  1. Some folks have been known to remove the sensors from the wheels and fit them into a pressurised box, tucked away somewhere in the boot. But if you don't have TPMS button on the underside of both front footwell panels, then presumably your car didn't come with TPMS. FYI: TPMS button locations on my GS are like this (except mines right hand drive); Reference, from an ES.
  2. Hi Roger, welcome to the forum. Well done ordering an RC, when it is scheduled to arrive? What colour/spec did you choose? Cheers, Lee
  3. The port may have a cover that's disguising it. Mine had a black sleeve/cap that slid off.
  4. @mike m, well done being proactive and looking into fixing the rattles/squeaks. Chafing can be very annoying... Those V clips are a pain, had some ping around my head when I was under the dash. @rich1068, good reminder of lexus.7zap.com - it's a great resource, that shows alternative suppliers and part#s
  5. What's going on with AF, they used to be the go-to broker but recently their prices seem to have shot up. Not just on this forum either
  6. Looks like you had a busy weekend, well done. I'd have rather been spannerin' but alas I was decorating.
  7. My last car had cruise but didnt show what it was set to, so the GS isn't that unusual. I see your point about resuming cruise without knowing what it's set to. I'm already in the habit of resetting it most times it's enabled, so it's not an issue.
  8. Well done. It's a shame that the tool didn't fit so well but thankfully it seated sufficiently to get enough purchase. I ordered one the other day, will see how that fits mine. What filter did you use? Does anyone know if Lexus are fickle and prefer a particular make?
  9. Why would you want to see a duplication of what the speedo reads? Have you seen this 'feature' somewhere else? What makes you wonder why the Lexus doesn't have it?
  10. Very nice Mark, very nice indeed. A great colour too
  11. Well done and enjoy getting familiar with your new to you steed. The battery meter can be topped out braking lightly down a long steep hill or too. I get a full battery shown when over in Yorkshire or Derbyshire but rarely around here. When showing a full charge my car has a good bit more oomph off the line and runs for longer on battery. My line stays on battery power longer if you have it set on Normal. Sport or PWR will rarely see battery only motion. Also keep in mind that the battery meter isnt a true representation of the actual battery bank, it shows something like 40 to 80% actual battery charge. In reality you don't need to worry about it.
  12. Hi John. Yes, I have the same car and that's how we occasionally use the AUX input socket within the armrest. Well that's what mrsF does whilst I drive, I get the fun job Cheers, Lee
  13. Good shout Robert as I nearly bought a filter tool last week, then noticed the option of the filter drain and subsequently got distracted with something else. Interweb threads recommend getting a tool that doesn't just pickup on the flats but also to the locating teeth deeper down the housing. The tool is 14 flats at 64.5mm right?
  14. So you can maintain quite a high/steady lick on battery alone, impressive. That's not just coasting or going downhill then? Excited for you Malcolm, you lucky lucky so and so.
  15. Looks very smart, thanks for sharing.
  16. Hehe, I had to look it up; is the permanent indentation of a hard surface https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brinellinghttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brinelling
  17. I recall that the Toyota's v12 was a one off and exclusive to the JDM limo. Wasn't it even the only Japanese v12 ever made?
  18. Hi Robert, I tried Purity X polymer sealant a few weeks back and it sheds water pretty well. My side windows cleared pretty easily the other day, just needed a bit of air flow. I'm still experimenting and haven't put it through a few washes yet but it seemed to do a good job after the detailers used it earlier this year. After washing it was applied all over the car via a lance and rinsed straight off, so it's really easy to apply to paint/glass/etc. It needs topping up every 3-4 weeks but only uses a small amount so I hope the teeny bottle lasts a good while.
  19. I should have know really shouldn't I, duh! Did I miss the How To guide somewhere? [emoji6] How's space in the engine bay for plumbing in the bottle? I really must get a good look around mine at some point. If only the household DIY would let up #sigh On a related yet somewhat off topic note, I've always fancied fitted an engine pre heater. I worked through a few Swedish winters and loved their warm car tech. Although we don't tend to get too many really cold days over here to warrant fitting them, I've still got the itch.It wouldn't surprise me if John has already cooked up a whiz bang kit for his GS
  20. John@Britprius, which pre lube system did you use? I had a very quick scan yesterday and mainly found suppliers in the US.
  21. Haha, that gear knob could take your eye out! It does look sad in the pic's, almost looks like it crying for help...
  22. Welcome to the forum Sandro. It looks like you've acquired a very low mileage steed. When do you pick it up?
  23. Yes, the gen3 Hybrid GS has a smaller trunk than the non Hybrid but we've been able to work around that without any major hassle, there are just the two of us. We've made a few trips to the continent, last week we were away in north Yorkshire and easily get a couple of cases/etc in the boot. This summer we took more than enough clobber for 2 weeks (we always seem to take too much gear) and just put a few bits on the back seat. We weren't packed to the roof line either! I too was a little worried about storage and bought a roof rack early on but other than trial fitting it hasn't been brought into use. If you have kids or are more than 2 up then I suspect you might need additional stowage space and I may to get/rent a roof box at some point.
  24. Welcome to the forum Dougie. I had a similar decision earlier this year and opted to 'take the plunge' and purchase my GS 450H. I have had no regrets and enjoy the car every time we use it. The cars are pretty well made and I think the hybrid, large engine and CVT all contribute to an unstressed and generally reliable steed. The cars are packed full of tech tho so you are wise to be prepared for the possibility of a big bill. The likelihood of an expensive repair are pretty low tho compared to other marks. Don't worry too much about the Hybrid element, Toyota/Lexus have had years to make the system pretty robust. Lexis dealers can provide an annual warranty on the Hybrid components on cars up to 10 years old. This is done as part of the service or can be purchased separately for around £70 if you service the vehicle elsewhere. Battery's can also be repaired by established independents e.g. check Hybrid Battery Solutions. The dampers are prone to leak and the exhausts rot at the rear most Y section (visible from the rear bumper) and/or rear mufflers. Hunt around for a well looked after car and I would hope that you would enjoy many miles of happy motoring. Good luck.
