  1. This may be a MY change, but both these centre consoles are from '08 ISFs. Anyone know why there's a difference? The buttons are a different shape, but is there a difference in the actual hardware behind? Mine's the top pic.
  2. Ouch. Good luck, but I've a feeling this is about to get expensive...
  3. It's very easy to get sucked into chasing numbers with this sort of car. I personally, couldn't care less whether the ISF/RCF/etc has 400bhp or 600bhp. The difference on the road will be negligible and after a track day at Silverstone which is a big power circuit , I would suggest not massively important there either. It's all in the balance and the delivery. That being said, the ZL1 is supposed to be rather good!
  4. I've not heard of this for the ISF, but had to have a recall done on the fuel pressure sensor on my old GS450h...
  5. Well, I've got mine booked in for an MOT and the airbag to be sorted on the 18th Oct at the Hedge End dealership. Let's hope they do a good job - they've always been brilliant in the past.
  6. I take it the whole procedure went smoothly? I've got to book in for an MOT very soon, so I'll talk to them about it then. I use the Hedge End dealership, if it makes any difference.
  7. Just had my recall letter through - has anyone had theirs done yet? (I saw the thread about damage during the process...)
  8. Are you going for drilled discs again, or grooved? Great videos!
  9. Regarding the brakes, you either keep your foot on the brake and bury the throttle, the theory being that the power will overcome the rear brakes (not particularly powerful, but will cook them!), and the car will be held stationary by the front brakes whilst wheel spinning. Some cars however will not register the throttle input whilst braking, for safety reasons (when people panic during an emergency stop and stamp on all the pedals at the same time), although I'm not sure about the ISF? The other way is to install a Line Lock. Essentially it isolates the front brakes from the rears. You keep the front brakes locked, you bury the throttle and spin the rears. The new Mustangs have this feature, so perfect for a trip down to the shops! I'd love to have a go at Santa Pod on a Run what ya Brung day!
  10. I suppose mine does this a bit too. It used to creak (solved by tightening the bolts you mentioned on the front and back of the seat rails), but there's still a bit of movement. I'd assumed I was carrying a bit extra holiday weight...
  11. Am I right in thinking the E34 M5s were the last of the hand-built "big sixes"? Might contribute to the asking price, but it's still rather steep!
  12. I'd previously read this. Given the ride on my '08 is pretty good (albeit with '13 springs and struts - an upgrade I cannot recommend enough, and a straight swap), I'm not willing to risk going back to the bone jarring ride I had before. I don't seem to suffer from inner tyre wear at the moment either. I had a full geo done a year or so ago at a place with a Hunter laser alignment which seems to have been worth the time and money. I don't think there's too much adjustment for camber on the stock setup, plus the car is quite nose heavy which tends to push towards negative camber. Good luck with the group buy. It'd be nice to hear your opinions.
  13. Doesn't matter what it costs. Don't bankrupt yourself, obviously, but If it's affordable (to you) and worth it (to you), do it! Life's too short! ...and post a video up here! I think they look and sound cracking!
  14. This was the guy: http://www.gibsonautomotiveupholstery.co.uk He's based in Chandler's Ford, just outside Southampton. A pleasure to deal with. The job cost £100. If any of you are thinking about having this done, there's a very handy video on YouTube showing how to dismantle the centre console to get the arm rest off the car. It's not a *massive* job, but care needs to be taken to keep all the little plastic tabs in one piece! https://youtu.be/WXgTBn8MHZ0
  15. I'd love to have it carbon-fibre'd. Going to put the feelers out to see if any company nearby can help. I've read it's extremely hard to get a decent colour match - the existing stuff is slightly tinged with yellow. It's definitely not silver. One or two people online have managed it, but I'm. It even sure if they're in UK. The standard black plastic looks a bit cheap! Anyone know if I'm allowed to post a link? I'm not a gold member or selling anything, if that matters..
  16. Well, I decided to go ahead with alcantara. I still have no idea if the centre console to a '13/14 would fit, but I found a great, local guy to do the retrimming work. I'm stunned - fantastic quality work and exactly what I was after. I'll be using him again in the future! (Mods: Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to his website?) Anyway, here are some before and after shots:
  17. My wife loves her RX450! She thinks the ISF is too loud, too harsh and too fast. What a girl!
  18. The join is roughly between the axles, underneath the front seats, that sort of location.
  19. Mine has this. It blows a tiny bit from the join when cold, then seals properly when warm; presumably once everything has heated up and expanded. I've had an exhaust place and my main dealer take a look at it. Both were a little stumped. I think it would require quite a lot of fettling to get the current system off to refit it. Also, I think the paste they used to seal the gap between the stock section and the H&S isn't the usual stuff. You can't mix them, so even more difficult. I live ages away from H&S, so not worth the trip to get them to sort it. Next time I've got the car jacked up, I'll have a go at tightening what I think are jubilee-style clips (not actually looked closely yet), joining the two. This might help a bit. It doesn't really bother me, but makes a 10/10 product into a 9.5/10. Oh, that and the exhaust tips need small holes drilling to let the rainwater out. A small lake forms in each one, that's blasted up the side of the house when I start the engine!
  20. I had considered this but not too sure about the durability of alcantara (may only be an issue on steering wheels with very heavy use...). Also, if I decide I don't like it, I can revert to the old leather lid. If I really like it, I could probably sell the other?.. This is the problem after you've sat in a GSF - the detailing on the interior is stunning! I want one so much but the numbers just aren't doable at present! I like the sunglasses holder option!
  21. All, I'd like to replace my leather centre console lid with an alcantara one. I believe the part number is 58905-53120-C0 , which was standard on the 2014 ISF (could anyone clarify this?), but only US sites appear to sell them online. I've been in contact with one site, but they're unable to tell me if it's a direct leather replacement, or the alcantara until, essentially, it arrives through my letterbox... Has anybody else bought one? I may have to pop along to my local dealers next week to see if they can help....
