  1. I live in Northampton close to Sywell Aerodrome. A Spitfire is based there and flies overhead nearly every day. I still can't stop myself going outside to listen to it, and even if I can't see it, I have to wait until it's out of earshot. Sounds nearly as good as the ISF I had!
  2. The struts I had made up were for another car, not a 250c. They did check the valves? on the one's I took in, but they were duff, so they made a new pair for me whilst I waited. Same price as off the shelf.
  3. Purchased my present Lexus from Milton Keynes Lexus, also part of the group. That was a very good experience. However, a year later when I required a new 12v battery, they wanted £395, and were adamant that was the correct price!!!! The official Lexus website had the quoted price of £125, but still they wouldn't budge. So, I went to Lexus Coventry where I purchased my previous car from who did charge me the proper price, included a wash and safety check. Also took out a service plan as well. Will never go to Milton Keynes again
  4. Well, I assume I have the Lexus one in mine, as I've never had to top it up between the 3 annual services!
  5. 1972, my first car, an Austin A30. £1.00 got me 3 gallons and lasted me a week. (Car was my 18th birthday present, and my father put the reg. PRT68 on it that he acquired a few years earlier. Has been on all my cars ever since)
  6. I've done the same mileage over two days. Just replaced the fuel used, and nothing was said.
  7. Standing back, Lexus have changed things, and will I think just weather the storm for a year or so. It has obviously upset us forum members who know what the Extended Warranty covered. But it won't upset future owners to the brand who didn't know. We'll either have to put up with it or lump it. With Lexus dealers mentioning 'free warranty until 10 years old' in their adverts, it is sure to win these prospective new customers. Personally, I have a year left on my extended warranty that I won't be cashing in. By then I will see how any claims are processed under Relax, and decide whether to continue with the brand
  8. Let it burn. Insurance will sort it out. When I was a private hire driver we had to carry a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. Advised by the council to leave a fire and call the fire brigade, and if someone required the first aid kit to give it to them to treat themselves in case we gave the wrong treatment and were sued!
  9. Yes, don't let them clean it. Mine is always clean, and I ensure it is when I take it to a dealership. I tell reception and also put my own signs on the dash and passenger seat!
  10. I'm very much into watches, and have seen the various types come and go. I have both quartz and mechanical types. But I think they're very different to cars. I do appreciate good quality mechanical watches, especially when you can see the movement through a clear back. I could go on, but the government does not legislate what types of watch you can purchase, but they can with transport when it comes to fuel choice.
  11. Both. If going on a longer journey, I always like to look at a paper map to see if there's an interesting place to stop for a break. Will then use Waze on my phone to take us there. Always keep an atlas in the car. Earlier this year we lost the signal high up in the Lake district, so resorted to the map until the signal returned. Have never bothered to use a built in sat nav in a car. Always use a phone as it's always up to date.
  12. Put the reg number on webuyanycar.com and keep an eye on it. My car has gone up £500 this month. May sell and buy a run around, and buy another Lexus again if the bubble bursts, but who knows?
  13. I paid similar 2 weeks ago at Lexus Coventry. Also replaced the fuel I used in the loan car. Being as they are nearly 30 miles away from where I live, I don't think it's unreasonable for the convenience.
  14. Where does geography come in to it when my Silver car is covered in flies, and my wife's White car isn't. Parked together and both washed and treated with the same products?
  15. Yes, my silver one does. Wife's white Aygo never has any. Parked next to each other, and cleaned using the same products. Mystery...
  16. It's about 10 years ago when we last went. Went on one of the catamarans. Altogether about 6 times prior. On all occasions cars were tethered, and closely packed together. Only one bad weather crossing. Not sure I'd want to take the Lexus. The car park spaces are quite small, and of course the roads narrow as well. I'd rather fly and hire a car, or go in our Aygo on the ferry. But yes, would recommend.
  17. I wondered about the ferry. Do they tether the car down? Went to Jersey some years ago, and the wheel trims got scratched by the straps. The ferries look a bit cramped for space, especially for door opening and passengers brushing past with shoulder bags etc.
  18. Bought my Lexus 2 years ago with the intention of driving in Europe. Alas, only managed once, so far! Drove from the Eurotunnel tunnel down to Bayeux. It was the first time for me, and took a bit of getting used to. Especially coming out of the terminal and being thrown onto the fast moving dual carriageway!! Found judging the width at the tolls difficult as I hadn't had the car long, and the wife being a little short! Anyone find the rail carriages narrow? The toilet blocks were very close to my mirrors, and the sensors were beeping all the time. Couldn't get out of the car so didn't see how much clearance I had. Was a tad worried about kerbing my alloys, and got away unscathed! Hopefully going again in September if allowed!
  19. I did read somewhere, and it may need further research that those roads with a NSL of 60mph, the authority responsible for that road has to inspect it every year and maintain to a certain standard. Whereas if the limit is under the NSL, ie 50mph it doesn't have to be. So a possibility of authorities abdicating responsibility. As I mentioned I may be wrong, and further research needed.
  20. When I was a Private Hire driver I owned my own Prius, and always used branded fuel, or Momentum. Those drivers renting and sharing cars always put the cheapest supermarket fuel in they could find. Quite a few had running and cat problems. Of course the owner had to sort the problems out. I never had any problems in a total of 300k over 2 cars. Now retired I apply the same principle. Momentum at 99 Ron is roughly the same price as branded 95ron so I tend to fill up with that.
  21. Most probably the 12v battery. By the time the winter weather comes, at 7or8 years old It's bound to leave you stranded anyway. So, whilst you're still mobile, get one fitted at a Toyota or Lexus dealer. There have been instances of radio problems after a new battery has been fitted, so let them do it , rather than anyone else. If you still have alarm problems, at least you will have eliminated the main culprit.
  22. Lexus Coventry. Took my RC300h in for service today. Sorted out a financial mistake on the service plan that was opened last year. Didn't realise at the time, but the service plan included the cost of 3 MOT's, when 2 are included in the 2 for 1 extended warranty. Ha, never mind, all sorted in good spirit. Had a 400 mile UX 250h for the day. Nice to borrow, but not a future purchase for me. My third service visit, and as usual, all staff very polite, and a pleasure to do business with.
  23. Yep, and get a rattle can mixed up to spray it with. If there is a slight miss match, I doubt if you'll notice. It's not as if it's directly next to an adjacent panel, or if you're painting a scape on a panel.
  24. Were they removed and not put back properly as your wrap was being done...
