Having fancied a Nissan Cube for a few years (stop laughing!!) I was lifted by reading that there was an electric one! Denki. There's clip on Youtube. But they never followed up on the concept. The comment on range is valid. It only takes 5 mins to get -say - a weeks supply of fuel, not a 5 hour+ charge. I guess the answer might be changeable/plug-in batteries (copyright me!) except that they are rather LARGE to run a car. Twizys all round? As long as there's an electric hearse, I'm not too bothered! I'll be gone.

And, taking Blues' point, if they need contactless charging, that's even MORE costly! Imagine great huge plates set into the street. No, it's back to walking with only the rich owning cars! Though I guess the possible answer to the Urban street hassle is that folk need reliable bus services? And no car expense.

I guess, once electric cars come in, there'll be a digital choice of pretend exhaust noise. Minis like Mustangs?

Why change? It's not compulsory to keep moving on. You might regret it. if your car is running well, stick.

My neighbours Jag was given up on, by Jag. The electrics went awol in heat and they couldn't fix it at all! Stick with the proved quality. the grass ISN'T greener, just because the pressure of ads to change invades your brain?

Hah! That reminds me of my long-haired youth in the 60s. The Barber immortalised in the Beatles 'Penny Lane' used to stand outside his shop. It was on my way to work (Bus depot-Penny Lane- I was a Conductor) and he'd see me coming...."Mamma Mia" he'd exclaim at my flowing auburn locks! Where did that colour go? Luckily for me the HAIR is still here.

Bristol has a well advertised 'Poo bus' running from Refuse-produced Methane. But, as I type, there's a 15+ mile jam on the M5 down the hill.......which then backs up the anciliary roads......so it matters little. I know the back lanes.........

Factor in lack of pricy repairs and it's cheap for the supreme luxury! e.g. my neighbour's Audi S10-over £2K recently for nothing much.

'easier to get in"! A good reason (not your cause, though!). Cars SHOULD be easy to enter-+ comfy to be in! I get ridiculed for liking Nissan Cubes, but...try getting into one and driving. Space; no ducking head away from the narrow (fasion-before utility) sloped A post. Space around you, rather than peering through a 'pill-box' slit. Glass all around. My old Citroen DSs were equally easy. As we inevitably get older and less flexible, it's vital.

Seem to recall that Brasso works on lights....but don't quote me! Someone DID post a series of posts on this on here somewhere (are you there?) The SC430 is a sleeper, I'd say. Seems to have the same quailty as LS. Was never quite sure about the looks and not a fan of open tops, but I can appreciate it. Always thought the (Non) back seats were silly. Neil E (I think) fron SC430 section has put in a stupendous hi-fi in this space. I was sorely tempted to buy his car just for that - being a hi-fi fan (before I decided to 'downsize' and drive small, simple car.) The best SC was the Ser 2 version that came in JUST BEFORE the tax rate changed (from £250 to £500, I think) Cruise about in character!

Those 'perfect car' non-descriptions are appalling! I should have sold you my recently departed Citroen XM 3 litre car which WAS near perfect! I guess people who are less particular than us hard-core Lex folk have got in on our discovery finally. You'll have to find that rare 'one aged driver/always garaged' etc., car. Good luck. (The SC430 club best when looking for those?)
