  1. I wouldn't personally do it as Lexus paint is quite soft. Then again, I'm a ham-fisted clumsy numpty at the best of times so maybe it's just me and you would have better luck!
  2. He's got decent taste if he is Never a huge fan but I do like them.
  3. Because when these cars were designed many moons ago, no one ever thought there would be scrotes going around cutting the wires in order to nick the cat.
  4. Discreet - Judicious in one's conduct or speech Discrete - Apart from or detached from others https://www.dictionary.com/e/discreet-vs-discrete/
  5. I just thought that if I said how I truly feel about it, it would get pulled by the mods
  6. Problem is that it doesn't work on every model.
  7. I must admit that it really bugs me when people come asking for help but then that's the last you ever hear of them. It would be so much more helpful for other people in the future if they knew that a given suggestion worked or not.
  8. Colin's usually correct so I'd say go with what he says. I'll just add in that all the coin cells are the same voltage so from that point of view, any will do. The numbers actually refer to the size of the cell, so a CR1616 is 16mm diameter, 1.6mm high; a CR2032 is 20mm diameter, 3.2mm high and so on. If you think it looks too small "in the hole" you could go bigger if you wanted to.
  9. It certainly used to but it was a year or two since I did that. Just think of it as external storage for your data. Respectfully, I would say that's absolute garbage. Are you sure that when you were in the car that you were connected to the camera via the cellular (phone) network? It sounds like you could have been connected by wifi or Bluetooth and when you went in the house you went out of range of either of those technologies. To connect to the camera via LTE (cell network) then both camera and phone would have been connected to a cell tower - is it possible that the phone doesn't get a good signal in the house?
  10. It could be any one of a gazillion things so you need to see if there are any OBD2 codes and tell us what they are so that we can help. Without those codes it's all just complete guesswork.
  11. Yes, this is the way Toyota/Lexus eCVTs work. It's a very complex and highly sophisticated system that I can't even pretend to know how it works. In situations like this Google is your friend so here's one to start you off https://mag.lexus.co.uk/perfect-partners-e-cvt-and-hybrid/
  12. As others have said, you should be fine. However, just be aware that if you do run out completely, you'll need about 10 litres in the tank before attempting a restart - the plastic fuel containers are only 5 litres if I remember correctly. Also, if you make more than 3 unsuccessful restart attempts then the hybrid system could lock out and need a dealer to reset it.
  13. Yes, sorry, had a brain freeze there and for some reason or other I was thinking you had Techstream. If you have a Windows laptop it may well be a good idea to get it for future use as it's a very handy thing to have.
  14. The petrol engine is the only source of cabin heat so as others have said, either just wait a few seconds for it to fire up, or do as you do at home, ie, turn up the temp and as the system recognises the call for heat it'll turn it on. One other thing you may not be aware of is that no matter where you have the vent controls set, by default the warm air will always come out at low level first. This is because hot air rises so it's the quickest way of getting the cabin up to temp. Similarly, in summer the cool air will always come out at high level first so that it cools the cabin as it falls.
  15. You should be able to find some here at CPC
  16. If you're a handy sort of person, have a look at a video or two here https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tpms+battery+replacement
  17. Valid point, but just how valid I don't know. Nicking cats is an excellent 'wage' for them and I would imagine it would take a lot to stop them. However, I could see ear defenders being in their toolkit along with the reciprocating saw, angle grinder, trolley jack and machete if they got wise to it.
  18. You can have the loudest siren in the world but the truth is, it won't stop them because they just don't care if they're seen or not. As I've said before, from the moment their car pulls up to the moment they drive off is no more than 2 minutes tops. In, done and gone before you've even finished the phone call to the police. If you go out yourself, they blatantly wave the machete/bat/whatever at you and just tell you to get back inside.
  19. For future reference because I see that you're sorted now. I forget the size of the batteries so as an example, a strip of five CR2032 is just £3.58 at cpc.com An 11-piece set of jewelers screwdrivers from the same place for just £2.03 (although personally I'd go for a better quality set) All including VAT but plus about £4 for delivery. So the whole thing for less than a tenner and you have the screwdrivers for anything that crops up in the future and also three extra batteries too. A couple of minutes of your time and Robert is your mother's brother, job done. Of course, you don't have to tell us if you don't want to but I'm just curious - how much did Timpsons charge you?
  20. I'd be inclined to take it to another dealer or somewhere else completely. The RX300 may be a Lexus but it's just a standard petrol-engined car that thousands of mechanics up and down the country can work on. What's wrong with the car and what symptoms are you experiencing? Have you read any OBD2 codes (preferably with Techstream) and if so, what are they?
  21. There are a myriad of switches, buttons and other stuff that require the driver to look down so I'm not sure that argument holds water. They could have made it look much better but, for whatever reason, chose not to.
  22. Yeah, but the M61 is congested so it took longer to get to Preston
