  1. Sorry Marianne just re-read your post and your reluctance to claying. I found using a clay cloth fairly easy to use compared to a block and there are loads of demos on google
  2. It could have had some kind protective coating which has been poorly applied. Might be an idea too start from scratch and give it a good wash and then clay bar it either with a block or cloth. This should get rid of any previous coatings ( if any) and give you a completely clean uncontaminated surface then apply a couple of coats of good quality polish
  3. Would be interesting to know how much these two garages charged for this?
  4. Agee with Herbie. I had exactly the same issue, left the car at the airport for four weeks, had to boost start it and it never really recovered, lasted about a week even when I charged it overnight it would only last a day. The battery was only three years old but having been completely discharged in very cold weather finished it off.
  5. Having re-read my post, what I should have said was that I wax after the ceramic coat having used polish to to get the paint work ready for the ceramic coat and yes I do use a control cleaner to clean off the residues before the ceramic coat and then apply about two coats of wax.
  6. Like Herbie I am curious to know what polish remover you use and why.? Are you talking about a control cleaner to remove polish residues? I tend to put the polish on after the ceramic coating
  7. Nice result. Did you correct the paint work or just use polish before the ceramic coat?
  8. Very interesting and informative post Mike. Thanks. I also have a traffic light indicator and was concerned at the short time it took for the red light to start flashing especially when my battery was less than a year old. I keep my Ctek on all the time now as the car is sometimes standing for more than a week. I am assuming that will not damage the battery even though it is charging it higher than the hybrid battery would?
  9. Agree with Simon I bought front pads from them at quite a large discount. They quite often have bundle deals.
  10. Agree, when my 12 volt battery was beginning to pack up I was getting all kinds of error messages on start up
  11. I have lived in France for the past 15 years and regularly use the ferry (3 or 4 times a year). Only had the car strapped down once when the sea was particularly rough. Love driving over here, no aggression ( unless around a major city) and very little traffic. They really look after their roads, very few potholes. They are keen on their speed cameras with a lot more active ones than in GB and they have introduced unmarked radar cars in most departments provided by private companies. Income from them last year exceeded 1billion euros. The French motoring organisations claim it is a national stealth tax!
  12. We were in Cornwall a few weeks ago, quite agree about the narrow roads, came home with a nice scratch down the whole length of the car. Need to get the detailing kit out but it is just to hot to do any paint correction at the moment!
  13. Agree with Paul. I have always found that turning the nozzle upside down works on over sensitive pumps
  14. Time your border crossing during lunchtime and there will be no one there
  15. Having had several Saab’s in the past I think the seats and general comfort of the GS300 is far superior especially the premier range where the seats have plenty of adjustment
  16. I would have thought the GS would be heavier then the IS?
  17. Does anybody know if relax is available in other countries outside the UK. I am living in France and cannot find anything about it over here but got the impression it was a world wide scheme?
  18. I have a mk1 Audi TT 3.2 convertable for fun and a Citroen Grande Picasso as a general workhorse, trailer pulling and outings with the grandchildren. The Lexus is for long distances and pure pleasure. I still get a buzz when I press the button and the seat and steering wheel just fold you in to sheer luxury and tranquility!
  19. Decided to take the front wheel off to look at the pads. Got the jack out from the boot The manual read “ The jack point guides are located under the rocker panel. They indicate the jack point positions” I had a look and there does seem to be a plastic cover which I assume you take off? Although I cannot see any way of getting it off. Am I missing something?
  20. I find that whenever I get a new car I am surprised to see how many other cars around of the same model. Maybe I wasn’t looking for them before!
  21. Interesting! It seems that Europe is different from UK regarding warranties. I live in France and was told I could not get an extended warranty on the car only the battery even though the car had been serviced by Lexus in the England every year from new. They only give an extended warranty if the car is less than three years old
