  1. A very quick and easy look on the Lexus website and Robert is your mother's brother: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals/
  2. I seem to have lost my Gold Member status, even though my PayPal account shows an automatic payment being made to you on 2nd August. Can you sort it please folks? Cheers.
  3. Just to add to what Len said above, only use 'Endurance' type SD cards as these are specifically manufactured to cope with the constant writing/rewriting. Personally I only use Samsung Endurance Pro - they have excellent reviews, they're robust, have a very low failure rate and are amongst the best, if not the best cards out there. I usually buy them from here but it seems they're out of stock of the 128GB ones.
  4. You'd think so wouldn't you, but no, they don't care. The whole job, from pulling up in their car to driving away again is about 90 seconds to 2 minutes tops. Plus, the 'lookout guy' is usually armed with a machete or some other weapon, so they aren't the slightest bit worried.
  5. If it's the kind of protection where some guy comes out to repair supermarket trolley dings and suchlike then you can get it half price elsewhere. If it's a whole-car ceramic coating type of thing, go to a proper car detailer for a much better job at a much better price. Enjoy your new beastie and let's see photos when you get it
  6. The one sure thing I know is that so-called "green energy" is mostly anything but.
  7. Yep, that's correct. Hill Start Hold may work differently but Hill Start Assist does exactly that.
  8. In case anyone is interested, this is my camera setup. It's a Viofo A129 Duo with parking mode, currently £154.70 from Amazon on that link. The front camera was very easy to fit although I would have ideally liked to position it nearer the roof lining. Unfortunately, any brand of camera would be the same due to the dots of the rain sensor. The lens needs to be clear of the dots so if I went further up the camera would be too far to the left. The rear camera was a bit challenging, especially getting the cable through the flexible rubber tubes from the body into the tailgate, but nothing too difficult.
  9. You are, of course, quite correct Len and my own dashcam setup, a Viofo A129 Duo, (£154.70 for the front/rear set) has 'parking mode' as well, along with voltage sensing so that it doesn't flatten the 12V battery. This kind of setup necessitates a second power feed, so the camera has an ignition-switched supply for normal driving mode (on/off with the ignition) and also a permanent live feed for when the car is off and the camera is in parking mode. I didn't mention this above because (a) not all cameras have a parking mode and (b) I was just trying to keep the explanation simple.
  10. Welcome to the club Dylan
  11. To be honest it could even be done with a pack of 8 AA batteries because current draw will be almost minimal as long as you turn things like the interior lights off, the radio off and don't attempt to use anything like power back doors etc. As I explained in the topic Barry linked to above, the radio, the clock, the window controller and suchlike all have a small chip in them that stores the respective settings as long as there is a power supply. If that supply gets interrupted then the chip is erased and the settings are lost. So, all you're doing is keeping the power supply to the chips on, and that doesn't take much power at all.
  12. If you have another 12V source (such as another car and jump leads) simply connect it to the cables before you disconnect them from the battery so that no settings are lost.
  13. I don't think they fit cig lighters these days but rather just fit 12V power outlets and usually in the centre console. However, the fuse box is usually somewhere up near or behind the glove box and the way I've always done it is to pull the fuse for the cig lighter/power outlet and use a piggyback 'add-a-fuse' like the one below, on that circuit. Of course, you'll have to make sure to get the correct size of blade. The RX uses micro blade fuses but I don't know what your new ES will use. EDIT: - forgot to say that if you use one of these then the fuse box lid will probably not fit back on so just keep it in the glove box so that you have it handy to refer to if you ever need to replace any of the fuses.
  14. A pure guess on my part but if it's possible at all, I would imagine you'd need Techstream to do it.
  15. Without being nasty, and I promise you I really don't mean to cause any offence, but let me put it this way - you don't need to know what it is because if you have to ask, then it's obvious you have neither the knowledge, the skills, nor the tools to do the job yourself, so either take it back to the dealer and get them to put it right or take it to an aircon specialist and get them to do the work.
  16. Looking at MOT history there's a jump from 2010 to 2020 and only about 4,000 miles covered during that time but no MOTs? How does that work? I know there's an old saying "God loves a tryer" but given all the fauts and help he's been asking about in here, trying to sell it in here is probably a non-starter
  17. Well, it's fairly self-explanatory really. There's a motorised flap that directs the flow of air into the cabin and it sounds like it's possibly got stuck in a position that allows more air to be directed to the passenger side. That's really about the limit of my knowledge in this area.
  18. That's normal. When stationary you only have the fans pulling air through the system, but when moving forward you're sort of scooping up the air in front of the car and that helps to further cool it down. That could be a diverter flap stuck or the servo not working.
  19. That's an easy one to answer Len - you just have to be prepared to travel for the right car. We live in Preston, Lancashire, and our first RX (a 300) was bought from a trader in London. Our second and third (current) RXs, both 450h, have come from Lexus Teeside.
  20. Taking your last point first, if you have the car serviced at a Lexus dealership then the car gets a free warranty for 12-months on completion of the service. Have it serviced in 12-months time and again, you get another free 12-month warranty and so on until the car is 10 years old or reaches 100k miles. This is called the Lexus Relax warranty. There is also the Hybrid Health Check that will be carried out as part of the service or, if you want to have your servicing done elsewhere, you can get the Hybrid Health Check as a stand-alone item at Lexus for £59. As long as it successfully passes this check, Lexus warrant the high-voltage traction battery for 12-months and you can carry on doing this until the battery reaches 15 years old. The RX is indeed a very reliable beast but remember that people only come into forums like this when they have problems and need help, so if you read the forum don't be put off by all the problems you see - it's just that no one joins to say, "Hey, my car's running great". It's not unusual for RXs and their traction batteries to reach 200,000 miles and beyond, they are truly excellent machines.
  21. That's fair enough Pete but would you do me a favour please? If they come back and say no, it's not compatible, would you ask them why that is? I'd seriously be very interested in the answer to that.
  22. What makes you think that? A dashcam is a dashcam is a dashcam and all dashcams will fit in all cars. It's just a 12V accessory like a 12V air compressor for pumping up your tyres or a 12V vaccuum cleaner. Stick it on the windscreen, give it an ignition-switched 12V supply and Robert is your mother's brother, job done. If you also want a rear cam then that slightly more work but still very easy.
  23. These cars have Climate Control, which is far better than standard aircon. You just set the cabin temperature to whatever you want and the car will do what it has to (mixing hot/cold conditioned air etc) to maintain that temperature, so maybe it was that?
