  1. Hi rob how much you asking? What colour is the car and interior? Does it have the optional ml system and sunroof? Any pics for us nosy people? Sounds a good is250, might tempt the op to buy yours.
  2. Hi fuller30, you will love a Lexus when you are in one. Best car I ever had, the se-l trim level is superb for an older car. I have an is220d, love the car but hate the engine. Try and find an is250 even if you have to travel, it will be worth it. Don’t know your budget but don’t discount going up a level into a gs. Plenty of choice out there, just try to avoid the is220d unless you live on the motorway and enjoy cleaning egr valves
  3. Try and find an is250 sel instead. Save yourself from all the is220d issues. Search the forum for is220d issues. Spare yourself the pain lol.
  4. Hi ziggy, how much you get it for? What needs sorting? More pics please. was thinking of getting an older gs non hybrid but will be useful to me to see how you get on with yours. Was a little put off buying an older model hybrid, worried about buying more problems instead of just having petrol engine to look after. as prices come down may be tempted to get a hybrid too. What made you take the leap and get the 450h?
  5. Hi harry sounds like you got a sweet motor there. Pics pics and more pics lol. Liked the is200, still looks good today. Love the dials on the dash. doubt you’ll find much wrong with it, enjoy.
  6. Hi baviaannl, looks like you got sorted there. Like yourself hate the little things that spoil a car. My bumper taped down but hate the look lol. Mine looks like the end clip broken too, it did come off in my hand. How did you get yours fixed? Cost wise?
  7. Welcome ac1962, you’ll find a great bunch of people on here to answer any questions you have, you get quick responses to posts so don’t be shy with any questions. Impressed with your first choice of Lexus, what did you have before? A quick warning, once you go Lexus you won’t touch anything else lol. I take it you’re buying a brand new Lexus? Mine is a 2007, still drives like new, wouldn’t think was 12 years old. God knows how a new one feels. Very jealous is owner here. Enjoy the ride and good luck with your baby.
  8. Good choice ziggy. I like the older models too, maybe my age but find the more modern models too minimalist inside, I like buttons everywhere lol, the gs has plenty. Hope you find a good one and prepare to travel. All decent cars I like tend to be on the other end of the country.
  9. To Baviaannl, glad you got sorted, any luck fixing your bumper back in place? I just gorilla taped mine back in place, just want rid of this is220d now. Fed up with it lol. Want a takumi Es when launched but will probably end up with an old is250 when I stop dreaming. Deffo another Lexus for me, glad to see back of diesel when time comes, hopefully sooner rather than later. Hope exhaust stays on this time I get another.
  10. £220 was the full price I paid, they make and fit the parts. You ring first for quote, then they book you in and work takes few hours. Mine done at the Wirral centre, had no problems with mine. Hope you get sorted, it seems a few of us on here had this happen my is220d, your is250, remember member on gs board had it happen.
  11. Same thing happened to my is220d. Driving along then heard scraping before could stop heard bang. Stopped found back box missing and bumper hanging off a bit. After stopping at usual high street shops. Sorry guv dealer only part. bummer, got a replacement back box from a specialist, took a day but got sorted for £220. God knows what Lexus would charge. Is a stainless steel one with lifetime guarantee too. Firm I used was Powerflow. There is a branch in sittingbourne if any use to you. Just google Powerflow sittingbourne.

Cracking motor you got btw
  13. Thanx for all the replies much appreciated. I did check the mot history on govt site did notice windscreen changed, but concerned may be non Lexus and issues with wipers, photochromic mirror etc. Also seems to have had trouble with tyres in its life. Still a tidy is250 and has all I’m looking for in one. Just don’t want to waste my time getting up to there and finding a dog. Be good to get some £££££ off too.
  14. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201811052151058?postcode=l360sl&radius=1500&aggregatedTrim=SE-L&sort=sponsored&make=LEXUS&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&model=IS 250&advertising-location=at_cars&page=4 looking for an is250, any input be appreciated, tempted by it. Thought run it past more knowledgeable people. Can’t be any worse than my is220d lol.
  15. Is220d owner here. Get an is250 auto. Wish I did but didn’t know better at the time. I don’t do the mileage to benefit from diesel and it’s embarrassing at times driving with a James Bond smoke screen belching out albeit it for a minute. love the car itself, would definitely buy another Lexus, glad they dropped the diesel, future Lexus ownership should be trouble free fingers crossed.
  16. I feel your pain. When bought my is, bought four new tyres. Only had them for two months and hit a pothole which sliced my sidewall. New tyre needed. 12 months later got a screw near outer edge, couldn’t repair and because tyres over 12 months decided to buy two new tyres because on same axle. Always wondered how do flat lying nails, screws etc get into a round tyre, plenty of theories online, bloody nuisance though. like yourself hate knowing I’ve got a repaired tyre, want my car 100%. And you can only repair a puncture twice on the same tyre I think, may be wrong. new tyres cost ££££ hate being nobbled by a penny screw or nail. Maybe councils should drag magnets over the roads to pick them up lol. fortunately got a space saver spare, how do you manage with the foam kits on most cars?
  17. +1 for fitting a Bosch battery. If you're a member of Costco or know someone who is. They stock Bosch batteries in the tyre centre. Not sure of cost but another option. Get it changed asap. Nothing worse than being let down by an old battery and always happens at stupid o clock when you can't do anything. You can tell it happened to me with my old car bloody pain
  18. Hi Sami, welcome and enjoy your gs. How is the battery charge? Looking for a gs myself was a bit worried about buying an older hybrid. Be interesting to see how you get on with yours as may sway me to get a hybrid rather than a petrol gs. Yours looks in fab condition
  19. Gs a good choice sir. Going to be my next Lexus. Take a look at the new ES due out its replacing the gs if you're looking at a brand new car. Standard equipment levels compared to bmw are superb, looking to find a gs in premier trim with ml stereo myself
  20. Mobil 1 fully synth seems a good choice on various Lexus forums. Had that put in my is220d on last service by ats. Hasn't used a drop in over a year but I only do less than 10k a year
  21. I'm a bit anal about having same tyres all round. Because the sizes are different front and back I had to go up a speed rating to get all four tyres of the same make from the same site, Strange I know but maybe just me. Ended up with Dunlop sport max rt2 tyres all round. I find them great for the is220d. i know you're not supposed to lower the speed rating but ok to increase it. I can safely travel at 100mph+, like you could lol. Be lucky to get over 40 round here.
  22. Hi wetmybeak, that must have hurt writing off a velar, what happened? What you planning on getting after the year? Bet it's a Lexus again lol. You would have thought jlr would be throwing the cars at you guys. £269 a month for a velar is amazing value, where I live would be terrified of being burgled, carjacked, vandalised. Let us know how you get on with the velar and if there are any things you miss about your ex lexus
  23. Good news bongo, glad you're seemingly sorted. It's a pain when these things happen, and always when you can't immediately get it sorted.
  24. That's good bongo, at least you can get them to sort it for you. Fingers X just a new battery needed. Don't lose faith in your Lexus as these things happen. To put things into context, I bought a 2007 is220d 18 months ago and in this time, had vsc eml triangle lights on numerous times, now gone after motorway driving, shredded my serpentine belt due to water pump going, lost my back box resulting in replacement back box and damaged rear bumper, had to replace two front tyres due to nail in one. But I still love my Lexus. These things can and will happen to anyone and any car. chin up and hope the garage sorts it for you quickly
