  1. Might be an idea to wait for a Lexus branded one for £64.....
  2. To be fair this isn't a subject that is going to trouble many Lexus hybrid owners! Unless starting or contributing to a "what mpg do you get on a full lap of the Ring" thread of course
  3. Great, thought this was the reason. Thanks for confirming
  4. I'm certainly having some deep thoughts about my current car which doesn't cut it for me. Ranging from buy something nearly new for about £30k down to why not buy something fun but older for about £15k? I have a lovely looking NX which is a delight to drive some times and an absolute nightmare at other times, largely when I'm pushing on a little. I'm also looking at something that is depreciating quite a bit and will continue to do so were I to keep it for 2-3 years. Trouble is I need a reliable car to get me around - I do about 20k miles a year and depend upon the car for my work. I have 1 year approved used warranty and 2 additional years extended warranty on mine, also have the smart repair policy too. Won't spend much on repairs but of course I will lose a fair bit in depreciation. Was initially thinking I'd buy something else for about what I paid for the NX but I'm now thinking I might buy for about £15k only. I'm enjoying driving my wife's Mini Cooper 1.5t and we can share the mileage between two cars - I do twice the annual mileage she does - so maybe it's time to buy something enjoyable that would hold its value. Keep being drawn to an IS-F. Might have to pay a bit more than £15k to get a decent one but it won't depreciate half as much as an NX and my smiles per mile will be way higher.
  5. Nothing wrong with tax avoidance. It's tax evasion that is wrong.
  6. Listers, a large dealership chain based in my area, recycle all of their company cars about every 3 months and a maximum of about 6k miles. Each company car driver in the chain gets to drive a new car every 3 months and they are then re-sold through the approved used scheme I believe. Other large dealer chains will do the same I'm sure
  7. I'm not an expert on MOTs but I think I can find about 12-15 things listed on the service schedule for a major that MOT testers wouldn't check. I'm not justifying the extortionate servicing charges for Lexus, far from it, but surely an MOT check doesn't cover it
  8. I'm going to try an NX200t as soon as I find one local and I can get to see it. I love most aspects of my NX300h and an NX200t might fix the parts I don't like. Worried about road noise and comfort though so important for me to be as diligent as possible before offloading my NX300h
  9. I was surprised to find there isn't much in it between the NX and RX for width. The RX is a bit longer though of course. I still go weak at the knees every time a see the detail behind the rear window on a new RX. It looks amazing. I want more performance than my NX300h is capable of providing so I'm widening the search to an RX, also a GS450h. Going to drive an NX200t F-Sport too although they are as rare as hen's teeth. Size puts me off because my wife likes a slightly smaller car. She wouldn't drive any of my Jag XF cars. Likes the NX albeit on motorways and other wide roads only. Would like an RX450h though.
  10. Interesting. Looked at a current model 335d today. It was nice. Haven't driven it yet, I was just browsing their stock as I was waiting for my wife. Will try to get back to see it at some point soon for a proper look and a drive.
  11. I found my IS250 F-Sport to have terrible road noise to be honest. The car was so refined in all other respects that the amount of road noise was so out of character. Broken, pock-marked B roads were particularly deafening. Went round corners pretty well as I recall even if you couldn't really feel any loss of front-end grip through the artificially heavy steering, Suspect that after a succession of sports oriented models I've now reached an age where comfort matters more which perhaps says more about me than the cars themselves!
  12. Possibly time to update your current model in your details now!
  13. Nice car Les, very nice indeed. I like an IS but I too think the GS is a cut above in terms of quality and ride comfort. Interesting that you note your GS seems to have better pickup than your IS. My brother-in-law's GS300h Luxury always felt a bit quicker on initial pickup than my IS300h Executive I had at the time. I always put it down to subjectiveness but I'm not so sure now. Hope you enjoy your car. Lovely colour and quite a striking car to look at in the pictures.
  14. A current IS has pretty stiff suspension for me, possibly as a result of my advancing years it must be said, so lowering it would lead to a very stiff ride. I agree with a lot of posts too, it is a low car. Ask my mother every time she got in and out of mine.
  15. I suspect you can't afford to buy a current generation IS and trash everything in the range to make you feel better about your purchase. This is much better than saying you'd quite like to have a current generation IS but can't afford to. I loved my 2nd generation IS250 but there is no way I'd go back to it now. The automotive world has moved on and newly designed cars, Lexus included, are so much better than a 2nd generation IS designed in circa 2004/2005. Peachy engine and a nicely judged blend of performance and comfort but a near 13 year old design nonetheless with fairly crashy suspension on anything other than 16" wheels. Lovely cars in their day mind.
  16. No, sorry, you've said something completely different this time. I wanted to know what you meant when you said "Just to point out - this post from person who has suspected right foot dysfunction makes perfect sense and is worth liking. However, given what he have said himself I do not understand why he disagreeing we me so much? Actually, he even contradicts himself in the same post and elsewhere!" I've looked up right foot dysfunction and I can't find it. I guess it's in the same place on the internet that your <7.6s 0-60 IS250 is. I also wondered who believes I have this suspected affliction and whether I should get it checked out. I also wondered where I'd been contradicting myself. It's quite possible that I have but I'm not aware of it tonight. Certainly we have disagreed on things but then that is what makes the world such a great place. Is there anyone else on the internet that disagrees with you? I think I'll stop here but I'm fairly sure you'll find some more who disagree with you so I'll leave you to put them right. It's been fun tonight.
  17. Same words so I still don't understand what you've written. Try some different words and then read it back to make sure you understand it yourself before posting it
  18. Sorry, I don't understand what you've just written here
  19. Looking forward to further writeups about your time with the new car rayaans. Hope you enjoy it
  20. You must have one of those special IS250 cars than do low 7s to 60. That would figure. Linas.P has one too
  21. On the other hand, I haven't liked any of your posts because I don't think they are informative and well written
  22. Guess the red mist was descending as soon as you saw that comment and it obviously affected your logic. I used to do that a lot when I was 3 years old
  23. Most people would agree that the original post was well written, informative, a good read and pretty objective in the eyes of the person doing the testing. Well everyone apart from Linas.P of course
  24. But then yours is a <7.6s 0-60 IS250 so you obviously have a good one. Possibly one of those specials that rolled off the production line. They're quite rare. Absolute legends in the minds of their owners
