  1. Can one just drive around and get vehicle to temp then jack up the car ? Or it is important to have it at a certain temp? Also, unless lexus UK service manual suggests changing it, I do not see much reason. If it has gone dirty then I would be very worried. I have changed transmission oil in cars in past and it never shows any improvement regardless of the high spec oil I have used. It is for the matter for servicing. Also there is a filter in auto box isn't it? How will one clean that? Drop the whole sump ? Linas What special too is required ?
  2. I would check the disc and shims. Depends on the type of rims you have but it's an easy check. Maybe they never replaced them? I think pads last about 5-8 years in a car and disc can last till 10 years easily if pads were replaced on time. Just saying...
  3. I don't know why castol website suggests o use 0w30 edge. So I ignore this and use Magnetic 5w30? BTW made a typo in the subject.
  4. the ones you got is 67db . Is it noticeably quiet ? For myself Kwikfit is coming at a better price. my tyres have more options including a maxx sport GT one.
  5. Hi Linas Last I checked on Dunlop website I couldn't see RT having rim protection. TT has. Do you have any picture? Can you confirm rim protection with RT? I need fronts replaced. 225 40 R18 Y 92 TT http://www.dunloptires.com/en-US/tires/sp-sport-maxx-tt-tires RT http://www.dunloptires.com/en-US/tires/sport-maxx-rt
  6. Contact ML directly. They should help. I suggest get an aftermarket amp to power the sub. Most amp these days (like JBL) can take high level input so you do not need RCA. I think stock ML amp might be underpowered. If you are going ahead with ML make certain it has enough power to pound the sub and not distort. Rule of thumb is amp should be 100 to 200 % more powerful then the sub. Else you won't get any bass and what you get will be terrible. I have been through this road. If you have ample power 150-200% then go with sealed enclosure for crisp punch. else if you are underpowered 75-100% go with ported. Internet is full info. Do it right the first time else it adds to cost.
  7. RT is 68db of noise, A on grip and C on fuel TT is 71db noise, B on grip and E on fuel. BUT has rim kerb protection. Same price from kwikfit. Then which one to go for ?
  8. Thanks all. z28dunc where do you get that price from ? ECP sells it for 24 and 10percent drop makes it about 22.
  9. Is it worth getting castol 0w5 (golden container) or should I stick to usual castor 5w30 A1/A5 (green container)? thanks.
  10. 341267 is rear shock from kyb for GS300 2005. 551132 is rear for 2006 IS250 (No 2005) Seems they won't interchange. You can be clever and see which other cars use them same part number and get those then. KYB shock's are very good quality. So maybe you can purchase those ? Try website http://showmetheparts.com/kybMobile/
  11. try searching / contacting shock manufacturer's. Check KYB website. then cross check and see if there is one size fit all by comparing part numbers.
  12. if there is an amp in the boot check it's inputs and outputs. that's how I will approach this. if you don't have an oscope use a DMM set to AC and play a sine wave (50hz tone). you should see higher voltage after amp and much much lower before amp. check power gnd and fuses as well.
  13. why can't I fit 245 instead of 225 in front now that to mention ?
  14. I have to get two new front tyres. Thinking of Dunlop Sport Rt . However some other brands have rim protection for kerbing. Question is should I pay more to get them or for few quid buy those ring protectors from eBay ? thanks.
  15. installation looks straight forward. If it comes to it i'll just get a new pump and do it. What surprises me is so many known issues that one needs to be aware of. And how lexus knows and checks everything. Wonder if they have a check list.
  16. Can't one just replace the bearing then rather spend on a new pump ?
  17. how do they check that ? Remove the belt? Is the water pump issue due to poor coolant ?Perhaps coolant needs higher concentration ? It's utter rubbish if it is a falling part for no reason.
  18. has the engine over heated by any chance ? UK weather won't allow it to over heat easily but if pump is not working then water isn't circulating in the engine. Can you check the color and amount of coolant you have? Only do this when engine is cold. There is DIY on US forms for replacing the pump. Let me know what a garage quotes you. Also, does it come cheaper if you buy your own parts ?... I won't drive the car around anymore .
  19. post a video if you can. I would like it hear it. If not is it something like this : Watch "2007 IS250 Engine Noise" on YouTube - If it's the water pump get it done before your engine overheats, I guess. Sad Lexus is just any other car.
  20. Ahmed have you listed your car somewhere ? How hard are you finding to sell a car ? Have you sold cars before ?
  21. but then there are many tests by random folks on YouTube proving additives off the shelf don't do anything... so I wouldn't bother with additives of the shelf...
  22. rayaans Yeah you are right. it's just fruitless exercise but I had promised to share some number and to end this thread. But I do not see it coming economical in terms of fuel cost.
  23. OK. I have seen for now: 23.4mpg and 28.68mpg with Tesco unleaded. I have witnessed 30.05mpg with momentum 99. Filled it up one more time with 99. Then I will move to shell. I have to admit the local shell never sees an y customers
  24. I have seen some people on Facebook they advertise is220 sand alike cars with high millage and for high price. How do they manage to sell it ? I am also thinking of flipping cars on the side now that I am getting mechanically capable and gathered a lot of tools. But what I am not sure is how to get cars and good price so I can keep my overhead. I am one of those people who sometimes over spend on cars and fall for quality and brand. Does anyone here flip cars ?
