  1. Although I have an RC hybrid, I thought I might get more response here. I'm wondering whether to remove the HYBRID lettering on the sides, and h letter on the boot. The large Lexus SUV'S and Prius seem to be the main targets for cat theft because they are obvious hybrid models. Do you think our more mainstream looking cars are under the radar? Anybody removed theirs?
  2. Years ago, I used an old radiator hose with a hairdryer to direct the air to the bulb hole.
  3. Hi Flytvr. Yes, I have heard, hence my avoidance of details.
  4. Not only read it, I used to own that actual car! In the photos it's displaying a personal plate of the then owner ( who put the cat back exhaust on ). I know the original reg, but won't print it for privacy reasons. The car is well known on this forum. I managed to purchase a copy of the original magazine, and left it in the car when I part exchanged it.
  5. Purchased my ISF in June 2018 at 65 years old. Had many cars including a few V8's, and wanted one last one before I and they become dinosaurs. This was of course the best one. Part exchanged it after 13 months in July last year (at 66) for an RC300h, and I now waft about. Total cost of the F with depreciation, fuel, tax, insurance and a service, worked out at about 80p per mile. Goodvalue I think
  6. I can confirm the refund. When I purchased my 2011 ISF it came with the usual 12 months warranty. At the same time, I also signed up for the 2 for one extended when that expired. At one month into the second year, I received a check for the unused 23 months remaining. What I would mention is you only get a refund if you haven't made a claim in that year. Luckily, I put the car in for a service and mot 11 months after purchase and some warranty work was carried out under the 'first year'. Had I waited and had the service and mot after that, I would have encroached on the second year, and then only got 12 months refund. So play your cards right!
  7. I had the same 'problem' when I had an ISF. Can't quite remember, but I'm sure if you push the button in to select cruise control, and then push the stalk away from you for 5 seconds, you should then have the normal cruise you desire. Once done it remains until you turn the ignition off.
  8. Is the brake light switch ok? This played up on my Prius and cruise control failed. New switch cured it.
  9. I had problems with my alarm when I had a Prius. Leaving my phone inside, mirror effect sunglasses stored in the interior mirror box, and being parked in my driveway nexted to a kitchen window with a microwave oven in sight , all caused the alarm to go off.
  10. Part exchanged mine in August for a 16 reg RC300h at Lexus Milton Keynes. Luxury model in silver with grey leather. Now wearing my personal plate.
  11. Oh dear, sad to hear. I recognise the plate, and Mark was the previous owner of the ISF I've recently sold. It will have been a cherished car as mine obviously was.
  12. Looking at the exclusions of the warranty, it does say that lights, bulbs, and headlight adjustment is / are not covered. May be this is why they wish to charge?
  13. Had similar experience with my RC fob. First time it had been opened I think. In the end it was brute force and ignorance! I eventually got it apart, and my finger tips were very 'dented' afterwards.
  14. JTB, thanks for that, ref the tape. Didn't know that was available. Given me some ideas now...
  15. I think that looks really good, and well worth the £220.00. How do they trim the edges when fitting? It would concern me if they used a blade that cut through to the original paint. Future removal may then leave cut mark lines with the potential for rust?
  16. Had my granddaughter in her ISO fix seat today. She undressed her Teddy, then stuffed his clothes and him down the side of her seat blocking the Hybrid fan cooling vent. No problems caused as it was a short journey. Seems a bit of a daft place to locate it. Higher up under the small window would be far better.
  17. Each to their own. I only use to change a wheel. If changing pads, I obviously have a stand as well. Major work goes to a garage.
  18. I use those rubber pucks from Amazon. No problems with them. Recommended.
  19. Killysprint, yes, I understand what you say. My point is that if a shared component on a Toyota RAV4 fails after 4 years it's covered under warranty, but you'd have to pay with a Lexus. On a further point raised earlier about the servicing on new vehicles where they can be serviced according to manufacturers schedule by a vat registered non Lexus garage to maintain the warranty. I'm sure a Toyota garage could service a Lexus better than a specialist in Lexus's eyes. So how about going to Toyota for 3 years at possibly reduced cost....
  20. What really miffs me is the Lexus versus the Toyota warranty. I have an RC300h, 3 years warranty. Toyota RAV4 hybrid, 5 years. To get the extra 2 years warranty on my Lexus, £995. Many of the components are shared. Should really be the other way round. Still, my choice.
  21. If I had the choice of a car with full Lexus history and one with specialist history I'd buy the former. Don't forget the extended warranty can still be purchased at up to 10 years old with Lexus history. If for some reason you are not able to keep the vehicle for as long as you think, you may have troubles selling. F cars can take a while to sell anyway and you'd just be adding to the problem. When I had my ISF I knew how much it would cost per annum as I had the fixed cost of the warranty, plus the service cost. A complex and expensive 9 year old car (when it finally gets to that age) will be a much better purchase option with warranty than yours will be.
  22. No spare in my RC either. I do carry a plug kit and footpump in the boot. A friend of mine does similar, and when on a long journey or holiday, has one of his old legal tyres as well (ie, no rim). He fills the tyre with soft luggage, shoes etc. That way if he gets a non repairable puncture, he can give the tyre to the rescue person to get fitted so he doesn't get stung for an expensive replacement.
  23. Above also applies to the new ones!! Makes things so much easier in the future.
