  1. That's a great feature and subtly highlights excess speed. I've not seen it in my built-in nav's but they're all old. However on my phone, Sygic does the same thing.
  2. Crumbs John, you don't need that on a day out. As already mentioned, thankfully it didn't jam underneath the car. Do you recall that my zoorst was recently blowing at the rear of the Y AND it had a couple of big holes in the OS muffler. These sailed through the MOT and my pet indi said he wasn't surprised it passed, provided it wasn't noisy #facepalm Your quote for a new rear section is high. For near that price I also got the middle/cats renewed/fitted. Good luck getting it sorted buddy.
  3. Interesting, did the dealer make the offer? How can they say that the dampers have no history of failure? That's simply not right.
  4. Looks great, well done It doesn't look to be too much lower than the bumper either.
  5. Good shout, I hadn't seen this dealer before and as you say they have quite a few Lexus. Has anyone used them before?
  6. Here's some vids of GS 300's they've had previously https://www.youtube.com/user/tommyzoo/search?query=gs+300 Might help to keep your spirits up ol'chap
  7. Ah, yes it's very annoying when you make the effort and a vehicle isn't as described. Car hunting can prove to be costly, not just in £'s but also in time as the hours travelling back and forth can soon rack up. The internet and vids help a great deal tho, I wonder what BMC have available at the moment? - they do good walk around vids/test drives, albeit a bit 'samey'. Update: no GS, IS or LS unfortunately. http://www.bmcspecialistcars.co.uk/used-cars/search-results?make=LEXUS&model=IS+250&vehicleType=cars
  8. The link works, thanks. Looks straight enough, the interior looks well too. As you say, the MOT history looks fine - just worn tyres and weak handbrake reported. I wonder why it's been reduced by £500, not had many viewings? It's not too far from you, is surely worth a look.
  9. Could you get a generic remote that learns the device? Or maybe even use your phone if it has an IR transmitter built in e.g. LG.
  10. Good spec, low mileage, FDSH so it's ticking the right boxes. What's the link? Have you checked the MOT history? They can often be revealing...
  11. Some new sites for me to check out later Along with some of the above I regularly scan Speedhunters. Yesterday there were some great pics posted from Pikes Peak PistonHeads. Then an occasional peek at Petrolicious can yield some great vid's/sounds.
  12. If there's no obvious button then is the option hid away in a menu somewhere, like this http://www.lexomans.com/manguide-653.html
  13. That sucks. Get an independent inspection for sure, as I'd want to verify that the dealer aren't trying to 'pull a fast one'. Parts tend to typically only come with a years warranty but you'd expect better of Lexus.
  14. Now I'm back at my PC, I just found this model specific list; http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/5-buying-a-gs300-series-ii-what-to-look-for/ Hope it helps. PS: Lexus alloys tend to have weak paint that can bubble/flake off.
  15. Welcome to the forum David. As the vehicle is over 10 years old I would pay attention to the exhaust to ensure it's not rotted out. My GS has a Y piece at the rear that you can see looking under the rear bumper, it's a common place to split and blow. One rear silencer had a couple of big holes that passed an MOT and didn't sound noisy. An OEM replacement exhaust has an eye watering cost so I got an aftermarket unit replacement. Dampers are known to leak with frustrating regularity on my model, so definitely worth checking on yours. It's good that your potential buy has a clean MOT history, that's encouraging. Good luck in your quest and do let us know how you get on.
  16. That looks like a tidy job, well done Do you have any recording of the valve in operation? Just out of curiosity, where have you positioned the activation switch?
  17. Cool find Paul / @Big Rat, the sound, oh the sound...it's...angry
  18. Robert / @KayCee, thanks for the info that's been very helpful. The 1-use clips are a pain tho. I'm surprised the dealer was so helpful and provided a cost effective solution, result FYI: the pic above isn't of my car Mine only had a small kick up at the rear, so I guess just one clip is busted.
  19. Pretty much, this thread has a good PDF showing the differences http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/91640-differences-in-se-l-spec-before-and-after-2008-for-gs450h/?do=findComment&comment=875047
  20. Dacia top of the list, really? My uncles derv Duster dumped it's oil twice, causing a seized engine that needed replacing
  21. Excellent, glad you found yourself a nice steed. I'm still looking into this Techstream malarky myself but as it's so cheap it's gotta be worth a punt.
