  1. I have standard nav so no Home shortcut. No voice control either. I'll just have to stick with the lots of clicks and twists
  2. The Toyota stand never displayed Lexus cars though, it was only Toyotas. Does this mean they were letting Lexus owners in? I missed a trick if so!!
  3. It must be said that Linas is the nicest person on this forum and he never attacks anyone. He debates things in a clear, logical and intelligent way and i cannot understand why he gets up people's noses on here. He answers all questions and never rants about anything, ever.
  4. Now that is a hybrid I'd be very happy to drive on a daily basis and I'm sure I'd enjoy every single mile!!
  5. Quite a bit I would think. The RC-F would carry more speed in the corners although perhaps not as much difference as you'd expect but there are some long long straights at the Ring and there would be a big difference in speed there for sure. Assuming same drivers in each
  6. I went on the Thursday and Friday. Always a spectacular event and it's good to see Lexus finally showing their cars. For years I wrote to Lexus marketing once or twice a year urging them to take a stand at Goodwood. Doubt my emails ever registered but good to see them there. Now if they would just do an upstairs lounge for Lexus owners, life would be perfect
  7. Bangernomics according to the guy who writes about used cars in Autocar, or at least used to - I haven't read the magazine for some time.
  8. I had a Renault 19 16v company car back in 1991 - 94 and in 1993 we planned a long driving holiday down through France, Germany and into Austria. Was planning to stop off at the Nurburgring for a lap or two on the way down. Unfortunately a week or so before the trip the gearbox started to sound a bit noisy - sounded like a bearing was on the way out. I took it to the dealership and they said it was ok for the time being but would need fixing in the future but couldn't be done before I went, I suspected the lease company had got involved and decided that it wasn't bad enough to repair at that time. Off we went and the noise got worse as we drove down through France and into Germany. Couldn't bring myself to thrash around the circuit because I was fearful of the call to the lease company confirming that the gearbox had finally failed and could they recover my car from turn 11 at the Nurburgring...
  9. My reply was bit tongue in cheek. Not sure that a Lexus hybrid car is an enthusiasts car and therefore not something likely to be thrashed around the Ring. We could have a Nurburgring real-life economy thread though
  10. Blimey. You've got me thinking I might be missing something. I'll check next time I go out. Cheers!
  11. Wouldn't this be due to the GS being a slightly older and different design than the IS?
  12. More likely down to personal opinion rather than tyre pressures surely? We're all different. I always felt mine was road surface sensitive. On smooth tarmac it was whisper quiet but on concrete motorways and top dressed country roads it was deafening. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but it was significant enough to spoil the car for me but again this is possibly me and my ears.
  13. Ha ha. I've always wanted a Merc and always came away feeling underwhelmed by their refinement. I did get to swan around in an S320 CDI for a while and that was pretty amazing. Always been slightly disappointed by every C Class I've driven though. I wouldn't say not to a C63 AMG though and I'd happily put up with the hard ride, doubt I'd need a stereo too!
  14. Nice result, car looks amazing!!! I had my XF detailed at Auto Detox in Tamworth. Think it cost me £200 and although expensive no doubt, the results were amazing. Cleaning the car was so much easier after and water just beaded off anyway. If I keep my NX I'm going to get that done too. I too now use the two bucket method and use a pre-wash foam to lift the dirt and use microfibre towels to dry the car. I always scoffed at people doing this but I can now see it does work and keeps swirls to a minimum, something I have to do with my car which is a dark metallic blue. It felt awkward when I first started doing it but it's now second nature. Awesome result Carl, your car looks amazing.
  15. Wonder why? You'd think something like this would be the same on both sides of the pond.
  16. The newer IS models have a Home shortcut from the main nav screen which I quite liked. In an NX you have to go through a number of clicks from the nav screen to select home as destination. Given that almost 50% of the journeys I do when I need the satnav on are me going home, a shortcut straight from the main nav screen would be useful. I only have the basic nav though so maybe the advanced setup has this? Interesting what you say about the route starting automatically Ian. I was wondering why mine occasionally started automatically. Be wary of stopping the boot opening all the way with the key or button on the lid. I almost always end up smacking my head on the way down or usually on the way back up. I've just got used to waiting for it now. You can change the height to which it opens though within the settings menu. Being short of stature, I have mine set to not open all the way which makes it a bit quicker.
  17. Dash clip hanger issues aside, mine was 100% reliable. But all my Lexus cars have been reliable so difficult to say whether my 2nd gen IS250 was more reliable. Then again it was older - I bought it when it was 4 years old and sold it when it was about 7 years old. Guess we'll find out in a few years time whether the newer models are as good.
  18. I had a lovely 2005 2.4 Executive for about 12 months. Loved it, awesome car to drive. Did lack a bit of torque low down but boy the top end certainly made up for it. I've been thinking quite a bit about buying a cheaper car but I do 20k miles per year and need reliability because if I don't get to work I don't get paid. Love Honda engineering even if occasionally their styling goes a bit weird.
  19. I thought my IS250 SE-L did have crashy suspension on broken surfaces. Personal opinion I guess. Most of the time it was fine. I had reason to drive a 2nd generation IS250 a while back. I was looking forward to it but came away feeling underwhelmed. My memory, of my own car. suggested it would be better than it was. This was a pristine 60k mile IS250 on 17" wheels that had led a pampered life. I drove it on roads I'd regularly driven by 3rd generation IS cars on and I came away feeling that the game had moved on. Judged in isolation they are fine cars and I still have soft spot for mine which I had for nearly 3 years. I'm not aware of your personal circumstances. I was having a dig back at someone else who constantly posts negative stuff on here. Not anyone else.
  20. Because the NX200t is only available as an F-Sport. Believe the suspension is different in this model, a bit stiffer and therefore possibly more road noise transmitted to the cabin. Won't be any difference in airborne noise but could be a difference in noise heard & felt through the car. My previous IS250 F-Sport was very poor in this regard
  21. Item 3. Yes, agree completely. I've said elsewhere that there is something slightly unresolved about an NX's ride. You can feel some tyre bounce on account of the quite tall profile and you can feel the suspension working on undulating roads and yet you feel every slight ripple. The car just doesn't seem able to soak up any short sharp ridge in the road. Motorway expansion joints really highlight this. Shame because the car is so refined and comfortable most of the time. It sort of feels like the tyres are over inflated and yet I set mine to exactly what Lexus states they should be. Tried dropping a couple of psi and still the problem persisted and yet I could feel a tad more tyre bounce so I don't think it's tyre related. If I keep mine I'll definitely go for a different tyre make when replacement beckons to see if that does make a difference. Maybe it needs a bit of Lotus expertise to fine tune the suspension setup?
  22. Item 2 irritates me a little on mine I must admit. I've just got used to the first item. Would like a Home shortcut mind!
