  1. I don't have another unfortunately. If it'll start I'll give that a go. Electrics aren't really my forte. As you may have gathered.
  2. Agreed. I've seen the car on the Lexus website and the price isn't outrageous for what you're getting. The used car warranty is bullet proof and I very much doubt they'll budge on price. Best bet as John says is to try and get something thrown in. They might be able to sort something re: the transport costs but they know they don't have to try because it will sell on its own. Personally I'd pay the money, get the train down and very much enjoy the drive back. London to Glasgow? Yes please! Get it bought Yusuf. Once you've had a Lexus you'll wonder what you've been doing all these years
  3. Went for a little run out in the Peaks this afternoon, nasty weather so lights on, stereo on, wipers on and I noticed my wipers were slow as well as the 'lights on' indicator being a little dim. Apart from that everything appeared normal and I didn't really give it a thought. Fast forward to me pulling up in the supermarket car park and I noticed I'd got an array of dim warning lights (just about all of them) but the car still running OK. Car started fine when I came back to it but again after 10 minutes all the hazy lights were back. Also the steering wheel didn't extend/retract with the ignition. Everything electrical is extremely slow so I assume the battery is virtually drained. So..... battery or alternator? Unfortunately I don't have the tools to test the current state of the battery or whether the alternator is putting the charge back in but wondered if these symptoms told you anything? These things always happen at a weekend so I'm a bit stuck until Monday but did wonder what you thought. Things to note: In the last fortnight or so I have had the cam belt, aux belt changed. On Friday I accidentally left both front interior map lights on for an hour or two and I'm aware that little things can just tip a battery over the edge. I have a feeling this is an alternator issue but I am aware that little things can tip a battery over the edge. This one came with the car, has no dates on it and is a brand I've never heard of. Many thanks. [edit] Should also add that I've had the PAS pump changed due to another issue but there were no signs of leaks onto the alternator. [/edit]
  4. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I've recently had a car clear out and I'm just running the LS. There's basically nothing that needs doing so unsure whether to do "other things" to it like you or buy another little project like the Saabs and GS were. I would ditch the aftermarket HIDs. Not a fan. On mine I just put whiter sidelight bulbs in and now they match the colour of the main beams. Had a chat yesterday with a guy from Japparts on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/jappartsltd?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 and he might be a good source for the OEM bits you need. I'd recommend Tony Banks for an exhaust but Hampshire is a long way from Leeds. And tasteful mods? Antimacassars and curtains surely?
  5. I'll be honest Alan, I think you've dodged a bullet not being able to get the wipers up.
  6. Jonny Smith posted this up on Twitter the other day.
  7. Cassette player in my LS is spot on. Flac, memory cards, MP3? Analogue ftw
  8. Got the new PAS pump fitted Saturday. Much better and I'm now just keeping an eye out for leaks. Also managed to get the freshly gold plated and lacquered badges and emblems on. Looks pretty good even though I say so myself As previously mentioned, the grille emblem and hubcap badges were quite tarnished to start with so the results aren't quite as good. Still very happy with them though. Should tackle this too I suppose.
  9. Would you get the VSC/TRC and orange light for O2 sensors or cat efficiency? When the cats were on the way out on my MK2 GS300 I just got the orange light. And that went out on its own after a few ignition cycles.
  10. I'll respond Kevin, I can't wait for the pictures!
  11. Doesn't really make any odds. Whether it's Long Life or Super Long Life they'll still mix but I believe the (older?) Long Life Red is only available as a concentrate.
  12. Actually, not sure if the MK4 is the same unit or shape so better limit this question to MK3s.
  13. Would anyone happen to know if all MK3 and MK4 LS 400 came with auto dimming side mirrors? I need new glass for my o/s and there's one or two available but I want to buy the correct one.
  14. Agreed. Proper stuff is the Lexus pink pre-mixed coolant P/N 08889-80072 or there is a concentrated red version. https://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-lc/lexus-lc-2016-present/lexus-lc-engine-service-kits/lexus-super-long-life-pink-coolant-5l/ How much to add very much depends on what's in already, whether it's been topped up with water etc etc
  15. Never actually saw it in the flesh but it looked nice enough on the photos. It belonged to a friend.
  16. Unfortunately not. Hence my comments in your thread.
  17. Nice colour. Not limited to this seller but I am extremely wary of all the vehicles for sale at the moment that haven't had MOTs since the middle of 2019 due to the April on deferment.
  18. I was using the airbag ECU as an example. The ECU and loom were Soarer specific and in fact specific to that particular model. Amayama did list one but it was £1000+ I was just adding to Steve's comment above about maintenance and spending. I don't want to discourage you, I'd love to see a Soarer on here. And if the prospect of running an older import doesn't put you off then go for it
  19. That though they may share many parts with other more widely available Toyota and Lexus, some model specific parts are simply not available. Cam belt, water pump and bodywork may be an easy fix but I was very close to getting a Soarer earlier this year and due to a faulty airbag ECU the car couldn't pass an MOT and was therefore only worth the scrap value. All that said, if you do get one I'd love to see it. Cam belt and water pump cost would be around the £400 mark I assume.
