  1. Graphite wheels? Won't they just look mucky? Each to his/her own. Still got a set of DS23 hubcaps in loft-when cars HAD hubcaps! Though I seem to recall the Citroen SM (1970-5) had graphite (the material, not the colour) wheels. (Thinks; WAS it graphite......?)....no, Carbon fibre! https://jalopnik.com/michelin-made-carbon-fiber-wheels-for-citroen-back-in-1-1543922374
  2. Wrong tyres! Amazing. At Costco, they refused to fit -Michelins!! - on our Micra because of the rating. Not on a hyper-car, a MICRA! Good to hear you can now fit in a car easily. Comfort/ease of access vital when you're +50 (ahem....) My reason for looking at Nissan Cubes! And RX350s-lpg - on here. Comfort! (Sez the ex owner of 4 Citroen DSs)
  3. If you don't mind only 2WD, it's cheap? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-TOYOTA-HARRIER-LEXUS-RX300-3-0-V6-PETROL-LPG/282924223886?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3Dee1b8e1b013d45b78455161de3c6e0e1%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D173229152942%26itm%3D282924223886&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
  4. Politician? Maybe just the Civil Servants who recommend these things to 'increase revenue'
  5. Love it. I've just leant about greasing pins! I recall my old Citroen DS was so front-brake oriented that the rears sometimes seized for lack of use-you had to remember at MOT time! Memories of driving barefoot with just big toe operating the brake BUTTON!
  6. I've got some old French plates I took off my 2CV van, in 1979..........still in my garage...... John-where abouts are you? I lived near Ronda for 6 months in '93. Have driven there in both a Jeep Cherokee and a Citroen CX 2500.
  7. Contentment -almost! Little niggles are annoying! I had tyre hassles and (more than one) tyre centres little help. You're too far away from Tony Bones to get a full car set-up, though I'm guessing the 'Hunter system' must be something on those lines? enjoy. (Mullins in Gloucester are good.) Have you considered getting lpg fitted? Enjoy Skye; I've been tempted by an RX350 lpg car that's up near Arran-want to collect it for me? (-:
  8. France seems ahead of us (surprised?). Paris has a fleet of EV cars (with super capacitors to extend range0 and they want to ensure all charging points are 'universal'. I recall in the (19!)70s that France were investing heavily in Atomic power, whilst Britain frittered away its Oil bonanza £££s.
  9. This week's 'Observer' car bit mentions the author's wish for an E Type Jag as his 'dream' car. I had mine early! (Citroen DS23, in 81). Currently? well, I've had the DS, but maybe a Mehari. ds garden.bmp
  10. Until 'tomorrow'? !! I once left wax on .....over winter! Was LOVELY when taken off! (On a Dyane!)
  11. Simple concept, really. The amount of ads (looking at RX350s) that have mucky/worn carpets in pictures. Would add ££s to perceived value. 'Deep pile'? Just put some rubber underlay beneath?
  12. I reckon, with a sewing machine that can do heavy duty edging, you could make special custom mats! Your name in silver/gold thread, etc.? My DS 23 in 70s had lovely deep squishy carpets. So some shag-pile?
  13. John. She does say 'local dealer unable to solve the problem'! But I agree in general. Perhaps I should give up NOT having a Lex and take it off their hands......(-: (But I want an lpg car.) Good luck-it CAN be fixed!
  14. I tried this out in a big field once. There was a line of cars parked neatly alongside the entry; I parked a long way away in the MIDDLE of the space. Sure enough, when I came back there were 3 cars lined up besides mine! Surrounded by empty space! Baaaa!
  15. Me too, even after nearly 10 years Lexus-free! There's an lpg RX350 in Scotland I was tempted by (anyone know it?) but that's nearly 8 hours drive (could fly up.....) lpg seems the way to go with a 350.
  16. How many front doors/windows are easily 'accessed'? I see quite a few doors that merely have Yale locks (do they meet insurers' requirements?) Toughened glass and solid-framed, multi-lever locks essential? Agree re having some kind of immobility gizmo built in. But it IS crazy to have £50K+ asset sitting in the street.
  17. 'Terrorist paranoia', yet most of their 'terrorist' activities involve shootings by.....white WASP guys! Funny; the US have spent decades invading/subverting other countries, yet they wonder why folk should hate them/want to retaliate! Apart from New Mexico and-maybe SF, I'm happy never to return. En route to NZ, we go via Canada to avoid the US. It's a failed state really. Sail to Costa Rica too.
  18. There's a string on the RX pages about how to replace the cells; Lexus charge about £2K!! But the process takes about 7 days (not continuously!), one has to let the new cells gradually reach voltage-it seems. Add to having to dismantle a lot of the back interior of the car.....
  19. Having just waded through a string about duff batteries/replacement of, on the GS section, it'd be interesting to know just how detailed the Lexus hybrid health check is. It seems that a single cell failure can stop the whole car, plus the copper contacts can corrode. The fix is thousands with Lexus, or several careful days DIY. The car LOOKS wonderful -tempting me back to Lexus maybe......the complexity deters though. Still, having just seen one with 260K miles, for sale.......
  20. Always reminds me (he said again....) of the old 2CV ad that promised no features, and said 'Nothing to go wrong' at the bottom! Just been reading up on these with the same combination of 'want one/scared of the complexity' mixed emotions. I had thought I was 'over' Lexuses, but......(AND its a hybrid)
  21. So.....I have to pay NOT to see stuff? (Yes, I get that ads pay for content....)
