  1. Turn off Mirror link in the phone settings. Its in the "More Connection Settings" menu. Ed
  2. It is not just a case of unbolting the seats and replacing them. Seats have airbags in them so probably ok from another IS but I doubt it would work with GT86 seats. Electric memory seats would require a lot of work fitting the extra wiring switches etc. Why not push the budget and buy an Fsport as it seems that is what you really want!!
  3. It was quite noticeable (grunt) on my IS300 and definitely rear brakes, lightly pressing on the pedal and creeping along with no accelerator. My present GS300h is only very slightly affected. I will try the hard stop and see if it clears it.
  4. You wouldn't hear a slight noise from the brakes over that rattly old diesel tractor engine!! Why Mercedes keep on flogging that old 2.1 lump is a mystery to me. That is why I didnt buy one.
  5. Or could the Hybrid drive be more demanding on the brakes from stationary? Ed
  6. There is a thread about IS300h dash cams. I will have a search.
  7. My previous IS300h was terrible for rear brake groan. Lexus dealer dismssed it as normal. They didn't even attempt any kind of rectification. My present GS also does it to a much lesser extent. I will try hard braking and see if it improves. My previous (non Lexus) car had little use less than 3k a year and lived outside and had lovely quiet brakes!! Ed
  8. The press tend to drive around a test track like lunatics and base their conclusions on that. As we all know the Lexus hybrid drive is designed for use on the public road not the test track. I would actually avoid a car designed for the test track!! They say the engine can be heard on hard acceleration and that it is a bad thing then they test a BMW and say the engine note can be heard and that it is sporty!! I had an IS300h and now have a GS300H and both superb. I could not go back to a noisy oil burner now. Enjoy your NX. Post a few pictures up!! Ed
  9. At 30,000 miles (48,000 KM) the Bridgestones on my Fsport were still serviceable, the inner edge was worn but not much. To get 30k miles from rear tyres on a rear wheel drive car is pretty good imho. Even 38K KM is 24k miles so still not terrible. Ed
  10. Normal wear & tear. My (ex) Fsport did 30k and the tyres looked much like yours. My previous car was 13 years old and it drove straight & the tyres always wore evenly. Every time I purchased new tyres they offered to "check the tracking sir" every time I declined. It never required it. I must admit you are a braver man than me to trust anything on your Lexus to Kwik Fit Ed
  11. I traded my IS300H Fsport in for a GS300H. I got over book for the IS and paid below book for the GS. I buy a car because I like it and it suits my needs. Even if Peugeots do depreciate less which I doubt, I would not touch one with a barge pole because I cannot stand them. Life is to short to drive around in a Peugeot!! The Lexus NX is one of the slowest depreciating cars and no Lexus is in the below average section. Prices vary between dealers to as I found out when trading in my IS for a GS. I walked away a few times before I was happy. Ed
  12. I have just switched from an IS300H Fsport to an GS 300H Luxury. Different cars in many ways but also similar to. I decided I wanted comfort over sporty so loving the GS. It seems even better built than the IS. Very comfortable and very refined. I have a feeling that the GS is a slow seller so there are good deals to be had. Ed
  13. You made the right decision. The NX is superb. Ed
  14. The quiescent current is what the car needs to power it basic functions when locked. Alarm, approach lights sensors etc. My camera is wired to a switched ignition feed but then it isn't recording when the car is parked. I think there are battery savers available which switch off the camera when a certain voltage is reached so avoids a completely flat battery. Ed
  15. Lovely car lovely colour. I love the look of the Fsport but found the suspension a little firm on mine so have now traded it in for a GS300H and boy is it comfortable. It has nice little extras like cabin ambient lighting in the doors and seems to have even better build quality than the IS. Ed
  16. You can jump start the IS but not with a huge set of croc clips direct to the battery in the boot. Use the port in the engine bay. If you are worried about the 12v battery going flat then invest in one of the many small lithium jump started boxes available. I keep one in my boot just in case. As the Hybrid system uses the traction battery to start the 12v battery does not need much to energise the electronics. This type of thing as an example of the many similar ones available. https://www.amazon.co.uk/8000mAh-Portable-Flashlight-Advanced-Protection/dp/B012SXUK24/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1463049569&sr=8-5&keywords=car+jump+starter I measured the quiescent current and it was around 15mA. So as the battery is rated at 55Ah then 3600 hours or 150 days before flat. Ed
  17. Stick it in sport and manual and use the paddles with the ASC on and it is fun and pretty fast. For most of the time on the congested UK roads the E-CVT makes a lot of sense. I would struggle to go back to a diesel.
  18. I measured the quiescent current and it was around 15mA. So as the battery is rated at 55Ah then 3600 hours or 150 days before flat. Ed
  19. It depends on what the quiescent current is. if I can be bothered I will go and get the clamp meter out and measure it!.
  20. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-portable-function-16800mAh-gasoline/dp/B012CSYE5Y This is one I bought. It has good reviews and a decent current rating. It is only in the boot for just in case so not tried it out! Ed
  21. One of the bad reviews was trying to jump start a flat battery on a 2.5 Litre diesel Audi. Remember the Lexus IS300h doesnt need a huge ammount of power to start as the traction battery does the donkey work. I have a similar one my boot to just in case!! Ed
  22. Auto lights are only activated by low light. Would you switch your lights on in rain or snow yourself even if it wasn't dark? I know I would. I have auto wipers but I still operate them manually!
  23. I agree with you. I sat in one in the showroom and thought it was a nice car but little things put me off. The roof of the boot had no trim just bare metal whereas the Lexus is properly trimmed. The doors didn't thunk shut like the Lexus. Some say its because they are made of aluminium but I actually believe they are steel. Lexus seems premium whereas the Jag doesn't really at least in the parts you notice. I still really like the XE though but it has imho a slightly old man image to it. There are also loads around here in Warwickshire. Ed.
