  1. I could be interested in the NC500 if it happens (and assuming non IS-F drivers would be welcome) - schedule and SWMBO permitting :) There's big thread on PH relating to this, may be worth perusing for info and advice. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=118&t=1569491
  2. Thats a shame. You have checked the menu settings? it is possible to turn off voice commands in the menu - worth checking if not sure.
  3. Have you just purchased the car with this fault or has it just stopped working recently? As we are essentially talking about a computer problem, I would be inclined to try 'turn if off/on again' by either a) remove / re-insert the SatNav Disc - this may cause the system to reset itself and fix the problem (you will need the two pointy things from the toolkit to insert into the holes in the dashboard to eject the disc) b) disconnect the negative terminal on the car battery and leave off for a couple of minutes, then reconnect. You will need to reset the reverse camera setup and the electric windows afterwards but that's not difficult You don't have to worry about a radio code so b) is probably the easiest way to go. hope this helps
  4. Congrats on your new car, looks a very tidy example. You've even got the Mark Levinson stereo as well. Welcome to the club :)
  5. Shiny black paint + Sunny day Does look nice though!
  6. I've got baransu's on my IS and I think they really suit the car. Mine are in serious need of a refurb though :(
  7. I had this dilemma when I bought my IS250 earlier this year. On the one hand the Lexus warranty has a generally good rep when it comes to accepting claims (although there have been some exceptions discussed on these forums) in contrast to some stories one hears about with after-market warranty companies. Against that was the possibility of needing something expensive - like a new exhaust - which wouldn't be covered under the warranty, and also the need to use Lexus for servicing. On balance I decided to take the risk and put the cash I would have spent on the warranty aside for any exceptional expense and to save on servicing by going to an independent. So far so good - touch wood - the only expenses I have had so far are ones that wouln't have been covered in any case - brakes and a battery, plus a leaking joint that only cost about £100 to get replaced.
  8. I needed a new 12v battery not long after I'd bought my IS250. Went to Halfords and they offered to fit a suitable replacement for an extra £10 so I thought why not.... They were a joke, obviously inexperienced and unprofessional and tried to fit the wrong type of battery and then found they didn't have the right model in stock. In a similar vein, I get my IS250 serviced by a branch of the same group that owns the local Toyota and Lexus franchises, in fact it did used to be the local Lexus dealership until they moved to a posh business park nearby but now it sells used cars and does servicing and bodywork. Been very happy so far with service and value.
  9. Merry Xmas everyone and best wishes for 2017
  10. Well that sounds like a good result and shows the value of buying through the dealer network and you've still got the reassurance of the warranty should you need it. How are you getting on with dashboard noises? I can't imagine it's worse than an old Golf
  11. How similar are the internals of the Avensis mirrors to the Lexus? Any pictures?
  12. I've had the occasional acknowledgment but not often If I see you I will give you a wave..
  13. I've got some LOC stickers in the post after I joined with the black friday discount. Need to get around to putting them in the car. Just need to decide where to put them......
  14. I changed batteries in both of mine not long after I purchased the car. One wasn't wasn't working and the other was a bit hit-n-miss (although I now think this was due to interference from my mobile phone) No problems at all since....
  15. Thanks for replying, I wasn't sure if there should be a horizontal movement on start-up so thanks for confirming that. I believe that speed and steering angle are involved which is why you can't see them move while manouvering for example.
  16. My IS250 SE-L is supposed to have AFS but I'm not sure they're working. AFS is enabled in the menu system but I can't see any change in beam pattern when driving along winding country lanes at night. On startup, my headlights self-level - they go up and down, but there's no side to side movement - should there be?
  17. I don't know if you got sorted out but there is plenty of info on the forum about the wing mirrors and the motors A squirt of WD-40 will normally fix them but if you do need a new motor then there is a close equivalent (we don't know the specification of the OEM motor but it's probably not that different) that is available on Amazon and Ebay quite cheaply - search for FC-140RE. My passenger side mirror has stopped working again (after a squirt of WD-40 a few months ago) so I will try a new motor and see if that's a better fix
  18. Oh that's interesting, in that case I will have to try the foam insert fix to see if that does cure my rattle
  19. I have this brake 'groan' as well, very noticeable if your holding/releasing the brakes on an incline. Irritating but otherwise I love my Lexus :)
  20. My model year is 2007. I don't appear to have either the dashboard rattle or the dashboard crack problem. What I do have is a rattle from the upward facing speaker in the centre of the dash and even then only when I'm on poor road surfaces.
  21. Nice looking motor, love the two tone interiors on these DRL are unusual
  22. If anybody else wants winter tyres, there's some for sale on the forum..... just thought I'd mention it
  23. Fitted a set of winter tyres yesterday, 245/40/R18 all round... unfortunately the fronts were catching at times (turning right but not when turning left?) So it's back to the standard wheels for now.
  24. Just bear in mind that you need to have car serviced at Lexus in order for the warranty to be valid. Otherwise, I'd agree £500 for two years including breakdown cover is a very good deal.
