  3. I'm afraid that five minutes a week is nowhere near enough. At the beginning of the first lockdown, the advice on Toyota's website was to put the car in Park and READY mode for about 60 minutes per week minimum (but don't leave it unattended as someone could drive away in it) to keep the battery charged up. The petrol engine will start up as and when needed during that time to keep it charged.

I don't know anyone who has the type you linked to so I can't answer your question but I do have one of these in the car for emergencies However, I also have one similar to this in the garage I got mine from Aldi for about £89.99 but it was a few years ago. It comes in handy for lots of things and I think they're great value.
  6. Probably just the 12V battery going to battery heaven. Using a multimeter check against the chart below for 'standing' voltage at the battery terminals. Then put the car into READY mode and check again, you should find about 14.5V this time - if so, the charging circuit is working but the battery isn't able to hold charge.
  7. Good points Rob. Your second and third points are related in that when set to auto, the Climate Control will automatically vent at high level first for that very reason. Also works the other way too; on cold days the system will vent air from low level first so that the hot air rises and warms the cabin quickly.

Either look in the manual or take the cover off the fob to see what's in there now and buy a strip of five for about £3.50 at https://cpc.farnell.com/ To be honest, no dealer has ever offered to change my key batteries and I've never asked for them to do it either.
  9. No, that's normal and as it says, it's telling you that the passenger airbag is on and ready to save a passenger's life. If you ever put a baby seat on the passenger seat then the airbag should automatically switch off, thereby preventing harm to the baby.
  10. Yes, very normal and very welcome. This is the regenerative braking, where the motor spin direction is reversed and it becomes a generator, so that the kinetic energy that would usually be lost as heat due to the friction caused by braking, is instead used to generate electricity to charge up the high voltage traction battery.

  13. No, you're not losing it Brian. The info was in the Owners Manual for each generation before it but for some reason, they don't include it for the 4RX, ie, 2016 onwards. I can't come up with anything after 2015 via Google either, so I think the only way you/we can find out is to pay for an hour or two access to the official workshop manual. I don't know how much it costs but on the upside, you can print out as much as you want while you have access.   15. I never, ever, turn off the aircon, especially these cars where they have Climate Control rather than standard aircon. Simply set the cabin temperature to what you want and the car does what it has to to keep it there for you. As Paul says above, almost certain that the seals have dried out and let the gas escape. I will say though, that under normal circumstances unless there is a fault, there is no need whatsoever to have the AC system "serviced". It's a sealed system, the gas and/or lubricating oil do not wear out and as long as they don't escape through a fault, the AC will be just fine. All my cars over the last 30 years or more have had aircon and not a single one of them has ever needed an aircon service. They've all been just as icy cold on the day I sold/scrapped them as when I bought them 5 or 10 years earlier.
  16. As far as I'm concerned anything that uses petrol when it should be on gas is defeating the object. For instance, there are some systems out there that will switch back to petrol on heavy load, which is rubbish. Having a fully-loaded car going uphill with a wide open throttle is just when you need it to be drinking cheap gas rather than expensive petrol and just smacks of installer incompetence in not using the correct components for the installation. It's still a bit of a minefield when you have three things to come together - you need someone who can suggest the best system* for the car and who is qualified to fit that system and will also do a very neat, good installation. I've come across installers who are meticulous in their work but they've only been qualified to fit one or two systems and they couldn't guarantee that they were the best systems for the car and that they would not switch back to petrol under heavy acceleration and loading. *The bloke who did my conversions really understands the science and doesn't fit any particular system from any particular manufacturer (which is really just a kit of parts) unless he thinks that would be the best solution in any given case. What he tends to do is to see what the car needs and then he 'mixes and matches' the best components from any manufacturer to get the best results. As an example, he may decide to use an OMVL reducer with Magic injectors and a NEVO gas ECU and a Prins this and a Romano that, and so on. We've had conversions done on an RX300, a Nissan Maxima QX SE Plus, a Nissan Maxima, I think we had a Rover 800 Sterling done and something else too far back to remember. I'm no scientist so I don't know why LPG is better for the engine, only that it is. Engine oil comes out almost the same colour as it went in 10k miles before so it's much cleaner. I would think LPG will be around for a fair while yet, although maybe petrol forecourts may diminish. Our local Calor Centre has a pump, as does our local Premier Gas place.
  17. 1. I remember someone on here converted his own LS430 (think his name is Hyland?) because he used to work as an installer, so yes, it can be done. 2. Petrol on the valves instead of FlashLube? Never heard of that one, sorry. All my cars used FlashLube 3. I don't know the cost of a conversion these days but the last car we had converted was our RX300 and was £1,300 a few years ago. Only you will know how much mileage you do and how long your pay-back or break-even point will be. I can say that LPG is better for the environment, better for the engine, and far better for the wallet. 4. Never had air suspension but I very much doubt it would cause a problem. 5. Never had an LS430 but had 5 or 6 cars converted over the years and loved it. The car ECU sends out signals to the petrol injectors as normal but those signals are intercepted and sent to the gas ECU and on to the gas injectors instead. It works brilliantly and if I didn't have a hybrid I would have LPG again in a heartbeat. Although it is possible to convert hybrids, I'm just not brave enough. Hybrids are very complex anyway and I don't want to add yet another layer of complexity.
  18. I may be wrong but I would imagine that the HUD would only activate with the car in READY mode and if that's correct then it would be reading the output voltage of the DC/DC converter, which is the hybrid equivalent of the alternator (approx. 14.5V) and not true battery voltage.

  20. Almost definitely radio interference from something like a baby monitor, remote gate opener or other things like that. It may work if you move the car a few feet/few metres either way but I'd say someone has got something new.
  21. I know what you're saying Len but it's just simply not 'environmentally friendly' to print 6, 7, or even 800 pages to stick in the glove box these days. And let's face it, 90% or more of what's in there is either just commonsense or you already have the knowledge from previous cars and/or years of motoring. Even if you don't have the knowledge, just poke a switch and see what happens If you really need something in the glove box then an old mobile phone or tablet with the pdf file downloaded onto it eliminates the need for Internet access or phone signal and is just as convenient as a paper book.

  23. Nail, head. Super-duper, all singing, all dancing petrol for an engine that is tuned to use it is great. However, put it in a standard engine and it's all psychological snake oil.
