  1. I've never driven a newer ISF with the mechanical LSD, but having owned my '08 for almost 2yrs now, also having done a track day at Silverstone with it in the sopping wet, I can't say I'm bothered not having one. It certainly performed as well as I could drive to, and I wasn't hanging about! I swapped the suspension springs and dampers from the stock '08 to the '13 variants and noticed a *slight* improvement in ride quality. Not massive, but enough to take the edge off. Personally, I'd save the extra money and either put it towards a GSF/RCF, or buy a second car - light, agile, something far more suited to a few track days a year :-)
  2. I went from a 3rd gen GS450h to an ISF... GS was probably faster in many situations. The 370(?)bhp available nearly instantly and the acceleration on the motorway was stunning. The ISF is more nimble and faster only once wound up above 4-5000rpm... Both are great cars, ISF has more 'character' though, imo. I'd buy my old GS back in a heartbeat and own both if I could!
  3. I found the standard pads to be fine on track. That being said, I'd like to give Ferodo DS2500s a go next time, just for a little more initial bite; I don't know if they're available in the right size though.
  4. Not one of the random clips in my collection, sorry. I'm sure the local dealer will have them though.
  5. Have you tried taking the DVD out and seeing if the disc is ok? NB: take front off clock panel before pressing eject!!
  6. Got a photo of the type of clip you mean? I've got a tub of various trim clips - I could post one out to you...
  7. You've beaten me to updating my other thread...! I'll do a big post when I get chance - a Lexus is the perfect way to go to Le Mans... (Two small tasters of the Mulsanne after the race finished and the gendarmes got out of the way. A full speed blast round a deserted Indianapolis and Arnage was a tick off my bucket list as well...)
  8. A relatively poor effort on the sticker front, but cleaned, polished and ready to roll! Due to the new EU mobile roaming laws, handily coming into effect two days before the race, I'll be able to upload some photos of the trip without having to remortgage the house! Let the packing commence!
  9. Ferrari 348/355. Mainly for the beauty, but also the noise - proper, spine-tingling stuff! https://youtu.be/8qSK1i5NSFk Prices beginning to go into orbit now!
  10. The guy who previously owned my car installed a Takeda intake, but told me the sound, although slightly better, wasn't massively different from standard. I guess you just lose the effect of the second intake opening halfway through the rev range, so the difference is mainly sub-3500rpm? For some more noise, he also ended up installing a H&S cat-back system, which is... biblical! I'm more or less the most offensive, noisy car on the road (besides some of you lot!!). From cold, the car starts with a harsh bark, settling quickly into a woofling idle. As the revs increase, it sounds kind of like a C63 AMG before the full NASCAR crescendo. I love it. The wife possibly finds it a bit embarrassing... The Takeda does have a tendency to lose bhp, but only 10 or so, and only on a very hot day - you'd only ever notice it on a dyno. If you're chasing numbers, I've read the RR Racing intake is one of the best; but being NA the gains will be pretty small...
  11. Driven lots of times. It's not bad - got some fast bits, and some windy bits. I've never stopped at Loomies as it's always swamped by bikers. Careful with the speed on the A272 - there can be quite a police presence some days...
  12. Interesting about the courtesy car charge - I don't pay a penny, never have. Zero excess too. Nice to to hear about a good dealership network though!
  13. Hedge End. For the last 4 years and 3 Lexus cars, they've been faultless. I know experiences by some have been less than exemplary... Reminds me of the recent Top Gear review putting the GSF against the M5. The M5 had about 150bhp more, and trying to deploy 600bhp through the rear wheels was an excercise in futility. The car was constantly being reigned in by the traction control and stability gubbins. Even in the ISF with 415(?) bhp on a slightly damp race track, I had wheelspin in 3rd at 90-95mph. I would suggest that indicates power output is sufficient! I'm also impressed by the dual-personality of the car. You can waft or go total hooligan!
  14. The relative anonymity, the engineering attention to detail, reliability, helpful and pleasant main dealer, and the noise! The rarity is a nicety too, as is the speed.
  15. Doesn't seem lowered... other than that, I can't make anything else out... Jack the car up, try turning the wheel and have a look? Although this may not reveal too much as the suspension won't be compressed...
  16. Got a photo? Seems very odd behaviour on stock sizes...
  17. I really don't think they know... I spoke to Lexus a few months ago, who put my VIN into their computer and said the recall didn't affect me, despite me having a letter telling me the opposite!? I just hope after ripping the dashboard to pieces I don't end up with squeaks/creaks/rattles!
  18. Have you bought one of the RR-Racing OBD remap devices then? Would love to know what kind of difference it makes! Looking forward to a review!
  19. Absolutely true. High performance pads have a higher ratio of iron or other metallics in their makeup. This will give you metal-on-metal a bit more against the discs when you brake and you'll get more noise/squeal. Ive not noticed this on the standard pads on the ISF, but my S2000 track car (DS2500 and DS3000 pads) suffers badly if I've done a few gentle drives. Finding a small open stretch of road and burying the brake pedal at the end of it solves the problem for 10-15 more miles. You may be able to mitigate the effect a small amount by putting a bit more copper grease on the backs of the brake pads, but with fast road/sport/race pads it's pretty much a 'feature of the system' and doesn't affect braking action in any way. Listen to touring cars and other track beasts to really hear brake squeal - it's normal! I believe the Millennials would say #becauseracecar or something.
  20. Viper. Wanted one since they came out when I was 8 years old!
  21. Careful, guys - that's about 4% of the entire country's ISF supply! Have a great time!
  22. The fuse method (Google it) doesn't lose your settings for the electric windows, seats, radio etc. It just resets the ECU for the engine and the gearbox.
  23. Oof! All whilst getting double the fuel economy of the ISF too... the shame!
  24. I wouldn't get hung up on the LSD. Mine hasn't got one (08) and I did a track day at Silverstone in the wet - it was great fun!!
