  1. How old is your 12 volt battery? Spurious things like this happen when it's failing.
  2. I was surprised at the cost of large washes! It's cheaper to drill holes in some 2p coins!!
  3. As mentioned, no logic. Difference in premium for me, from a Prius to an ISF, was £2.11p with the same cover and company!! Called them to confirm and explain cost and performance difference, and couldn't explain either.
  4. Had Scabbard fish and banana when in Madeira last week. Bit apprehensive, but was yummy.
  5. People that message you and when you reply promptly, get no answer, and when you call they still don't answer? Well, s#d them, I'm going out and doing what I'd previously planned.
  6. On my A30, I had heated washers! I coiled some copper brake pipe around the top hose and intercepted the plastic tube between the bottle and washers.
  7. To add, by the amount of questions and posts you've put up, I think you ought to seek help from a garage. One can attempt most things, but brakes being a safety item need doing correctly first time.....
  8. Did you put a screwdriver through a hole to turn a slotted adjuster back? Or did you not, and put a 10mm bolt in to a threaded hole to push against the hub as a puller? If you did the latter you may have unseated the brake shoes.
  9. Sounds like you've backed the park brake shoes off to enable the old discs to come off, but not twiddled the adjuster up when you put the new discs on.
  10. There must be somebody, somewhere that has made their own. A transplant V8 into an IS body...
  11. Think outside the box. Buy the ES, and an old Berlingo. Chuck the bike and muddy kit in that, and keep the ES sparkling clean...
  12. Don't think there is a permanent solution. I reckon 400 grit is a bit too coarse! Did my daughters Avensis with 1200, followed by 2000, and soapy water. No deep scratches! Good buff with T cut, followed by polish. Then T cut and polish every couple of months.
  13. If it was me, I'd have a go with T cut. I doubt if you'd make it worse. To put your mind at ease, have a vigorous T cut on a test area, such as the door jamb, or inner door by the lock mechanism. Then have a go at the scratch.
  14. Most probably a low battery in the fob. Is it the same with the other fob? Cheapest quick solution is new batteries.
  15. It was done about 3 years ago by a previous owner, so don't know the cost. Just the large back boxes replaced with small straight through ones. Sounded beautiful, but there was a drone at about 65 mph that you could 'drive through'. I couldn't tell if performance was increased, but being an ISF, it was quick enough anyway.
  16. Maybe a bit too far from you, but try Infinity Exhausts Bristol. Previous owner of an ISF I used to own had one made by them. Can make and fit same day. Their gallery shows the blue one I had.
  17. Ah, didn't realise that! I'll continue. And agree about Halfords prices. Most items can be purchased cheaper from Europarts etc
  18. Which then begs the question, is it worth being a Gold Club member? I negotiated a decent service plan, and I rarely purchase things from Halfords, so I don't consider it worth being a member now. I've just had a reminder, and regret I won't be renewing. If I can't contribute here, so be it.
  19. He didn't have a Lexus though! But he had a Mercedes for weekdays and a Shadow for the weekend...
  20. When my father retired about 30 years ago, they went on the Orient Express to Europe, Concorde to America, and returned on the QE2. All 3 things he wanted to go on in one hit.
  21. Little use is most probably the cause of your problem. Seals become dry and shrink, leading to fluid leakage. Get it regased and then use the climate control all the time.
  22. Sywell again. In my private hire driving days, I was returning in bad weather from a job in Wellingborough to Northampton. A helicopter passed quite low overhead, just as a job was available from Sywell. Drove there and waited at the pickup point and a familiar looking person approached. It was ex formula one driver, Dr Jonathan Palmer. It was him that buzzed me, and was grounded by the bad weather. I took him to a hotel for the night, and he asked me to pick him up first thing the following morning. On the way back he asked if I'd ever been up in a helicopter, and when I replied no, he immediately invited me! He did all the preflight proceedings, showed me how to close the door properly from the outside, and up we went. Returned 20 minutes later, I closed the door as instructed gave him the thumbs up, and off he went. Best tip ever!
  23. Not regular lunchtime entertainment, but they do rehearse regularly, and hear them in the distance most days. I think the pilots are ex Red Arrows. They also used to accompany the Vulcan bomber before it was grounded. Certainly heard that!
