  1. If the caliper is off, try compressed air to blow it out. [if you have access to it] DON'T HAVE ANY ONE NEAR IT, THEY SOME TIMES COME OUT WITH SOME FORCE! If no joy go the WD40 route and then replace the seal.
  2. Get some conductive paint for this job or for repairing broken printed circuits...Halfords?, Radiospares?,[RS] Maplin Electronics etc Clean screen carefully, mask off either side of break and then paint the line back in with the above. :winky:
  3. Me too, as all the above............
  4. If it goes off when you hit a bump, I would look for bad connections, bad grounding, corroded connections, loose bulb etc. Try to trace the feed wire back to a junction or whatever, for me it sounds like a bad ground. Might be worth checking the fuses, if each headlight is on a different fuse. ;)
  5. There are a lot of specialist firms repairing alternators for exchange etc., try autotrader or yellow pages Check for posts LOC for the p/steering problem, sometimes the fault is only a failed 'O' ring on the unit. Not always a disaster! :winky:
  6. Try making all the settings you like, with the key in ACC position. Then hold say # 1 button till it beeps. That should memorise the setting if I remember right!
  7. Did you speed up the engine past idling speed? Alternator does not always come in at slow idle If you tried it about 2000rpm with the heated rear screen and lights on, it should exceed 12 volts, if not it is suspect.
  8. Welcome to the best owners club..... Check your alternator by putting a voltmeter accross the battery terminals. Run the engine at about 1500 rpm minimum, turn on the heated rear screen, headlights etc., to put a 'load' on the alternator. Voltmeter must read 13 to 14 volts to prove alternator 'keeping up with demand' If not, alternator problem, assuming the battery is good, how old is it? Misfire could be plugs, leads, distributors, etc.an assortment What plugs did you fit? Cannot help with remote, my remote key was missing when I got the car, still getting around to it..........
  9. If they are worn through, they will need replacing to give you pad wear warning in the future. People are joining the break back together as a temporary measure to turn off the warning lamp, or if the wire is broken elsewhere. :winky:
  10. Might be corrosion lifting the tyre away from the wheel, spoiling the seal. Had this on an old car, tyre man wire brushed the inside of the wheel and painted some kind of seal on it. It was OK after that.
  11. Without fail, expect Bill Gates downloaded his own driver.......
  12. It's for sale! Is it a collectors item of the future? It's on EBAY worldwide
  13. Did they put the meter across the battery with engine running at say 1500rpm, with the lights or something turned on? This would tell you if the alternator was putting out 13 to 14 volts, as previuos writer says. If it is, it's less likely to be an alternator fault.
  14. Try these for a start......Radio #1 fuse ,under bonnet, large black box on right. Radio #2 fuse, on right near accelerator pedal
  15. As above...plus how old is the battery? I had a similar problem with a Granada, one cell faulty, would work for days then all shut down to creep home mode.
  16. I had odd alarm problems when I first got my LS. It all went away when I fitted a new battery. Think poor battery condition.......make sure yours is fully charged [and good, no duff cells ] As above for key/alarm not silenced problem. If no joy try the USA LOC, they've got more LS than us!
  17. Have a ride 'round the houses' ,when you get back, feel each wheel, or disc if you can. BEWARE it could be hot enough to BURN YOU! If any of your brakes are binding, that one will be hotter than the others....... :winky:
  18. I'm guessing at this, try opening the boot with the ordinary key and see if this clears the anti theft syatem. If not, try leaving it in the ignition for a few minutes with the key turned to ACC. I can't remember the sequence, if no other posts try the USA site. :duh:
  19. It's no problem, just make sure you have all your facts ready when you present your case. It's informal, but like any other case you must have your 'evidence' presented clearly.
  20. OK Thanks for that.......I'll stick to Toyota then..... :)
  21. Can anyone tell me the difference between Dexron 2 and Dexron 3?? What are the specs?
