  1. Do you need a master key for a 2012 GS 250? Or is it a main dealer job?
  2. It looks good value. Do you run it on a PC or MAC?
  3. I fitted my nextbase camera today, but didn't realise the supplied piggy back fuse would work as looked different from the lexus fuses in the fuse box. I even went to Halfords (a waste of time) to get one, then ordered the actual micro fuse piggy back fuse from Amazon. Anyway, then when I compared the prongs on the fuse and realised it would fit. A bit stupid of me, but just in case anyone else hasn't seen the micro fuses before hopefully my mistake might help someone else avoid it.
  4. Paypal has massive fees, so probably not an economical aproach. And can also be reversed if a dispute. If you have an escrow service make sure that can't be reversed as there is some risk Patric with a translation in two languages
  5. Thats funny! Strange they go elsewhere for their MOTs perhaps Dacia are better value!
  6. Has anyone hard wired a dash cam, I have bought the proper wiring kit and it has connectors to join into a blank fuse holder in the fuse board so it switches off with the ignition. Not sure the best way to the fuse board or its location for accessories?
  7. Yea I do agree the stats are very good and scientific, but sometimes life is just no so scientific when you've bought something that perhaps wasn't your other halves 'first choice'. That shiny Red BMW did look nice! So best to consider all eventuallities to CYA.
  8. Thanks! Perhaps I also considered what Mrs J would say if I had to pay a big bill after convincing her Lexus was more reliable than the BMW she fancied. O Hum!
  9. We bought or car GS250 last week from an independent garage Tempest for cars near Brighton they serviced it, but we had it into Lexus Edgware today for an interim service as only £ 175 inc VAT, they were quite good as well and the car had a clean bill of health. I wanted to ensure the car was ok and don't know the dealer we bought it off but they seem to have been good. However, the reassurance of the service and cheap cost at least maintained the Lexus SH. I took the additional warranty from Lexus though as it seems quite good for a better price than the aftermarket ones from insurance companies and covers the full lexus labour rate where others don't. Whilst I think a genuine independent garage are probably good I would use one for repairs and have when we had our Bentley as was getting on in age (Hanwells of London) they knew the car better than Bentley plus the last service at Bentley was over 5K. However, I do think a lot of people want and like a full main dealer history particularly on a relatively new car. Dealers always stay in adverts FMDSH so they must have an opinion it helps sells cars. i also took out the two year extended warranty from Lexus and couldn't have without the service and health check been completed and all good. Therefore, I do think there is a place for independents, and would consider for repairs , exhausts etc but I do think the full main dealer history does help if you come to sell the car either adding value or at least easing the sale proces?

  11. We had our car serviced at Lexus Edgware today (GS 250). We were quite impressed with them actually, compared to other brands I have used for servicing, they seemed much better. Whist there and as the car had clean bill of health I decided to take the additional two year warranty as seemed a good cost compared to other extended warranties available. Additionally, it covers Lexus actually doing the work rather than the low labour cost allowance on most of the others we have taken in the past. Perhaps I am over cautious?
  12. Interesting you said old on the T5 We ran a Passat 2008 diesel as a spare car which my son now has. The car did and still does 50mpg plus even if you drive it hard on soft driving it would do even more. From experience newer diesels do not seem to be able to match the economy of the old ones. I used to work for a large transport firm when new lorry emission standards started the big vehicles were about 10% worse on MPG but lower on emissions Go figure
  13. We've just bought our first Lexus and non dealer history did put me off, in fact the non Lexus dealer we bought off I got them to stamp the warranty book but not the service book as I will be getting it serviced this week at Colindale Lexus to keep up the full history, plus the supplying dealer changed the oil and filter as were on holiday swe've run just under 2000 miles on their oil so changing again should clean out any crap and do no harm. FYI Coloindale quoted me £170 for the interim which is cheaper than Honda charged us.
  14. I've been surprised with our GS as thought it would be thirty, not the sporty one just the 2.5 but we got 44 mpg on a long trip from Yorkshire driving around the speed limit, but we were stuck in traffic for quiet a bit which probably affected it. We had a diesel CRV and it used to struggle to get 30mpg most of the time.
  15. Depends if you go for an Amazon or the smaller one LC? The Amazons provided serviced are good for several hundred thousand, my sister in law towed a massive catering trailer with hers for over ten years and only problem was the air compressor non terminal rust and the seats fell apart VX spec the lower GS spec has dragon and I've seen some very high mileage Ines with almost new looking seats. We had the 4.2 diesel back in 2004 converted it to normal struts when the air units failed, about £1200 self import from the US, easy to fit and no warning lights after removal. The smaller 3.0 ones are basically a hilux under the body so again very reliable we currently have the pick up 3.0 Hilux double cab and it's been faultless and done some 'hard work' but suffers from the beige 'leather' seats which again do wear and mark badly. The later 2007 models were modernised a little. The only thing that put us off getting another one is the emissions and we live in London.
  16. We've got Avons on our GS and there is quiet a bit of tyre noise
  17. We spend some time in Thailand and they have fully embraced ethanol most unleaded is 10-15% ethanol. I ride a CBF 650 over there and only run it on the full fat unleaded as it pinks on the ethanol stuff and actually does around 10% less to the gallon, I think some if their fuel is 94 Ron. Same with our diesel pick up vast difference in fuel quality between standard and premium diesel, but fuel is roughly two thirds of our price even with the poor exchange rate. They are also imposing restrictions based on euro standard of the engine so when I bought the Hilux 3.0 I thought it was smart to get the discount on the outgoing euro 4 model and now regret not paying list to get euro 5. Actually the main Toyota agent charges about £65 for a full service and synthetic oil on the Hilux, bike is about £ 35 equivalent. Chaeap compared to the ZuK.
  18. I've been with Adrian Flux mainly for modified stuff in the past, but sort of stayed with them, they also do my Buell bike insurance as well. I'm due for renewal week after next, so shopped around Admiral (Extra introductory discount) were cheaper on line than my Flux renewal. However, when I called Flux about the change of vehicle to the Lexus I mentioned about their price. They offered to look at it again and in the end said they would match the price of Admiral. Of note they also didn't charge their commission on my vehicle change (£30 according to the policy) and don't charge for plate transfers so I decided to stay with them. They also kept me with the same insurer Trinity and they have been quiet sensible on mileage as I was close to my mileage limit. Further, from my experience, at least you can get through to someone who will help if you have an issue, and they have shown flexibility on things when they have changed. My wife was with Axa and they took four years to sort a no fault accident out whilst loading her premiums each year and you couldn't get hold of anyone who could make a decision from them, very much computer says no.
  19. Cheers for the info, I'm going to drop the wheels off and have a look around so will check the pipes. I only got it last week but already over 1000 miles. I didn't buy it from Lexus but the dealer seemed quiet good. They changed oil but I've booked it into Lexus for an interim service £175? Which seemed quiet good and keeps the Lexus history up to date. Seems a nice car though. Take Care Chris
  20. We've just bought a 2012 Lexus rather than getting a newer car partly as I don't want the depreciation, or to pay lease costs, but your CRV story is interesting we had one on a three year lease 2016 1.6 diesel earth dreams engine. First day we had it the oil light came on, then cleared at its first service they asked if it was noisy or if it was since they had changed the oil, anyway it had to have a new engine under warranty. We had a CRV petrol no issues and a couple of Accords in the past that were literally bomb proof. The new CRV was not very good and appeared less well made than previous cars.
  21. Hi we had a 2014 e class and it went 4.5 K at Mercedes, car had 65k on clock and out of warranty, Merc didn't want to know. Interestingly we had kept my old company Honda Accord with 150k but full main dealer history. Same problem occurred about a year after the Merc, Honda replaced it free and only charged the Labour and consumables I think about £250 in total. I will never buy another German car again as we had a major injection issue on our VW Touareg and VW had the same approach and couldn't have cared less another 6 K job. Incidentally both the ABS untitled were Bosch and Honda told be it was relatively common for the 2006 cars to have this issue. My experience from VW and Merc has put me off their products and their aftercare is really poor.
  22. Quick question please. ive just bought a 2012 GS, fair condition low mileage, but when I look under the back the rear tie down is quiet rusty and the rear exhaust pipes to the back box. I gues from salt thrown from the rear wheels is this normal on these as my first Lexus?
