  1. You could try a clay bar on the screen.
  2. First gen 9-3. Like mine. Or OG9-3 as some refer to it.
  3. Bonnet struts from SGS are well worth it too And fyi if you want to complete the OEM look there's also some moulding that goes here...
  4. Could still be the battery regardless of charging. I guess you're not in the AA, RAC, whatever?
  5. Or if it needs more than that there is a kit available from Lexus for 40ish quid. Or there is for the MK3 and I can't see them being hugely different. If you need an entire pump I got a decent one off the Bay for about £120. Non-genuine but seems to be OK. Lovely motor Sam. I did a proper double take for a second because I've got a mate with a gold LS and LEX plate. Regarding the wheels, they should refurb very well. £250 should get all 4 shot blasted and powder coated. Keep the originals, they ride so much better.
  6. Oh they do like to wobble. Especially the first gen 9-3. The second gen is much more rigid.
  7. Family can be such spoilsports! I don't there are many of here that would swap from a Lexus to a Saab!
  8. Briefly, yes. It was a 3.0 litre V6 Griffin. One of only a couple still on the road. A friend bought it but got shouted at so handed it to me. Lovely car but just too much needed doing. Not really mechanical stuff but things like heaters not working etc. The sort of thing that could take up a huge amount of time and money.
  9. So many people are feeling the strain at the moment. Sale may have been forced. Anyhoo, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to point out how misunderstood lexuschap/funinthesun is...
  10. It's a 9-3 Aero with the B205R. I recently sold a 9-3 Convertible with the n/a B204i and I've had a couple of 9-5 Aeros (B235R) but I always found the 9-5s to be a little unrefined, especially when I'd got a Lexus or two on the fleet. The 9-3 Aero is a nice fit, has plenty that needs doing and also has that lovely body kit. More news as I get it
  11. I can't help it. That and you'll notice I haven't updated my LS 400 thread recently. BECAUSE NOTHING EVER GOES WRONG WITH IT. Saabs on the other hand regularly break so this will keep me quiet for ages.
  12. Astonishing. And at just under 100k miles too. When I saw the winning bid I assumed it was sub 20k. Some bidding up gone on there I think.
  13. I can't recommend the LRA/AA cover highly enough. The fact that it covers any vehicle you're driving or you're a passenger in is reason enough for me to continue renewing. It also covers another member of my household ie my wife. I also like the fact that it's a dedicated AA patrol that comes out. On the 4 or 5 times I've had to call on them they've been particularly courteous, efficient and knowledgeable.
  14. I'm no expert (hence my original thread) but I'd be surprised if a code reader would show anything for a failing battery/alternator. You could try one of those FM transmitter things I mentioned. Alternatively, wait until the lights come on and then call the AA. They'll test for you. Another thing to keep in mind is that the alternator can take the battery with it so added £££.
  15. As my learn'd colleagues have said above, alternator. Had a very similar thing the other week on my LS.
  16. These issues used to drive me nuts when I bought or leased expensive brand new (usually German) cars. Forever chasing squeaks, buzzing and rattles. Now I achieve a Zen like state by driving either an entirely silent LS 400 or a ridiculously cheap car that's a bit of a shed like the V70
  17. Battery seems to be holding out but the winter will be the real test I suppose. And I do have a meter of sorts. One of those FM/BT transmitters for streaming music and calls. On start up it shows battery voltage and how much charge the alternator is putting back.
  18. I've a feeling it's for the slightly later LS ie 97-00 Or possibly 00- LS/GS/IS It will no doubt fit Toyota/Lexus (like the GROM harness) but I think our MK3s are just too early.
