Mark,
Does it really need a new caliper or are the pins seized and can be freed off?
Lexus always replace the caliper but members on here have a go at freeing off the pins, regreasing and then refitting.

I have this problem on my car and I find it very distracting. This may be an age thing too. Us oldies have much more crud floating about in the eye which makes things worse.
I was hoping to find a product which made the binnacle matt instead of shiny. I haven't found anything yet. I don't do many miles and the number of days this happens is small so it hasn't been a high priority. I bet somebody on this list knows a good product.....

James,
Others will answer your first three queries but I agree about the headrest. I had a loan GS300h whilst my car was in for service and I had to remove the headrest to be able to drive. I mentioned it to the salesman when I retuned the car but he seemed not to get the point. He was not a tall person though so perhaps it was OK for him.
I have the same problem with several of the new range. My Mk2 and Mk3 GSs were fine. The Mk4 is so bad that I would not buy one.
Does the headrest in the Mk 450h move automatically according to the seat settings? The Mk3 does but I have not seen this mention in Lexus literature.

Welcome to the forum where everyone is kind.
Can you check the voltage on your new and old batteries? My experience of these button cells is that sometimes they are flat even when straight out of the packet. A good "3V" cell should be 3.3V or more when new.

Found my invoice! I bought from car-masts-uk in Chelmsford. It was item code 360518336788 for LS400, LS430, GS300 and RX300and cost £18.65 with £1.75 postage in 2014. Service was excellent. No connection. See
I too bought a ~£15 aerial mast off eBay for my Mk2 GS300. There are videos on YouTube about how to fit and usually it is very easy. In my case the plastic cogged drive strip had broken leaving a bit inside the motor drive assembly. This meant removing the drive to open it up and remove the broken bit. Still an easy repair though it took a bit longer.
Am I the only one to be astonished by this list of weak spots for an 11 or 12 year old car?
Callipers - avoid by regular servicing with proper lubricants. Don't know why it is not a service item.
Exhaust - I don't know what is reasonable. My A35 van had a new exhaust every 367 days.
Shock absorbers - agreed could be better component and preferably from more than one source.
Creaking dash - some car owners would love a car quiet enough to hear a creak. I understand draught-excluder stuffed down gap fixes it.
Headlight bulb - new bulbs after 11 years unreasonable? They have probably lost output even if they haven't failed.
Rust - covered by warranty?
TPMS - units failed or just need new batteries? See Bitprius thread on how to do it.
Hybrid - everybody seems to worry at first but the reality is that failures are rare and as above Richard will fix problems.
Could any other manufacturer match the brevity of this list?

Be sure to get the right lubricants. See http://proslip.com and buy from https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProSlip-Brake-Caliper-Grease-Kit/dp/B07886FP12/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521636072&sr=8-1&keywords=proslip&dpID=41tq1w8VYXL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch. Notice the promotion code LEX6YOU6 which seller did for LOC but now seems available to all!

I too had slow leak on NSF. My tyre place always cleans the rims before fitting tyres and leak has now gone with new front tyres.
Tyre place recommends spraying round base of valves with WD40 occasionally so that when you go for tyres so the valves can be removed easily.

Indeed! English not good either.
My understanding of the extended warranty is that the car is checked over by Lexus dealer and if OK can be put on extended warranty. I did not realise that the dealer needed to be the seller as well. Perhaps just not enough profit for them despite fact that you might take the car to them for service which is profitable.
John
I agree with Odysseus. Wait for late 08 car or later on which you can still get two year extended warranty.
They are worth the wait and I understand you can wait with present car.

Sandro,
The charger on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Solar-Powered-Car-Battery-Charger/dp/B00AC1LLQY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1523038911&sr=8-3&keywords=solar+battery+charger+car connects to the battery either by croc clips or by a plug into the OBD port (just under the steering column). This latter connection is easy and the charger could then lay under the front window. The cables look as if they are long enough for panel to sit on rear shelf if that would be better. Have you got somebody who could do this whilst you are away?
There maybe somebody in LOC near you who could do it. (I'm too far away or I would.)
John
Can you leave a solar trickle charger connected? I've seen this suggested on one of the forums here.
Look up "solar charger for car batteries" on Amazon. Couple of hits at the top are Prime so you would get it on Saturday.

Some bargaining points?
Tyres may well disintegrate (My daughter bought a pristine car that had spent a long time doing very few miles. All four tyres failed spectacularly about a week in.)

What is the number plate worth?
Those 15k miles have cost about £40,000!
