  1. My daughter is still fighting a claim against a retard on a motorbike who hit the back of her car and careered down the side and hit the wing morror and then somersaulted over her bonnet as she was coming to a stop behind traffic on a dual carriageway coming up to a roundabout. Happened last July. Police attended the scene and ambulances and despite the Police Report stating the rider was at fault the rider still claimed my daughter was at fault. Close to going to court now and suspect the rider's insurer will settle in full before going to court. Luckily my daughter was fully comp with legal cover but it still takes time. Some people will just never admit they were in the wrong and will fight tooth and nail to the end. Get photos of the junction. Film traffic using the junction in the correct way using the correct lanes. Keep a log of all conversations and keep a record of all emails and claim forms etc. Just stick it out and hopefully both insurance companies will come to their senses and agree that the other driver was at fault. The Insurance industry is imo a little corrupt though and insurers often collude to agree a knock for knock settlement because it reduces their risk and costs. My daughter's insurance company initially suggested a knock for knock settlement which was unbelievable given the circumstances. Good luck, hope you get the result you deserve.
  2. Still have a soft spot for my own 2006 IS250 SE-L sold a long time ago. Welcome from me too

Possibly time to get the car to a dealership and get it properly fixed? Or a recommended (on here) independent that has the skills to diagnose and fix. Any updates?
  6. You might well be the only customer that wants red floor mats in your IS300h, in which case it would never be worth Lexus offering them as an OEM option. Even if you aren't the only one, I doubt there'd be enough customers to make it worthwhile. I'd quite like to see an IS450h as a halo model but doubt that will happen either. Buying the fabric patches and sticking/sewing them on sounds like a good option if you really want red floor mats. Let us know what you do. Pics too please
  7. I worry about threads like this. How long before someone jumps in an unfamilar car and 3 miles later wallops the car in front and claims the cruise control was at fault. Seen a few on this forum saying they use the cruise control in an NX in town which imo is taking a bit of a chance and relying on a technology that was never designed for this. Might work every time but might not and a risk not worth taking
  8. Re the auto-fodling mirrors, you'll have to check with a dealer. I'm thinking this one is a manual folding setup only, ie press the button on the armrest to fold them. Even the current generation IS has 'manual' folding mirrors with some models (Executive was one).
  9. Back to the dealership I would think. Might just be a coincidence though
  10. Nice car indeed. Very similar colour to my NX
  11. Hello and a welcome from me too
  12. Sounds like the car has a Lexus extended warranty in which case the parts need to be genuine Lexus parts I would have thought to maintain the warranty in this area. Doesn't have to be done at a Lexus dealership mind. Servicing will have to be done in accordance with the Lexus spec and again genuine Lexus parts used. Unless it's an independent warranty.
  13. Might need a bit of patience to get the right car at the right price but good luck in your search
  14. Nice way of bonding with a new car though. A nice 440 mile drive, nothing like it to get to know a new car well. Normally the other way round mind because cars tend to be cheaper north of the border.
  15. Time to bite the bullet and buy a new key and get it coded then perhaps
  16. Looks like a nice car for that price
  17. It doesn't maintain the speed set down a steep hill. It just doesn't. Not designed and set up to do this. If people are maintaining the same speed downhill then it is the regenerative braking (in a hybrid) that is reducing any speed increase as a result of the hill or binding brakes or some other gremlin. It's not the cruise control. On an IS.
  18. Personally speaking, I always ask for a discount. I'm happy to say I can't really afford it and could they offer a discount. I also shop around because I have about 5 I could use. Sometimes have to use the nearest though and pay what they ask. I do 20k miles a year and £700 per year for servicing is a bit ludicrous imo. Agree that £445 is steep
  19. Likes Refinement Seating comfort Handling Dislikes Needs a bigger engine Ride over short sharp ridges, eg expansion joints, etc Power bootlid opens and closes far too slowly
  20. Yep agreed. Any car is a compromise. Suspect I'd be much better off as a lottery winner with 4 or 5 cars in my garage to meet all of my driving needs!
  21. This is interesting Ian, thanks. I'm going to test drive an NX200t F-Sport to see what the difference is. I'm sure I will like the additional performance and conventional drivetrain and it seems I may not mind the sports suspension setup given what you've said. Will then have to convince the dealership that they will sell my 300h far easier than they will their 200t to get the best deal!
