the abs sensor. cheers ;)
  7. You should be able to have matching brake pipes made up, ready to fit , if you can get the old ones off intact. Someone in your area will know some garage or independant who can do this. After replacement spray them with 'Waxoyl' Mine are going rusty too, should'nt happen on a car costing £50k, Lexus take note. cheers
  8. Check with other LOC members, I thought you could get the bushes you want. Maybe from the USA, not sure , worth a seperate post cheers
  9. Hi! According to the w/shop manual, the sender appears to be a normal variable resistor arrangement. There is a test procedure given, but it looks like you have to remove it to do it. You have to make up a tester using three 1.5 volt batteries and a 3.4 watt bulb. If you intend to do it let me know and I will 'post' the info. B)
  10. Agreed above, just to complicate matters a bit more, there is an 'ISC' idle speed control valve, looks like it's at the front of the engine,[have'nt looked, just looking at a picture in the manual] looks like a little motor, has two water pipes connected to it. Apparently after engine warm up it should make a clicking sound There are checks given to test if it moves in both directions. Think maybe we are going in too deep. When the aircon is switched on does the engine 'idle up' ie increase revs a bit?
  11. Hi! According to the w/shop manual chart of problem symptons for the TPS, you would have one or more of the following problems:hi engine idle speed, hesitation/poor acceleration, back fire, surging, engine stall after accelerator pedal depressed, poor fuel economy. The diagnostic code would be 41. As you don't seem to have any of these problems...do you think you should throw the Avo or whatever tester you are using away??!!!!! If you have traction control there is a sub-TPS as well.......... fault code 47 cheers ;)
  12. Try http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusLS400str1.htm :winky:
  13. Hi According to my manual, the reading with no clearance between the lever and the stop screw is 0.2-1.2Kohms The dashpot[damper] has a set speed adjustment setting ,it has a cap and internal filter. Yes engine starts approx 12-1500 revs and drops down rapidly Hope this is not more confusing than useful!
  14. Quick check after a run, is one side noticeably hotter than the other? If so the hottest is still binding ;)
  15. Hi! This is the info from a series 2 ls 400 w/shop manual. There is no code listed with the number 15 Code 14 is open circuit or short in the water temp.sensor circuit code 13 open or short in evaporator temp.sensor circuit code 21 same in the solar sensor circuit* code 22 same compressor lock sensor circuit* code 31 same in air mix damper position sensor circuit code 32 same in air inlet damper position sensor circuit code 33 open circuit in air mix damper sensor circuit open or short in air mix servomotor circuit air mix sevomotor locked code 34 open in air inlet damper position sensor circuit open or short in air inlet servomotor circuit air inlet servomotor locked *Open circuit in solar sensor and locking of the compressor are detected only when they are current troubles.Other codes detect both current troble[buzzer sound]and past trouble[no buzzer sound] ;)
  16. To check the aircon system, turn on the ignition while pressing the AUTO button and the REC [recirculate] button simultaneously. After the indicator light check the diagnostic code check starts automatically 00 is normal 11 is open circuit or short in the room temp.sensor circuit 12 is same for ambient temp THERE ARE 11 CODES Press the OFF button to cancel the test. To clear the stored code remove the DOME fuse for 10 secs. or more[under bonnet] B)
  17. Did you have a warning light on[ alternator not charging] or did the whole thing just drop dead?
  18. The book numbers are Rm170E1.....Volume 1 Rm170E2.......................................volume 2 EwD080Y Electrical wiring 1 and 2 are about 2inches sorry 50 mm thick wiring about 1inch 50mm for UCF10 Series Ls 400 ;) ←
  19. Have you checked both radio fuses? Radio #1 fuse under bonnet Radio #2 fuse, bottom of steering column fuse box ;)
  20. after you remove the old disc, [may need a tap to loosen it],don't forget to clean the hub before you put the new disc on. A smear of antiseize compound on as well is good, to stop the new one rusting on Any dirt on here will not let the new disc run true, daft problems follow. cheers ;)
