  1. When in a map , select "menu" then "route" and you will be given the choice of stopping route trace.or starting if its already off.
  2. Can find this out so heres a guess : you can set areas to avoid - this may indicate the route to that destination passes through one of these areas?
  3. They are route trace markings - cookie crumbs to re-trace your route. You can switch it off in the menus..
  4. The NX was noisy on mway period. Maybe tyre size/make made it bad. My old CRV wasnt that noisy on mway. Shame as it was so refined in urban driving. Overall i likes it though. Definatly a hybrid for me next time.
  5. Yes it was a new GS. I mentioned replaced by ES rumour and he confirmed it was a new GS. At least at the moment...
  6. I raised this with a Lexus dealer when my car went in for a service this week. I was told that when the sales staff went on a "meet the new LC" day with Lexus, they were given a presentation on the Lexus model roadmap. Aside from the new LS, and CT, they are releasing a Lexus version of the Toyota CH-R and a new GS was on the plan for 2019
  7. I had an nx300h as a courtesy car yesterday, I I thought it was noisy at motorway speeds, but seemed to be more like tyre noise, especially at the back. Compared to my GS it was quite loud. Absolutey fine at urban speeds.
  8. Ive dealt with 2 dealers for purchase - Lexus Chester and Lexus Stockport, and Lexus Bolton for servicing. All 3 have been excellent. Happy customer.
  9. Apologies if someone has already pointed this out, but the ES is basically a Toyota Camry (until current model) which is why its FWD. The current model shares its platform with the Toyota Avalon (big saloon). The ES is smaller than the GS so sits between the IS and GS., but, it is priced just over the IS but a fair bit under the GS, especially in Hybrid form (from the Lexus USA website). Its place in the range is a bit odd. If IS = 3 series\C class\Audi A4 and the GS = 5 series, E class, A6, then the ES almost seems = high end non "premium" large saloons - VW passat, Buicks\Caddilacs and other big but cheaper saloons in the US market? So not sure how 1 combined model would work in the US market but compete in the class above in Europe\Asia? ES
  10. Points Id agree with: Sat nav is fiddly - but to be fair I never read the manual and dont use it that often Auto wipers - never seem to be quite where I want them in terms of sensitivity Road noise - can be too loud for this class of car on some road surfaces. However, mine had semi budget tyres fitted which are quite worn now, when I change it will be to decent tyres so that may help dont agree with: auto lights - I find them absolutley fine, never need to manually do anything. Cant remember what sensitivity I have them set on. Only issue I have is a noise from the drivers door over bumps, which I think is the window seems a bit loose ie when closed can move around a little. Ill get the dealer to take a look at service time Overall I love the car
  11. I have the current GS (13 plate), but the 250 so I cant comment on the hybrid aspect. But I can say having owned the GS for 6 months now its a deeply satisfying car to own\drive\live with. Mine is the luxury spec with Mark Levinson sound and 12" screen. Its comfortable, roomy, feels very planted on the road, interior quality is excellent.
  12. I drive a GS and Im 44. I bought by IS at 41, A fellow GS owner at work is similar age to me, A CT owner is mid 30's...
  13. Too right - my first though as well. £10k to make a 2007 car with only 41k miles "Safe"?? I know Lexus charge a lot but there is a 5 year plus scheme for cheaper rates\parts.
  14. I remember when this forum was all fields.....and you could get your Lexus serviced and get some chips on the way home, see a film at the local picture house and still have change from 5d shilling tupence. Tell young people today and they dont believe you.....
  15. Same here. But the better MPG I've seen in the GS- which curiously I didnt in my IS250 - is a definate bonus
  16. Last Tuesday I needed to fill up again. Did so with a tank of Vpower. Almost straight way mty MPG has gone back to high 29-low 30 from the mid 26 - low 27 of the Supermarket unleaded. I can tell the car has a little more pep also. Guess she likes the good stuff.
  17. This is the change I did. Even happier with the GS than I was with the IS. Only downside, so i thought, would be MPG, but I get the same from the GS.
  18. pretty sure most of this didnt change significantly in Chorley in my GS between Monday and Wednesday
  19. True it is early days but seeing my MPG drop by 2.5-3 straight away and still not showing much improvement over a few days - when I'm driving same route in the same way - still a bit suprising.
  20. yes I agree, except I'm not using vpower for performance, I use mostly for the cleaning detergent s the 250 engine has had carbon build up issues reported in the past. However, having switched to normal unleaded, due to circumstance at the time I needed to fill up, I've suffered the drop in MPG that I wasn't expecting. Modern cars are designed to run on either, but my understanding is as you've stated ;The more powerful the engine the bigger difference high octane fuel makes. With the GS I haven't noticed any perceivable difference in performance.
  21. Ive had my GS250 for a few months now and covered 5000 miles. I've only ever filled up with Shell Vpower. I usually have the "after refill" MPG in the 28-29 range by the time I've used a full tank. This is with motorway driving accounting for 10% or so of the mileage. A few days ago I filed up with a tank of tesco standard unleaded and straight away struggled to get the after refill mpg into the 26's mpg and just managed 27.1 mpg after 15 miles of relaxed motorway driving (65-70 mph). I'll see how it goes but so far the extra expense of Vpower pays for itself with better mpg. Ive never seen such difference between vpower and standard unleaded before including on my IS250.
