The Mk 2 can't open the boot with engine running.

Used to have alarm problems on my S320 and the forum was always very helpful but for obvious reasons they didn't like to advertise too often how to disable the Alarm system. It used to require two specific cables to be spliced and reocnnected as I recall. On the Lexus unless you know for certain that just snipping a cable won't prevent your starting system from operating I'd be somewhat cautious. How about wrapping the siren in something to insulate the sound until you've discovered the reason for the fault? Just a thought.

The 335 is currently priced at £116.99 being a saving on £151.20. I'm going to get the battery out on Monday to double check measurements before buying. Varta I know, but not so sure about the Yuasa brand. These are the current options for around £90.

Having an appointment tomorrow I've not disconnected the battery to check measurements of existing. Didn''t want to tempt providence. Have put battery on charger and after several hours its not reporting a full charge. but 12.48v on multimeter. The Varta has four years not one year Guarantee, but that and the Yuesa both quote depths of 225 0r 220. From what I can measure the battery is only 170 height + terminals, so a bit confused. The Terminals can't be 55mm in height. Will have to leave until Friday when I can disconnect.and remove cover. Anyone with a 93 and can tell me exactly what their battery depth is, by any chance. If it is too high then the cover to the air duct won't fit properly. ps Hugh what brand of battery which failed, did they supply?

Silly me - the terminals are at the back and not front. Must not look at things in the dark! Te Yuasa is a four year G'tee (for what its worth) whereas the Varta Ive looked at is only one year. I'll get the wife to heave it out.

Been monitoring the battery since it died at the Airport and today it was down to 12.38 so need to replace. Too dark to examine brand name and not looking forward to rupturing myself taking it out. On the top is the reference 335, 700ccp and 90 Amp.hour. No idea as to make or age of existing but has done alright so far. Checking, and most batteries seem to have the terminals the wrong way around to what i need even though described as "335". This for example which with 4 years guarantee looks a good bet, but terminals seem wrong for a 1993. Maybe they just put a stock photo up of a different model battery? No dealership near me and so will have to do the job myself. Happiest with Bosch or Exide. Varta E24 looked like lesser CCP and once again wrong terminal configuration. No mention in this Ad of the Amp charging rate. Came back to Stansted Friday after ten days and found battery flat. OK AA added their kit and car started. After a few minutes running, disconnected their unit and Car started on its own power. Checked battery yesterday and 12.5v so maybe a tad under power which may suggest Battery on its way out and that alarm has been enjoying itself in my absence. Did unlock front doors on the remote, but not back doors. Barely a flicker on the instrument panel before rescue arrived. Will monitor voltage over next few days. PS My lights never flash and I prefer they don't. No noisy beep either, just the sound of the mechanism. Where's my wallet!!

I filled out an email request for a quote and they never came back to me, possibly because my Car is six years older than yours.

I think if you check one of the search engines (Compare the meerkat possibly) for cover it show the age of vehicles they will cover.

I'd be happy to pay £294. No accidents reported, and fifty years licence, though Wing mirror kiss with another car (his fault though he lied) was reported and no claim entered by either party. Could however be on the record. Ruined my New Year worrying about it i recall a couple of years back. Pay more to get International Breakdown cover which for cars over a certain age is not available. Whats £300 today? Comp essential for peace of mind.

Had my exhaust Y pipe replaced by Powerflow Ipswich today. Car sounds so much quieter. Feeling right chuffed driving home, only marred by a stone being thrown up by Car coming in opposite direction putting a bullet hole in the Windscreen. Fortunately it didn't smash and have repaired with a kit. Had to repair one only a couple of months ago. This time I was the target ! Job done for same price as thread starter. I check the power steering level regularly as there is a very slight leak. Its bang up to the correct level. Not burbed the cooling system and I suppose as I changed the Expansion tank a few months back it could be that air got in the system, though I only noticed the occasional noise recently. Will check out the threads explaining how its done and give it a try.

I'm wondering if my Air con needs re-gassing? When the Car is up to temperature I've noticed when stationary a very slight gurgling sound coming from some where. No noise on start up and actually it can gurgle when cornering at low speed but stops fairly quickly. The expansion tank is full and there is no Mayonaisse in the Oil Cap but i can't see any water dripping from under the Car as condensation. The Air -con is working wonderfully and its ice cold which I regard as a major plus side of this car but i don't want to neglect the Air con if something needs be done. I am hesitant about going to the usual places that suggest they do Air con as you hear so many stories. Can anyone tell me where the escape tube is located and can it be seen from the engine bay? I want to check its flowing well before doing anything else.

My last Mercedes was Smarage Schwarz which is defined as being "Black" but in certain lights it had a greeny blue tinge to it. Hate colours that are not colours. I don't see Green in that Car at all, (well exccept perhaps the Glass) but it must be me. Doh! White stick on order!

The Car I've linked to is also described as "GREEN" but to my eyes its "GREY". Or are you Gents pulling my leg?

Liverpool Victoria. Just today took our Car Rental Excess Insurance cover today having cancelled the cover I bought at the time of booking a Car a month or so ago. Funny that the cover I bought today turned out to be for an annual period (rather than a one off fortnight) and cost half the price I previously paid - and is covered by the same Insurer.

Thanks for that. I should add something I may not have noticed before, is that when pushing the Tape Deck button nothing comes up on the screen nor does it change from CD or Radio. I've rather assumed it would change automatically if a Tape Cassette is fed in. Is this right? Does the word "Tape" come up on screen. Not easy to check the button contact from memory of when I last had it out.?

My Tape Deck doesn't draw in a Tape. Has anyone repaired a Tape Deck on a Lexus? Is it so interwoven with the Radio that it would be a difficult job to replace just the Tape Deck? Last time I had a brief look I think I ruled out any attempt. I use my MP3 player with an FM Transmitter but it's not always successful abroad and I find it irritating to have the Ashtray open with FM gubbins sticking in it or extending from it. I thought I'd change the position of the Cigar lighter to the panel with the Gear change which would tidy things, but there's no space on the earlier car to position it there. Perhaps it can be positioned on the panel with the Remote on/off switch though I've no idea if there is room. Having added my Facia Kit I don't want to look for a replacement Radio and will stick with what I've got, but did wonder why the Tape isn't working and if there is/could be a simple solution so I can add one of those Tapes with cable to connect to the MP3.
